The Samsung 2TB T5 I ordered just a few days ago was on my doorstep this morning, it is installed and receiving files from my sims and other multi media locations, it is very fast. Now my computer will not run out of drive space, and I can get DCS world finally. It is wonderful technology, these solid state drives, when I look at something that fits in the palm of my hand that would have filled a server room with rack mounted servers twenty years ago, when I was a WAN admin. I bought the drive, after a year of waiting for prices to come down, direct from Samsung and with the firm intent of adding to my photo scenery with Ortho4XP for Xplane11, and MSE for P3DV4. T…

I'm new to Windows 10. I've just updated some components and have Win10 x64 Pro installed. I came from Windows 7 x64 Pro. I'm having annoying issues with UAC and or permissions. I've disabled UAC (set slider to never notify) but when I run some programs, or try to extract Zip files into some folders, Win10 pops up a window that says I need admin permission to do xyz. I don't remember this happening in Windows 7. Anyway to truly get rid of UAC? I am the admin and there is only 1 account on this PC.

Time to breathe some life into an old thread.. I can certainly appreciate the ability to separate comms from mechanical sounds, but I would like to take this a whole lot further. I operate a completely decked simulator, and I use a sound mixer to distribute sounds to multiple sets of speakers. Such as it is, I primarily try to - as accurately as possible - route engine sounds to its own pair of speakers located on each side outside and behind the cockpit. Further, I would like to be able to more precisely route sounds like alerts/alarms to smaller speakers behind the instrument panels. Lastly and successfully, voice is sent to an auxiliary jack next to each seat. …

I decided to buy a 2TB Samsung SSD USB drive for my current set of sims, P3DV4 and Xplane11, so I can add more photo coverage to my flying experience via MSE or Ortho4XP. In preparation for resuming my flight lessons, now that I have recovered from and been compensated for my accident, I want to exploit the sims I have to their fullest and fastest potential. An SSD drive will mean faster scenery loading times, I will put the scenery on the SSD drive but keep the sims where they are. It is better than throwing away the computer I have had for two years now and replacing it with another, until Microsoft 2020 comes out that decision might change, but I prefer to sim in th…

Hello, I am planning on upgrading my current system for Prepar3d V4.5 I currrently have a I7-4790K in an ASUS VII Hero. It has been working pretty decently and with tiple 2k, 32 inch monitors set at 30HZ. it is giving me smooth 29-32 FPS, with the exception of shearing/ghosting at major airports, and all airports in the southern UK area. My question is related to the newly announced I9-9900KS CPU. I believe that the main difference between the K and the KS is that the K can only operate one core at 5.0 GHZ while the KS can have all cores operating at 5.0 GHZ. My question is, and considering that Prepar 3d mostly uses the first core, is it worth…

  9. Hi Folks, Just finished a build that's been sitting around gathering dust for about a year and a half... i7700K "delid" with a Noctua NH-D15S and (4) additional Noctua case fans... I had read some posts here and reviews on Amazon on the IC Graphite Thermal Pad - all were very positive - so for around $12.00 I figured I'd give this solution a try... It's so simple a caveman could do it - drop the pad on your CPU and attach the cooler - no goupy messy paste to work with or the uncertainty of using the correct amount... It's supposed to offer better longevity than paste and it certainly seems plausible... I like it - seems to work like a champ... Stress t…

Hi Folks, Just need a little help - working on assembling a new build - a little confused on the front panel header. The MOBO has 5 connectors related to “power led” - my case has 2 leads for “power led”... I’m assuming I should use the 2 pins on the upper left of the header block - - - any idea what the 3 on the lower right of the header block are used for ? Thanks... Regards, Scott

Hey everyone, I'm in the market to custom build a new rig exclusively for Prepar3d V4. I am curious to hear what you all would consider your dream P3D rig would be (computer+monitor only, no home cockpit). I am fairly knowledgeable of all the possible components but unfortunately my last build (which cost about $2000 in 2014) provided less than stellar results. My biggest issue was stuttering and the goal is to eliminate/prevent them as much as possible this next time around. Any and all recommendations will be much appreciated, thanks!

For about two months now I’ve been experiencing a lot of Stutters, I have tried just about everything right down to deleting and reinstalling and still the problem is there. All my drivers are up-to-date. Today I noticed something very interesting and don’t know if that could possibly be part of my problem. My CPU is see temperature of 92° with a 67% load. My GPU temperature is 62° with 56% load. Are these numbers normal where is my CPU overheating a little bit. The weird thing is is that I have my case open and there is an external fan blowing onto the CPU and I’m still seeing 92°. Any ideas? Thanks Oh 47 FPS

Hello All, I am currently researching all the components for a new P3D build and have everything sorted apart from the RAM. My research has narrowed it down to GSkill DDR4 16Gig (2 x 8) at 3200MHz. However when I go to my suppliers website there are still so many to choose from with costs varying greatly. Can somebody please tell me what else is important when looking at RAM. Also, is there any point going to 32 GIG? Thanks for listening, Steve Shallcross, Melbourne, Australia.

Hi all, I have a 500 GB Samsung 950 Pro m.2 that I use for my boot drive/main P3D installation, a 2 TB hybrid drive that I use for my downloads/storage, and a 1 TB Sandisk SATA SSD that I bought last year that is now nearly full thanks to MegaScenery and Orbx. Thinking about getting a 4TB SSD to future-proof me for awhile and I saw that the Samsung 860 QVO 4TB SSD has dropped to less than $500. I was wondering if this would be a good buy, as it seems like the speed of the Samsung QVO, although not as fast as the more expensive EVO series, is comparable to the Sandisk drive that I don't have any problems with (other than being too small). I've heard in the past that S…

  22. So here I am, tired of mediocre performance and having saved up to go all out this time. Hello dear all My D drive is full and I have recently purchased a 4tb external hard drive. I used the Macrium software that I had purchased in order to clone the D drive into the new one. After a while, it crashed my PC so that not even the mouse would function. Nothing worked. The PC was simply frozen. I could not even turn it off by pushing the turn ON switch. The only thing that I could do was unplugging it. After reconnection, I started the PC after almost 15 minutes back ON again. Many of my programs were gone. I did restore the PC. Any idea how I can transfer and clone to the external hard? What went wrong during the cloning process? Any idea? Also t…
