I was away from simming for 7 years. My old system consists of: Intel® Core i7-3770K ProcessorCorsair Dominator DDR3 1866MHz 16GBASUS Maximus V Formula, Socket-1155ASUS GeForce GTX 680 2GB PhysX CUDA I am "old school" and run single montior at 1920x1080. Perhaps I could add one more monitor. I was getting average performance with FSX. Flying primarily to aerosoft airports and using PMDG 737. Would I get noticeable performance boost (smoothness and FPS, not into autogen/AI planes) with upgrade to latest tech? What would you suggest in such case? Thank you all in advance, and sorry if I ask obious questions, but I have been away for 7 year…

Hello everyone, Just wondering if anyone here has experience with using the Razer laptops for P3D? Currently I'm torn between two models and hoping someone here can shed some insight as unfortunately a desktop isn't an option for me. Option 1 i7-10750H 6 Core (2.6/5.0) RTX 2070 Max Q Option 2 i7-10875 8 Core (2.3/5.1) RTX 2080 Super Max Q Otherwise both laptops are more or less the same with 16Gb Ram and SSD. Can anyone comment on the benefits of those processors/graphic cards over the other? Appreciate your help Aaron

Hello, Planning to move from P3DV4.5 to V5, if HF2 shows improvement. However I need to install a new SSD drive due to lack of space. Thinking of either a Samsung Evo 970 M.2 1TB, or a Samsung 860 Evo M.2 which is considerably cheaper in Canada. How much of a difference would there be in speed, etc. Also is a Heatsink required for these units??? Any knowledge or experiences anyone can share is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi all, Currently looking at getting the following system from PC Specialist: i5-10600K OC (4.1GHz up to 5.1GHz) RTX 2070 Super 16GB RAM Corsair Vegeance DDR4 3200MHz Any thoughts? To reduce the cost I wouldn't mind taking the RTX 2060 Super but would this bottleneck the CPU? How much of a performance drop could I expect between the 2070s and the 2060s? And what gain in comparison to the 2080s? Also, is the i7-10700K worth the cost from the i5-10600K? They have similar speeds when overclocked and although the i5 only has 6 cores and the i7 has 8, I'm not sure this would translate into a huge performance gain in P3D? My aim is to be abl…

Hi All, Paranoid again regarding my CPU temps. Ive got the Ryzen 3600X with the stock cooler, please can anyone answer the following questions: 1) I'm getting varied idle temps (35-45 under idle) is this normal? 2) When running P3Dv4.5 and in full flight, the temperature average is around 75c at full load, sometimes increasing briefly to around 79-80, would this class as normal? 3) Do these kind of temperatures under sustained amount of time (4/5 hour flights) cause damage to the CPU? 4) Are there any settings I can change that will maybe cool the CPU down a few degrees or are these temperatures normal? Kindest Regards, Alex

Before my computer crashed this past Feb I had fsx gold edition on its own separate drive With the coming release of the new sim 2020 and shortly will be getting my new computer, I plan on running both programs Concluding. Would it be best for each sim have it's own separate drive? Or fsx would be on same drive as the OS and the new SIM 2020 on another drive

I currently have two SSD's with P3D v3 (Concorde exclusive) and P3D v4. I have just purchased a 500MB M.2 drive and will install P3D v5 on this new drive. Given that the M.2 is much faster I wonder if it is critical to move some data from the current SSD's over or can I just leave it and reference the location. I am specifically thinking of ORBX, FS Global Mesh and My Traffic. Everything else, airports and aircraft I will install directly on the new drive. Your thoughts?

Hey, I was planning an update of my cpu (I have a i5 7400 (3.0-3.3Ghz) right now) and was wondering what would be better between a Intel or AMD cpu because i see a lot of people not having the same opinion about this : Using P3Dv4.5 Choice number 1 : i5-9600KF (3.7-4.6Ghz) 240€=271$ ASUS TUF Z390 PLUS 170€ =191$ And a box for 44€=49$ For a total of 453€=511$ but i have a -85€=95$ offer so the total price would be 368€=415$ Choice number 2 : AMD Ryzen 5 3600X (3.8-4.4Ghz) 260€=293$ MSI B450M PRO M2 MAX 79€=89$ And same box Total price : 382€ = 431$ For the moment, i'm thinking to take the amd, looking at the bench it seems to be a bit bett…

