Hey guys hoping everyone is having a good day. With Black friday coming up and Christmas around the corner. I would like to upgrade my PC to get the most out of P3D V4. I currently have a GTX1060 6GB dual fan, I7-7700 at 3.6ghz (with very good CPU cooler), 8gb of ddr4 ram, 700 watts PSU, a H110M PRO motherboard and one 256gb ssd for the system and a 1TB ssd only for P3D V4. i am currently looking to buy maximum a GTX1080TI 11GB (is a 'used' buy from somewhere such as amazon ok?) paired with an I7-9700K. Any suggestions, I'd love to hear them 🙂

Hello. I am considering an upgrade of my i5-8400 in my Dell XPS 8930. For primarily flight simming, can you please advise on whether an i7-8700k or i5-9600k would be the better upgrade? The i5-9600k is literally half the price. Thank you in advance, Glenn

Hi, I have nearly 4 year old I7-4790k overclocked to 4.6ghz with Corsair H80 water cooler. I am finally moving from FSX to P3D and am interested in getting the best system for performance. Is it worth upgrading the GPU from GTX 770 to GTX 1070 and ram from 8GB to 16GB to 32GB or upgrading the processor and motherboard? Thanks

Can anyone kindly suggest a midi-tower that has 2 x 5.25 front-mounted drive bays, so I can use my existing optical drive and card reader? I had in mind a Fractal Design Focus-G midi-tower,but the e-Seller site had one fairly positive review and the other quite a negative review re:water cooling, audio cabling, etc Added to which, the water-cooling radiators are not of sizes that would ideally cool a i7-8086K CPU. I was looking for 240mm-360mm. Thanks in advance.

  8. I run P3D latest version, ORBX and addon sceneries, ActiveSky, PMDG/FSL and so on planes, and lots of AI. I don't have a clue about computers (I don't even know what a motherboard is) nor want to build a computer, I just want to buy something new and run my FS on it smoothly. Here is what I have found: ASUS GL12CX-CH011T i7-9700, 3.6 GHz 16GB RAM NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 2070, 8GB 1x SSD 256GB 1x HDD 1TB Makes sense?

Hi all, I am looking to upgrade from a 8600k (@5.0) to a Ryzen 7 3800x because the 6 cores/ threads are slowing me down in CAD, modeling and rendering. For p3dv4.5 the 8600k and rtx 2080 is doing a fine job and I’m able to maintain 35-40 fps in resource heavy airports, fslabs a320, activesky, etc. The 3800x seems to score higher on single core benchmarks than any other ryzen 3000 chip... so the big question is...will the 3800x be a good replacement for the 8600k? Also, for memory, would there be a big performance impact... 3600 cl16 vs 3600 cl18? Thanks in advance.

  10. I was just perusing some ads and I noticed I could snag an i9-9900K for $450 locally today. I'm currently running an i5-8600K @4.8Ghz on a Gigabyte Z370 Gaming 7 MB with 16GB HyperX Fury DDR4-2666 PC4-21300 CL16 memory and an RTX2080Ti GPU. The 2080Ti was a $1K impulse purchase. The CPU would be an impulse purchase, too. I'm pretty happy with how my system runs P3D, but I've been throwing hardware at flight sims since the monochrome graphics days so it's a habit. Gigabyte says the current version of BIOS supports the i9-9900K. I'm pretty sure I can get away with swapping the CPU only and not have MS deactivate Win 10. Later on, I'll upgrade the RAM to 32GB of so…

Currently, have an Antec TP 650w PSU silently powering the current rig.Never had a single issue in the 5 years in usage; have an OCZ StealthXStream 700w PSU, as well as a Be Quiet! 650w. A friend has just pointed me to some Black Friday Deals. I'd like some opinions of experienced rig-builders of the following: Antec HCG Gaming 80 Plus Bronze Certified Power Supply 850W Corsair RM850, RM Series, 80 Plus Gold Certified, 850 W Have the other previous listed PSUs got all I need for a Z390 Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero mobo, i7-8086k CPUI, MSI GTX 1080Ti, SATA Hard Drives, SATA Optical Drive, SATA SSDs? Or do I need the 850w PSUs? Thank you.

I am thinking about upgrading my computer. It is as follows: Asus Z170-K M/board - Intel Skylake i5 6500k - EVGA GTX 1070Ti with 8g gdd6 not overclocked - 2 x 8gb Corsair DDR4-3200 - XFX XTR 750w PSU - Corsair Hydro H80iGT cooler - Samsung 43" UHD HDR TV - Thermaltake V71 Case - Samsung SSD 850 EVO M.2 500GB - SanDisk 240GB Extreme Pro SSD I wonder what would be the best item to upgrade (or items) with MS Flight-sim 2020 in mind sometime next year? I think a new Motherboard could be on the cards but then I am not very clever about these matters. Intel or AMD CPU? or just get a up market graphics cards? With much anticipation I am deciding whether or not I should save up now so that I can start piecing together parts for a brand new computer build so that I can run the sim as smoothly as possible. My current setup is in my signature. Do you guys think I will be able to run this sim fairly smooth in 4k with my current setup? Or do you guys recommend I spec out parts for a new computer build from the ground up for this upcoming sim? Do you guys think I can build a pretty beastly machine with a $1500 budget? The CPU and GPU alone will cost the most. I plan on going for an i9 with RTX 2080 unless something new and better comes along by the time I have saved enough money…

Hi everyone, I very rarely if at all post in these forums but I feel this area is going to hopefully give me the best answer, advice or at least point me in the right direction. A few years ago I purchased a new system for myself from UK company ‘Chillblast’. This was a Matt Davies PC and built especially for Flight sim and it really has done well since I’ve had it but I’ve noticed it’s ever so slowly getting lower FPS as of course scenery and aircraft add-ons get better and require more processing and/or power. My current system is as follows: Intel i7-6700k Skylake at 4.0-4.2 overclocked by 20%. Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 8GB Graphics Card Corsai…

Being that P3D tends to hammer Clock 0 the hardest... Is it best to max out the clock for my core 0 or OC all cores evenly? The reason I ask is I’m somewhat voltage and cooling limited in OC’ing my i7 6700 (@ stock 4.0) and was wondering what was the best way to max the clock as I believe I can go slightly higher on core 0 than if I spread the clock over all cores... Right now the highest I can go with the system remaining stable is 4.7 on all cores. Thanks!

RDR2 is also giving my system a hard time it seems, getting occasional freezes (not stutters real freezes)... I was really hoping to blame Rockstar Games for that, but it does seem it's time for a CPU upgrade. Anyway will keep the 1070ti for the time being as I see it still as good enough to keep the price tag a good bit lower.
