Hello to you all, Just for your information. I have just upgraded my hardware and this is reflected in my signature. I finally settled on the AMD CPU (9 3900x) on an ASRock X570 Taichi motherboard. Also using 2 sticks 16GB Corsair vengeance 3200mhz RAM to upgrade from my old i7 2600k on ASUS motherboard. I have moved the motherboard and CPU to a second networked computer to run things like Simbrief, Navigraph charts etc. I will move as much as possible to this computer and will seek advice on this a little later on. For the moment, I am achieving FPS of between 60 and 110 (fluctuating wildly) on P3D but have fearful stutters and am currently tryin…

Hi Everyone, I've got the itch to upgrade my flight sim rig but want some feedback from the community. I currently have this setup: Intel Core i7 4960X overclocked to 4.5 GHZ Hyper Threading OFF. This is a 6 core CPU Asus X79-Deluxe Motherboard 16GB DDR3 RAM @ 2400Mhz 2 Titan X (Maxwell) GPU in SLI 2 512GB Samsung SSD - 1 for Windows, 1 for Flight Sim. This rig started out with a 4820K CPU in 2013 but I was able to score a 4960X on e-bay for $225 in 2017. I'm interested in jumping to a Intel i9 9900KS however i'm not sure how much of an improvement I'll see. Other differences include jumping to DDR4 RAM and M.2 NVMe SSD instead …

Hi Everyone. I am in the process of building a new PC. But dreading the laborious reinstall of everything. I have acronis true image 2018-and as you will know, it has the universal restore. Does any body have any experience of using it please. The youtube videos aren't very clear. If any one has used it,can you please write a simple tutorial to start me off. This will be great help- as everyone knows it will take me many hours to reload via traditional method. I am familiar with the system restore using the rescue media builder-this has been my life saver on many occasions after failures to "tweet" p3d. All help will be greatly appr…

Hi, I have been continuing to research hardware components for a potential new budget PC build and have come up with this so far.... i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz (I would look to overclock this), MSI Z390 Gaming Plus MOBO, Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x 8GB) 3000 MHz RAM, Corsair H60 Liquid cooling (to assist with the overclock), and it is just the GPU that I need to decide on. I've looked at the bottleneck calculator on pc-builds.com and see the i5-9600K matches well with the GTX 1070 Ti, GTX 1070, GTX 1660 and GTX 1660 Ti. I am leaning towards the GTX 1070 at the moment due to my fairly tight budget. This has 8GB GDDR5 RAM whereas the 1660 and 1660 Ti have less RAM,…

Hello All! I am looking to build a new PC for P3D and specially for MSFS 20. I know we don't have all the details for MSFS 20, however, I don't see why it wouldn't run fine with the latest hardware. Also, I do have a 4K monitor, so this will be for 4K. First question, which CPU? 9700k, 9900K or 9900KS? I will be keeping my 1080TI from my old build, so let's keep this in mind. Second, thoughts on the specs below? CASE: NZXT H510 (White) GPU: NVIDIA GeForce 1080TI - My current GPU CPU: ? CPU COOLING: NZXT Kraken X52 MOTHERBOARD: MSI MPG Z390 GAMING PRO CARBON AC RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 32GB 3200MHz SSD: …

No idea it could be this easy.. Just made it home... found that my new Samsung SSD had arrived.. 1. Plugged it in via a USB cable 2. Ran Samsung Data Migration program to clone my systems ( C : ) drive onto the new SSD 3. Powered down the system 4. Exchanged the new SSD for the old 5. Booted up the system Works like a charm! Nice when things work first time..

Hi, I am looking to build a new PC and have come up with the below specs as a first rough draft... Intel Core i7 6700k (4.0 GHz), Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, ASUS Prime Z270 MOBO, Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR2 16GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB, Fractal Design Meshify C Case and a EVGA Supernova 750W PSU. As you can probably tell I am on a budget hence why I am not looking at the i7 9900K or similar. As a first draft how do these specs look and is there anything that you would change? Maybe I can go cheaper on some components (e.g PSU?)and upgrade others? Or maybe there are other components on the market for a similar price as the ones I have come …

