  1. Hi guys, not sure if this is the right spot for this but here it goes. I'm running out space in my SSD and I really need something bigger to install sceneries (P3Dv4). Buying an external HDD (2.5" 2Tb USB 3.0) is a good solution to install the sceneries? Thank you in advance 🙂

So I don’t have a very good PC for flight simulation and I’m looking to upgrade. But I don’t really know much about the RAM AND Graphics and Video Cards. I would like to know your opinion on this pc http://www.pcspecialist.ie/view/FSX-1500-PC/ I have high expectations for my flight sim and even updarades I could make to this PC. I would like to know how it would run X-plane, FSX and P3D Any help would be greatly appreciated

  4. So I'm going to throw this back out for another discussion. My current system has an Intel 6700k OC'd to 4.7.Asus z170-P MOBO, 6GB 3200 DDR4 Crucial RAM, 750 WT PSU and a EVGA GTX 1080FTW2 GPU. I have been looking at building a new system to facilitate P3dV5 and MSFS 2020. My thoughts were to buy a I7 9700k CPU and OC it to 4.7/4.9 and an Asus Z390 MOBO and bring my PSU/RAM/SSDs and GPU over to the new system. Would I be better to UPGRADE to an EVGA GTX1080ti and sell my current GPU or go for a new CPU and MOBO. I am reading the 2080 GPU are really not worth the extra cost. What would you do?

Hello, I have been doing some digging in an cpu upgrade starting with no knowledge with today’s CPU’s however with a bit of research I’m slowly starting to understand a bit. Im on a tight budget so I’ve narrowed it down to I think 2 being the Ryzen 3600X or the I5 9600K.. there would be about 135$ Ish difference once I’m done...I’ll be using a nvidia GTX1060 6GB that’s in my current system (I7 7700 currently cpu) any opinions? thanks

  6. Short version: X-Plane 11 is running far slower than I would have expected considering the computer I have. Long version: I started out using X-Plane on a Mac mini from 2014. When 11 came out, I bought it, and got around 20 or 30 FPS with medium settings. For me, that was fine, and I was using X-Plane on that computer with good performance up until about a year ago. That computer had the following specifications: - 2.8 GHz, Dual-Core Intel Core i5 - 8 GB RAM (1600 MHz DDR3) - Intel Iris (1536 MB, Dynamic) Life was good in those days, but I've now spent $750 on a this-year laptop the command line refers to as an "HP Laptop 15-dy1xxx". I bought the comput…

Hello! I have a I7-7700, RTX 2070 Super and using P3D. Is it worth to upgrade from i7-7700 to i7-9700K? I would like to sell my i7-7700 and my mobo (GIGABYTE GA-H170M-D3H/-GSM) if I decide to buy an i7-9700K. For how much money can I sell them? Thank you!

Looking at options for installing an additional SSD on my system in particular whether or not to avail myself of the DIMM.2 module featured on my Maximus XI Extreme motherboard. I understand that if you populate both slots of the DIMM.2 module with M.2 drives the number of PCIe lanes available to the GPU in the primary slot drops to x8. However I am unclear as to what happens if you only populate one of the two M.2 slots on the DIMM.2 module - does the GPU still run at x8 and if so does it matter? Utilizing the DIMM.2 module is a very simple process whereas installing M.2 drives in the slots directly on the motherboard is much more complicated you have to remove th…

  10. I have been using various cloud platforms for the past 18 months and thought some of what I learned may be helpful so here it goes. Let me caveat this by saying I am in no way affiliated with any of these companies or their products and my recommendations are based solely off my experience. My goal was to replace my gaming desktop with a cloud computer and I am happy to report I succeeded. I now play both X-Plane 11 and P3DV4 in the cloud exclusively and it costs me roughly $60-80/month depending on how often I play. I think if you play more than 100 hours a month the economics wouldn't really make sense but if you are someone like me that mostly plays on the weekend …

I'm looking at again replacing the PC, having been told by PC Specialist that what I currently have shouldn't have a GPU upgrade of more that a 1650 as the rest of the system will become the bottleneck 😞 The main use is going to be for P3D5, using a single screen at 2560x1440 (might replace later though), so it seems a GPU of no less than 8GB would be sensible and presumably more is better, hence the topic title. I'll probably get a 9900K and overclock myself (gulp). Am I right in thinking there are MOBO's that make this close to word not allowed proof? Like click here and it adjusts everything needed. If so, PC Specialist in the UK offer a choice and I'm won…

  15. Hi everyone, I’ll start by saying I’m not overly knowledgeable in pc parts. I recently purchased a computer off a friend. It’s a I7 7700. I feel as tho it’s a good base however I would like to upgrade the CPU, in doing my research I’ve come to the conclusion that my board can’t really take a better cpu. I’m looking for a recommendation on a board and cpu combo. I would like to keep the case and I also have a gtx 1060 6GB card that I plan on re-using. anyone have recommendations on a mobo and cpu combo that I can research? I fly the usual p3d, PMDG, flight beam etc scenery. I’d like to have something that could be hopeful for msfs 2020 however there really is no…

  16. I have been interested in getting a new build ready for the upcoming MSFS 2020. Not only do I want to future proof it as much as I can, since it will be my primary gaming device, but also want it to be powerful enough to run most flight sims (DCS World, P3D, MSFS 2020, X-Plane, etc) at max or close to max settings as possible. I play on 4k, so I will need a pretty beefy build. I would like to gather some advice from the hardware experts of this community to help me figure out what parts I need to accomplish this build that will meet my requirements. I haven't really decided on a budget yet. But that isn't important to me as the quality and power which will result from thi…

I’m looking at buying a new water cooler. I currently have a Corsair H55i due to space limitations with my previous cabinet. I have now upgraded to a larger cabinet (Fractal Define XL R2), and I should be able to fit a larger cooler now. With my current setup (i8700k), an OC to about 4.5 GHz is the maximum I can achieve without overheating the CPU. I have looked Corsair H100i Pro, but I have not found any comparison between that and my current cooler, so I don’t know the effect of making the upgrade. Does anyone have experience with that cooler, or maybe could recommend something else?

I'm noticing there are a lot of parts that are unavailable or out of stock and I'm sure it's due to the coronavirus with factories being shutdown and all. Would it be wise for me to purchase what's available now or should I wait. My concern is if I wait, those prices might increase and I'm also not sure when or if I'll be able to get the parts I am looking for. Parts like nzxt rgb fans, corsair power supplies, certain types of ram have been unavailable for quite some time now and I'm not sure when of if they will ever be back in stock.

Looking for some advice from someone who has done a similar upgrade. Im running a 6600k at 4.7 and the one thing that really kills performance is autogen. I would like to run autogen maxed out or close to it with the pmdg ngxu, right now I have autogen draw on low, any higher and i get stutters in cities. All four cores are maxed out at 100% load on my 6600k, will the 8 core 9700k with a good overclock be a worthwhile upgrade so I can run autogen draw at high or better?

I plan on building my next computer with liquid cooling vs the traditional air cooling that I've previously gone with. I have a few concerns and unknowns about liquid cooling. I heard its more efficient, especially for overclocking and keeping the temps down. But is it more prone to leaking and destroying your equipment and has to be replaced quite often? I have an 8+ year build with a traditional Hypermaster EVO 212 with an overclocked i7-3770k running 4.5GHz running strong without any problems. I am looking at the Kraken z73 specifically for the next build. Reason why I would like to go with brand is because I want this build to look nice. I'm all about function bu…