Hello Gentlemen, I have been dragging along with "mediocre" PCs for many years and want to put an end to that now that I can afford it. Would really appreciate your input on this build as, although I don't mind spending this much money, I don't want to needlessly waste it either. Or maybe there are better alternatives for the same price with some of the components I picked. The idea is having a PC for flight simulation, primarily X-Plane but maybe also FS2020 etc., that will last at least 5 years with no or maybe only minor upgrades (RAM etc.). I want this build to be good for three 1080p displays or one 4k display. Thank you kindly in advance,

As some may know I recently upgraded my overclocked 6600k based system to the new intel 10900k. Here is a brief summary of the results in v4 and v5. My old specs: i5-6600k 4c/4t OC @ 4.7, 32GB DDR4-3200 C16, GTX 1080ti. New Specs: i9-10900k OC 10c/20t* @ 5.2, 32GB DDR4-4200 C18, GTX 1080ti With the 6600k I saw no performance improvement moving from v4.5 to v5. Both sims were a stuttery mess with autogen draw distance any higher than low. I will focus on autogen, as that is the setting that quickly causes a cpu performance bottleneck with a good GPU. All of the tests are in VR single pass mode using either the pmdg 744 or ngxu and the full suite of or…

I cant seem to use the headphones at the same time as my speakers are plugged in at the rear. when i unplug the speakers at rear hey presto i ave sound through the headphones via the front jack! Apparently from what i am reading its big issue of the new W10 updates Been going through google. I have uninstalled drivers and re-installed, tried making the front the default source. Tried literally everything i can think off! Anybody come across the issue recently which could help me along! Cheers Jonathan

With P3D V5 and Microsoft 2020 on the horizon, I’m thinking about upgrading my CPU/Motherboard from the 6700K to 10700K. I currently have the following components in my setup: GTX 2080ti 36GB Ram 4K Display P3D has been fine but has been definitely struggling with the FSLabs. Any and all advice would be appreciated.

I applied a manufacturer preset that overclocked my CPU to 5 GHz some time ago which has since served me well. But P3D v5 apparently doesn't like because it keeps BSOD'ing and the event viewer shows a hardware error reported by the CPU. I have no idea however how to disable the preset and return to the settings used before. I can only load other presets but I don't see where I can revert. I tried some things like disabling the AI tweaking but it still shows me 5 GHz as target frequency in the Extreme Tweaking menu. Loading defaults (F5) will only reset one single setting but not all that were changed when loading the preset. Any help is appreciated.

Gentlemen, I am a new proud owner of an i9 9900k and have spent the last couple of days trying to achieve a good stable overclock. I am by no means an expert in overclocking and am plainly learning along while I do (reading from many overclocking forums etc.) So far I have achieved 5.0 GHz on all cores with Vcore 1.29 and LLC Level 6. If I go above 1.29 the temps get out of control on Prime95 Small FFTs (non AVX). On the Small FFTs run my temps get to 95C after 15 minutes without crashes, which I am okay with since under any real load they won't ever go that high. X-Plane is always well below 80C for instance. Since X-Plane does not benefit from more than 4…

I have been using for the last few years Win10 and Prepar3D installed on the same SSD. I remember in the past it was quite common to have OS and Sim installed on two separate drives. Is it still a good practice ? Is there any noticeable advantage in terms of performance in using the "two drives" option ? Thanks Ezio

Question.....Cuda Cores 2560 vs CC 3072..... Would I see a reasonable performance gain by upgrading from a EVGA RTX 2070 Super with 2560 CCs to a EVGA RTX 2080 Super with 3072 CCs? Thanks Randy Smith

Can you guys recommend I use my previous PC for as I am about to build a new machine? I can only think about using it for Active Sky, Aivlasoft EFB, Flight Planning, while I use my main PC for running the flight sim. Would like to hear some ideas. If I can't find much use for it, I may just sell it.

I've been reading up and watching a lot of videos regarding the different types of switches when it comes to mechanical keyboards. I will be purchasing one for my new build. But I am still not sure which would be best for my typical use. I use my computer mainly for flight simming, and gaming. I play occasional FPS games like Battlefield V, and steam games. Most of the games I play using the Xbox One controller. The only games that I can think of that I would use a keyboard for is FPS games. I also surf a lot, email, chat, forums, and do creative work using Adobe Creative Suite. The switches are the GX Blue (Clicky), GX Brown (Tactile), GX Red (Linear). How would the blue…
