Hi folks, So having jumped from a 8600k with buttery smooth performance to a 8700k with bad stutters, is this normal? Caused by HT? Also, if i use AM 1365, its back to being buttery smooth. Any other tricks, AM values. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi guys, I am coming from i7-5820K OC to 4.5ghz with Quad DDR4 Memory. It is time for me to start getting the parts for the next upgrade. I am kinda confused with the new cpus from both camps. Way too many options. This time, I am even gonna go all high end as I need multiple M.2 Slots (each sim gets their own M.2 slot - I am aiming for 3 M.2 slots) - even if the motherboard has 2 M.2 (that is fine). The AMD systems can do like 5 M.2 - omg. I really want all these excellent features but which cpu helps these SIMS the most (this is why I hate legacy code in the sims - can never fully extract power properly) Question is which path i9-9900KS or AMD t…

Good evening to all, I got a new CPU today, an Icore 9 9900KF, but when I check on XTU, I see that I have almost permanently a "currrrent-EDP limit Throttling" that I have no idea how I can remove. If nay one as an idea, please let me know, I am puzzled. Well, my old computer is on it's last legs ( power and MOBO issues), so I am going to be building a new system. I am thinking (hoping?) I can pull my Samsung SATA drive out of the old machine, install it temporarily onto the new machine and clone that drive to a new Samsung NVME drive on the new computer using Samsung magician, then remove to old SATA drive. My questions are: 1. Will that work? 2. I need to uninstall P3D and deactivate the license before I do this? 3. Any other flight sim files to uninstall? (PMDG, Aerosoft, ORBX ,etc) 4. If I clone the drive, will the new drive remember my bookmarks in Chrome, etc? 5. Any "Oh poop" th…

Hi Guys, I just got a deal for a notebook with the following hardware: intel i7-8750h GTX 1050 4GB (not sure if Ti or not) 16 GB ram nvme ssd + mechanical hdd. Now, I would like to do some airline flights just for fun, meaning, I won't be picky with flying like I am supposed to do in real life, but enjoy the "game" out of it. I will be mainly using freewares but I might be able to try pmdg 737 or 777 for long hauls. I will be using Lorby's Time machine for time compression, to shring the enroute flight time. the question is, since there is no change to time compress in a meaningful way in x-plane I should be using fsx:SE or P…

Hi everyone I‘m considering upgrading my CPU because I‘m not happy with my performance anymore. I have an i7 4790k [email protected] and an ASUS GTX1080ti. P3D is on a separate SSD. My settings are rather moderate. Autogen all sliders on medium to high settings. I’ve done a lot of research concerning performance in P3D and I think that my CPU just can’t handle things anymore. Core 0 is always at 100% while the other three range between 20-50% usage. Do you think it’s worth upgrading? I thought about an i7 9700k or maybe even an i9 9900k. Any comments about this?

I guess it is too early, but has the team made any public statements regarding the optimum platform for FS2020? Minimum platform? Any statements? I did hear them say no ray tracing. BTW the FSInsider MFS Forum is alive, empty, but alive. I'm looking at buying a new PC and I have $300 more in the budget and I'm wondering if it should go to a move from i5 to i7 or to bump up a model or two on the nVidia card? I don't play any games more intense than FSX. Any thoughts on mid range parts for the game PC to run FS2020? I'd like to stay under $2k. Is there a better forum for this question? I don't see much hardware talk here.

I am preparing to attach the front panel connectors to the Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard, but the manual is not absolutely clear regarding the +/- orientation of the pins. I think that the "+" connections are on the left (based on looking down at the motherboard with the front panel connectors to the lower right). Unfortunately I do not seem to have the adaptor that Asus apparently provide with the motherboard, so I am having to connect them separately (with the lower right pin not connected). Can someone please confirm if this is correct?

Hi guys I’ve attached a link with a gaming pc from Curry’s. Would someone kindly take a look at the specs and see how well this would run P3Dv4? Is appreciate your comments I tried to get some help from the curry’s people but they weren’t interested in helping. I’m not expecting it to be 100% top class but if I’m paying out a load of money I want to know it’ll run smooth. There are so many models I'm not sure where to start. Most important to me is durability of the components above all. I won't be doing SLI, would like wifi, and a full size ATX form factor will fit in my old HAF-X case. I don't plan on using an AIO cooler and will probably use a Noctua air cooler. I have several SATA 3 SSD's to port over from the current box. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, It's that time for me, upgrade time. My current specs and my planned upgrade specs are below. I’m looking for any advice on things I’m missing or things that would make more sense. I’m planning on using the cooler, power, and case from my last build on this new one. Thanks for any ideas/advice, appreciate the help on this. This is being built for use with P3D. Hi, I have a very old machine that still runs p3d/xp11 like a champ. With moderate settings of course. It's a i7980x oc @4.2,gtx1060 6gb, (MB)asus rampage extreme II and only 6gb of ocz ddr3 1600hmz tri channel (CL7) ram. Eventually I will build a new pc but for now I would like to add some more ram to this thing. I read the asus mb datasheet and looks like I can get up to 24 gb of ddr3 ram but I don't know what to do because: -I'm no computer expert so excuse my ignorance: 1) Datasheet says my mb is tri-channel. Does it mean I can only add 3 ram sticks ? I mean 3 x4gb/8gb sticks ? 2) I read somewhere that if I max out the ram (If I'm not wrong 6…

