Hi Folks, I have past experience with FSX etc, but would like to "start afresh" sometime soon with P3D. I've erased my old FSX installation and haven't flown for a year or two now. I'm trying to get a "shopping list" together so I can price it up and save the money up to buy everything in one fell swoop, including joy sticks. My PC spec is: 2TB HDD Intel [email protected] 16GB RAM GTX 980 Graphics Card I would be looking at operations out of a sole UK base for example Manchester, to "holiday" destinations in Europe, and perhaps one or two destinations in America, trying to match real life operations, so i'll need a plane such as a 787/A31…

Hi, Been away from flightsim for some years now. Now returning with brand new rig, mainly because we soon have to go with W10. Still undecided if I’ll continue with FSX DX10 or transfer to P3D v4.x though. When I built my current W7-64 rig back in 2011, common habit was to use a small SSD for OS, and install the sim in the root a separate drive. Which I did and it worked flawlessly. But today with W10 it no longer matters? Should I in stead buy one big SSD, and install sim in root of the C-drive, or maybe just in the default directory? Best Regards, Anders

Going to upgrade my WD 1 TB (C:) drive to a 1TB MX500 Crucial SSD. I have P3Dv3.4.22.19868 installed on a separate drive WD 1TB (E:) as well as it's add-on/s. If I clone the WD OS drive (C:) to the SSD is this going to present an issue with P3D?

Hello, I have searched this forum and it seems that FSX is focussed on the first core due to ESP code. So in other words there is little point in going quad core if the speed is slower? Am i correct in assuming then that i am better off using an AMD 5300 2 core 3.6 ghz than INTEL Q9600 quad core 2.6ghz? I know these are old, so am i ! Thanks in advance for any help, Tony Just noticed L2 Cache 6mb for the quad core, 1mb for the duo, is that a game changer? and is FSX optimised for Intel?

For those who may be looking to buy/build a new rig, here in the image below are the specs & results from a rig I built just the other day. At 3rd party airports and framerate locked at 30fps I'm consistently holding 30fps @ 1080p 60hz whether in the air or on the ground with very few exceptions. NO stutters! I have Dynamic Lighting set on and HDR Lighting off (my monitor doesn't support it). As you'll see in the image I've made only a few changes in the BIOS as in my opinion no others are needed. Also the lack of CPU hyperthreading in my experience is of no consequence. The cost difference between an 8700k and 9700k was $26. The M.2 drive actually performs at full sp…

Since I just upgraded by system RAM from 32GB to 64GB, and went from DDR4-2133 to DDR4-3000 (that's the fastest my MB can use), I took the time to do a small test before switching memory, which might be useful to some. The system: CPU i7-6700 at stock clock speed, GPU nVidia 2080 Ti, old ram was 32GB of Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4-2133, new RAM is 64GB of Kingston HyperX Predator DDR4-3000 Situation: FSDT KORD V2, sitting on Runway 10C, with DD Chicago City X and KMDW airport installed. Ultimate Traffic Live. Settings are were of course unchanged between sessions, and I used a saved flight to be sure nothing changed between the two. These are the re…

I am getting some very poor FPS (10-20) at certain airports (FSDT and LatinVFR) and have tried many tweaks to resolve this problem without success. It was suggested to me by someone on a forum that my problem is due to my CPU speed (4.0) not being fast enough, recommending 4.5 and up would probably resolve this. I only very recently purchased my GTX 1080 video card upgrading from a GTX 1060/6 thinking that it would have improved my FPS problem; clearly it did not. I am now considering upgrading my Sim's computer (i7/6700, Asus Z170-K, 16Gb, GTX 1080) to an i7/8700, Asus Z370Plus Gaming Mobo, Corsair 32Gb 3000MHz. Would this help resolve my FPS problem? 20. Hello folks, I am currently running an 8600k @ 5.0 ghz, and the performance is good. I am planning to upgrade to either an 8700k or 9700k because i find myself requiring more cores for some of my modeling and CAD work. The question is... will there be any meaningful improvement in performance to P3dv4.4? If so, how? Also, my motherboard is the Asus Prime z370-A, is the vrm capable of handling a 5 ghz overclock on either of the above mentioned processors? Lastly, which do you recommend? 9700k or 8700k? Thanks in advance.

Guys. I've recently upgraded my setup to 4k. (Samsung 43" tv 3840x2160) on a 1080ti). I have my setup currently running with MCE on. Yes I realize it's not recommended, but when under load I'm getting 4.6ghz on all cores. When I fly, I not only have P3D open. But also Active Sky/SkyForce, VPilot, Chaseplane, Google Chrome with various tabs. Under typical flying load I see VCore going up to 1.22 or so and temps under 62c or so on the cores. I'm continuing to have some microstutter issues. Even before the 4k upgrade. I have numerous addon airports as well as ENVTEX/ENVSHADE/ACSA/AS/Skyforce. Despite numerous attempts to tweak I can't fully get rid of them. The…

Windows 7 64 bit P3DV4.4 (most settings a little under mid range with very little auto gen and at a complex 3rd party airport in a pmdg 744 for example..im maybe getting 10-12fps on the ground and 16-18fps in the air to give you an idea where im sitting.) Hi there, In a couple of weeks I am looking to build a new gaming PC. In the past on my previous PCs I have only upgraded the RAM so building from scratch will be a first for me. The PC that I would like to build will be primarily used for gaming, don't really see myself becoming interested in content creation, streaming or video editing. I already have a monitor that I used on my last PC (not sure if its 1080p, definitely wasn't 1444p anyway). Which by the way, I'm not going to be reusing any parts from. The last week I've have been looking into CPUs and graphics card and have sort of an idea what I possibly want but would like advice on pretty much everything. …