  11. After nearly 6y of an average of 3-4h/day overclocked to 4.32-4.42Ghz my 3930K is finally beginning to hint the end is near. I assembled it along w/ an 800W PSU and an original GTX Titan, 32gb of ram. I've been assembling PCs for 20+ years or so but this time I was going to consider looking for a custom builder. After looking at pricing, I'm looking again at doing my own. Couple of questions if you will that will help me decide how to go: 1. I'll never do SLI, so with a 9900K or 9700K overclocked as able, an RTX 2080Ti, 32Gb of some kind of ram, and a mobo to support it, what size PSU will I need? 2. Will a mobo to accommodate these parts and fit int…

  12. Hi, I am in desperate need of some help and advice. I currently use P3DV4.5 on the same PC I have had for a few years now and run it with quite low settings. With UK2000 Heathrow and Active Sky in the QW787 I am only achieving around 15-25fps. Now, all I am looking for is an increase of around 10fps just so I am consistently hitting atleast 25fps - for me this would be fine. My question is is it worth me spending a couple hundred pounds to upgrade some components in my current PC, or would it be better to start fresh with a new motherboard.... I have just started getting parts for a new build to replace my PC that I sold over a year ago. I decided to go with z390 and 9900K or KF but there seems to be some info on the web that suggests it may be best to stay away from KF. I have also just found out the KS will be available in October. Should I wait for the KS? My thoughts are that even if it is too expensive, I can then pick up a 9900K for less.

Sorry, another 'Which CPU should I get' thread. I've had my trusty 6700k for 4 years now, and last year upgraded to a 2080TI upon release. I'm generally satisfied with my simming experience on P3D now, albeit with some settings compromises and occasional stutters when at airports such as DD KJFK, FlyTampa KBOS and the like in the FSL A320. I've had to back my overclock down from 4.8 to 4.7 and now to 4.6, and still got an ntdll.dll crash the other day. I'm worried my chip is slowly degrading, but if it is, it's also a good rationalization for buying new expensive hardware lol. Like all of us, I'm sure, I'd like to have top-of-the-line hardware when MSFS2020 is r…

I'd like to start off this post by saying a big thanks to some members here that have given me the opportunity to own some really nice hardware for very low cost. And also some background: Especially the point that I don't frequently upgrade my PC to new parts....even though I am very blessed with a nice salary, my wife and I are very responsible with our finances and a big PC upgrade isn't usually in the battle plan LOL. This summer I did a mobo/cpu/ram change from my trusty 2011 build P67A/2500k/16GB ram/GTX 980 (originally a GTX 570) to a Z97/4790K/32GB ram/GTX 980. I also "finally" caved and went with Windows 10 Pro (from Win7 x64 Pro). There were some headach…

  18. For some weird reason, every time I start XP11 , my keyboard F key will stop working. Combinations will work, including Ctrl/Shift+F and holding the key down will result in ffffffffff. But a single F press won't work....this is outside of XP as well, like Chrome browser, Microsoft Word etc etc. Even after closing XP11 it will still happen in Windows 10. After a reboot it will work normally again. Anyone ever heard of such an issue? Windows 10 updated.

Hi guys I am considering changing my I7-6700K running at 4.0GHz stock to an Intel Core i9 9900K. My question, is it worth doing or should I save my money and stay with what I have got. I have a Nvida GTX 2060 and I fly X Plane (an hopefully MSFS 2020). Thanks for any answers.

Hi, I am in the position that I need a new computer. I am a long time user of FSX, and with the new computer I am also planning to move to P3D v4+. I am restricted with my choice of computer and would like to get your inputs as to which area I should put most focus on with my new computer specs. The main restriction is that it has to be an Apple MacBook Pro due to various reasons. Since flight simming is a side hobby to my actual (real world) flying I am not getting a designated computer for that. I will be running P3D on a Windows "bootcamp"-partition on the MacBook (done so for years, works like charm). Below are the base specs of the computer I am inte…

Hey Guys. Anybody have issues with an overclocked computer making the room VERY warm. This is really only a problem when pushing the computer. That means during flight sim flights. I have a ceiling fan, AC/open window. But long haul flights in particular make the room very hot. Granted I understand the chemistry/physics of an overclocked computer. The heat has to go somewhere. But I was just wondering if anybody else deals with this issue.

Hi all, Was hoping to get some reviews of the below build I'm planning on. Primarily to play X Plane at moderate to high sliders (where I can) and hopefully be able to play Microsoft Flight Simulator when it's released later in 2020. Looking to stay at about the current price point. Any feedback, tips, or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you! https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kyPBgw