Do I only need to connect the case fans to the motherboard? That seems to be the case in my current PC, but the fan connections that are included with my new PC case are a bit confusing. They seem to have a 3 pin (female) connection into a small adaptor, and then two bigger 4 pin connectors (one male and one female) attached to that. My current PC case fans seem to have those 3 pin female connectors fixed into the motherboard, but I only seem to have one of these three pin EXT FAN connections on my Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard. All of the others are 4 pin connectors. Can I attach one of the three pin case fan connectors to one of these 4 pin connections on the motherb…

Hi, I've been away from simming for roughly 3 years and I am thinking of coming back as the FS bug has bitten again. I want some help as to what new pc build to go with for running P3Dv4, PMDG, ORBX etc etc. I don't have an unlimited budget but could spend around £1300. Must be UK parts. I am running a standard 1080 monitor so no 4K or anything like that needed. How does this look? I'd go with a 1060 Super or 2060 super card but they only have a limited number to choose from so ignore that specific model I've listed. I don't know after looking at a few youtube vids whether 2060 is worth the extra over a 1060 super? https://uk.pcpar…

Can anyone help me source an Asus Q Shield (I/O backplate) for the Asus Maximus IX Hero motherboard? There are some on eBay, but they all seem to be located outside the UK. If anyone has a spare that they no longer need, then please let me know ASAP! This is holding up my new PC build.

Hello guys, I have a limited amount of knowledge in PC build so I'm planning to have my new PC built for me. As I'm not comfortable picking all my components from scratch I started to look at already built options. I have seen two builds that I believe would suit my needs for P3D, where my monitor is only 1080p. These are the following: Build #1: Intel i5 9600K 4.6Ghz 6-Core KFA2 GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER OC 8GB GDDR6 16Gb (2x8Gb) Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3200Mhz CL16 MSI B360M BAZOOKA Cooler Master Hyper 212 Cooler Master MWE 600 80+ Bronze 600W SSD SATA PNY CS900 240GB 2.5" 500mb-s HDD Western Digital Blue 1Tb 6…

For anyone thinking about a new mid tower case and DOSN'T want all the fancy LED lighting, This case is simply outstanding. I'm just moving my rig from a stupidly big and expensive Corsair 780T full tower, into the Define S2 mid tower. The S2 was half the price of the Corsair but at least TWICE the build quality and brilliantly designed. Apart from perhaps Lan-Li and one or two specialty cases I've used over the last 25-30 years, this has to be one of the very best quality (build) items I've ever used to build in. I must have used almost every other major case over the years, but this is the 1st Fractal Design item I've purchased. I'm not now likely to us…

Hi all, I would like to record some announcements on an upcoming flight to make some cabin announcements for an aircraft. Now, firstly I am a tight-Rse, and won't be spending anything/much on this, as it is not important. I was wondering if anyone would know: Would a dictaphone/voice recorder-type machine be better for recording than my old iPhone5 do you think? Just wondering if anyone has used both sorts of things and could recommend one or the other? Cheers, Rudy

Hello all, I plan on building a new pc and I have a budget of up to £200 for a CPU. I wish to pair my CPU with a GTX 1660Ti. I've heard how Intel seems to be the best choice for P3D but I'm not aiming for 60fps here. and if I can continously get more than 30fps then I'm happy. Many thanks, Acerazus

Hi everyone, I'm building a new PC, and would appreciate your thoughts on selecting an optimal processor. Is it better to go for higher multicores, i.e., AMD 3950X, or stick with higher Ghz, i.e., Intel i9-9900KS? Thank you. Kind regards, S.S

I would like to know if my computer temps are cool enough while running X-Plane 11.41. Being new to the water cooled world of AIOs, the temp I see at the cooler is quite different from the actual CPU and graphic card readings. My system is a i9 9900K (no overclocking) a RTX 2080 Black Edit (two fans) and the cooler is a Corsair H100i Platinum, and the case is a Fractal Define R6 (front door open and metal top removed.( Louvered filter closure in place) The case has two stock 120 mm fans in the front and one 120 mm in the rear. The Corsair AIO cooler is top mounted with the fans on top of the cooler in the pull position. The computer idl…
