I'm running two monitors and lately one of them is white on start up. It clears after a few minutes and a couple of on/off cycles. I checked the connections and even tested it on another PC, acts the same way. Is this a sign of a monitor about to die or should I check something else?

(Psssst. Hurry and read this, before they ship it over to the hardware forum where no one will see it.) Im always on the lookout for DIY projects, especially when it comes to flightsimming. I like having my primary displays on a second monitor because they are easier to read. I looked for a small monitor online; however, being a retiree and a little on the cheap side, I tried a different tack. While Googling "small monitor," I came upon a neat project on the Instructables website in which a gifted DYI-er showed how to turn the monitor from a laptop into a second monitor. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Convert-a-Laptop-LCD-into-an-External-Monit/#step0 …

I upgraded my NVidea drivers to the latest 335.23 (GTX770) tonight to try out ShadowPlay. Afterward, SGSS didn't seem to be working anymore. Jaggies everywhere. Checked my Nvidea Inspector settings, reimported them and reapplied them to FSX with no help. Anybody have any thoughts on this? Gregg EDIT: I reverted back to 331.65 and all is well...the world is back to spinning in greased grooves.

Hi all, I'm running: Dell XPS 8300 Intel Core i5-2320 3GHz 16 GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti I currently run two monitors. I've customized a few panels to make both monitors largely full of instruments, with only a relatively small out-the-window view on my "main" monitor. Anyway, I'd like to be able to do two things: 1) Add a third larger monitor for the out-the-window view and keep the two I currently have strictly as instrument monitors. 2) Eventually, create a 3-monitor wide display for the out-the-window view and use two smaller monitors for the instruments (Total of 5) I've read about the THTG and Eyefinity stuff but don't know enough about i…

Hi all, I am still trying to find what the best monitor is to purchase for a new high end gaming system. I am running the titan black with my intention being the 3 x monitor system. I am confused what resolution to use being the 1080 but more likely the 1440 27 inch. The brands that seem to keep coming up are the Asus / Dell / and Ben Q. Do I need IPS? Is 5MS find for FSX. I nearly bought the 29 inch x 3 but saw picks and appears a little to wide screen for my personnel likes, no offence. What would you guys recommend, can I go 3 x 27 inch screens at 1440 res with titan black for FSX. It is a mind field out there! Thanks Andrew

Hello, I am having the following issue with Nvidia Inspector latest version (1.9.7.2) and fsx: I am using the NI fps limiter set at 30 fps (fsx internal fps limiter set to unlimited). While in FSX, this limit of 30 fps is maintained for a while (10-20 min.) and afterwards the fps limit seems to just go away, the indicated fps (shift-Z) going up between 60 and 100+ fps (causing mainly stutters). Does anyone know a solution for this issue? I am using an i7-4770 k + Asus GTX 780 ti with the latest Nvidia driver (335.23). Many thanks!

Hello all, I have an older system. I put it together in 2008 to run FS9 "good" on a scale of "poor" to "great". I really havent done much to it since then. I was always using hand me down CRT monitors until I got a tiny Dell LCD that someone was throwing out. Then I came across a really nice Samsung SyncMaster LED monitor, got rid of the VGA cable, plugged in the DVI cable and life was good for a few weeks. Then the video card blew, too old and used too much for such a strain I suppose. It was an EVGA 8400GS 512mb card. I replaced it with a brand new EVGA 8400GS card only this one has a gig of memory. $32 for this new card versus the almost $200 I paid for the old one…

Wanting to replace an aging GTX465 with only 1Gb of memory and replacing it with either a R9 280X (3Gb), GTX770 (2Gb) or maybe the GTX760 (4Gb). First of all does more memory matter, secondly does a larger bus size/speed help in resolution and textures. Btw, I'm looking to spend around $300 +/- It seems that the ATI R9 280X offers the best bang for the dollar/euro and also has capabilities for a higher resolution future (4K). Thanks for any help offered...Darryl

Once I get a system optimized I usually don't follow the hardware forums that much but I have been waiting for the 780ti 6GB to come out to pick up a couple. In searchin' about I came across this for AMD: http://community.amd.com/community/amd-blogs/amd-gaming/blog/2014/04/08/hail-to-the-king-introducing-the-amd-radeon-r9-295x2?sp_rid=NzI2NzcxMTAxNjAS1&sp_mid=20678607&spMailingID=20678607&spUserID=NzI2NzcxMTAxNjAS1&spJobID=301690512&spReportId=MzAxNjkwNTEyS0 Holy-moley 8GB! I haven't used an AMD card since I popped in a GTX580 so that was a long time ago in "GPU years". Not sure which way to go now but my wallet is starting to "twitch", …

Hi Guys, I've been having freezing and lock up sound issues with the latest Nvidia driver. I went back to 331.58 seems to have fixed the problem, but then it did lock up again once, this is much better but can anyone give me some feed back on what driver they have found best for the GTX 760 OC? Some say they have had better success with 331.40, haven't tried it yet. Thanks in advance, Sam

Hello, I'd like to ask for your help because I've a problem with my FSX graphics and I can't find a solution: My antialiasing doesn't work as would like, especially when I zoom out; a bit away from the aircraft. (screenshots below) Also a mysterious wireframe is drawn on PMDG NGX and 777 displays, but thats only a minor problem for me, main problem is the AA. My graphics card is a 1024MB ATI HD 5700 @875MHz core frequency and 1225MHz RAM frequency Until now, I've used the following settings: FSX: AA on, Aniostropic on, Framerate unlimited CCC: AA: application controlled Filter: Box AA Mode: Multi-Sampling Morpholog…

Hi people, Was thinking of maybe buying a 29" widescreen monitor aspect ratio 21:9 to use for fsx. Would this work with fsx? Im using trackir5 and basically wanted to extend my view around the cockpit. I dont want it to just be a squashed view of the VC, i wanted to be able to extend the view to see out the side windows. Any help would be appreciated Mick

For those that don't know Nvidia's much anticipated new drivers were released today that are touted to bring great performance to certain targeted applications. http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/articles/nvidia-geforce-337-50-beta-performance-driver I just ran my Xplane tests and I took a 30% FPS drop using the new drivers, so I had to rollback. Anybody else seen any major X-plane hit?

I followed Howard`s advice and ordered an 30"Display--- Shimian QH300--- from Amazon, which arrived today. It`s a monster and i will have to see,if i like it more than the 29" UltraWide Displays. Shimian uses Samsung SIPS Panels and the picture is quite nice. My question is,if a Dell U3014 is much better,Dell uses LG Panels,if i`m right. I never heard from Shimian, but Dell...... Dell is around 200€ more expensive, but you get some so called "used" from Amazon for around 100€ more than the Shimian. Mike

Hello fellow simmers, My current budget puts me in the price range of either a ATI R9270X or a Nvidia GTX 660 video card. Purchasing either of these cards will set me back an average of $200 U.S., and this is about as much as I can afford after settling up with the IRS this year. :( Both cards come with 2GB of onboard memory, and will be paired with a Core I5 4670K Haswell CPU that lives on a MSI G-45 (Intel Z87) motherboard. Which card would appeal most to you hardcore guys here? I will be upgrading from an ATI 4870 1 GB card and will be using the new card with both FSX and P3D V2.2. Thank you for any insight you can provide!

I have not seen this in any FSX cfg tweek so if I am repeating it I am sorry, byt I noticed in my cfg that mt GTX760 was listed twice so once I had deleted one of the enteries the difference in performance was amazingly good.
