  1. To start off.. here is what I am running with today: CPU: i7 2600k, oc'd to 4,3GHz. Running stable like this for 8 years now. Cooler: Scythe Mugen CPU cooler RAM: 8GB Corsair XMS3 Dominator Mainboard: Gigabyte Z68X UD4-B3 PSU: Corsair TX750M GPU: Gigabyte GTX1070 SSD: Samsung 750EVO SSD (system) HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 500GB for the sim, and another 1TB for games. 4. One of my system's two eight gig RAM modules seems seems to have died so would like to take the opportunity to put in new 32 gb RAM. The only problem is that it is near impossible to find RAM that is on the QVL list for my 12 month old Maximus XI Extreme motherboard. Some part numbers from my usual suppliers come close but they are not exactly the same as on the QVL. How essential is it to find an exact match to what is on the ASUS QVL? Thanks Bruceb

The desk chair I presently have used for 15 years has a rather hard seat which I suspect is contributing to a personal medical issue of the posterior. I am looking at the Arozzi brand of gaming chairs available at Sam's Club but was hoping for some recommendations. My requirements are a soft seat, good lumbar support, comfortable but not over bearing or intrusive arm rest, comfortable for hours of sitting. Two to three hundred Dollars price range. Note I said gaming chair but a good desk chair that fills the purpose would be just as good. So what do you use and are you happy with it? We seasoned citizens may have different need then some of you younger fellows.

Hello, I have an ASUS HERO VII motherboard with with and Intel 4790K 4.0ghz, and a 1080TI graphipcs card. Yesterday, I started the PC and I got the fan speeding up then slowed down, the speed up again, and it slowed down. It stay llike that. Nothing was displayed on the three monitors. I had a digital display on the board that shows code 00, which could be many things. One thing that I noticed the previous day, was that the PC clock time was off. I did check the CMOS battery and it showed 2.8V, so I went and bought a new battery, but nothing happened. I took the 1080 TI and used one monitor with the onboard HDMI connection. Same thing. I posted a video regarding this in another thread. Seems the Zalman was beating the Noctua NH-D15 by a full 7 degrees and noise was identical. Well it seems they have now tested again, but with a different D15 cooler and the margin has reduced. The tests now reveal that the Zalman is only a couple of degrees cooler than the D15. But still seems like the Zalamn remains another option for those looking for an air cooler.

Hello, When I fly in P3d and go into descend, the scenery is loading pretty slow. When I‘m on final Approach there are nearly no trees oder buildings, because they‘re loading in so slowley. Currently I own a i7 6700; GTX970; 16GB DDR5 RAM; an I‘m running P3d on a HDD. My question is can I change this through Harware upgrade? And if yes, through what Harware (GPU, CPU, SSD,...) Thanks!

  15. Hi, I am thinking about buying a PC for Flight Sim, video editing, and some home office use. Haven't built a PC in ages, so very overwhelmed by all the choices. I've seen the recommended specs for MSFS2020, but want to go beyond that a bit to be future proof. May want support for 3 monitors and/or VR. Any recommendations for case, motherboard, video card, memories, hard drives, etc? Will want a quiet system, and prefer well-secured air-cooling instead of liquid-cooled AIO for peace of mind. I currently have 24GB of RAM (helps me run Outlook and Premiere better), and my two 3TB hard drives + 200 GB for operating system & software (new Windows doesn't…

After about a 4 year lay off form flight simming I'm returning to the fold. My computer is about 9 years old and showing its age, Upon running FSX and Prepar3D I am getting program crashes with some planes, its not a new install of either program as I never uninstalled them. I'm now thinking of getting a new computer, my budget is between £1000 - 1300 (i'm in the UK), the budget is for the computer as I will use my existing monitor, keyboard and mouse (will buy 2 new monitors later). I'm not up to speed with the latest specs but must be able to run FSX and Prepar3D really well. I'm looking at a UK sourced pre built or maybe custom built. What would others rec…

After four weeks of trials and tribulations, I still do not have a working version of my new PC. After extensive testing (both by myself and a local hardware shop), it is looking very much like the CPU is the source of the problem. The good news is that the local hardware shop charged on a "no fix, no fee" basis, so I did not pay a penny. The bad news is that I was initially given what appears to have been incorrect information, and ended up shelling out for a new motherboard! However, I experienced exactly the same problems with this motherboard installed as I did with the first one. All of the other components (PSU/GPU/RAM/HDD/DVD etc) have been tested, and seem to be O…

Now that I have retired, I have been scrounging through this forum, PC Parts Picker and You Tube looking at posts on building my first computer. The old computer's MOBO and PSU were failing, but used the graphics card from it in the new build. Out of the blue, my 4 year old self built sim PC is no longer starting up. I switch it on at the mains, the fans and CPU water pump all start spinning but then they all go off again. At this point I'd press the power button on the PC itself, but that does nothing, does not even spin the fans up. In order to try to book again I have to power off at the mains and plug in again. However that results in the above. All lights look normal on the motherboard itself, when it does try to start the monitor never wakes up, so I don't even get a bios screen. I've tried: Changing the graphics card to a spare; Changing the Power Suppoy to a spare; Re-seati…

Well, here's a data point for those interested...my trusty Swiftek MCP-655B water pump (Laing D5 motor with variable-speed control) passed away suddenly this afternoon. It had been vibrating for several months, so i suspected the end may be near. It was first put into service in early 2009 and used nearly daily, I'd say an average of 8 hours a day. That's about 32,000 hours on the pump...it's advertised mean time between failures is 50,000 hrs. I have kept a spare D5 pump motor and O-ring around since I first built the water loop, and replacement was an easy-peasy non-event...drain and blow out the system with air, unscrew the big knurled ring from the pump b…
