Hey everyone, Due to the upcoming flight simulator 2020, I m in a dilemma. Should I upgrade my GPU (currently gtx 1660 super) or should I upgrade my motherboard, ram and cpu to the "ultra" recommended settings for FS2020. My goal is to achieve the best experience possible, however upgrading both is not possible for the moment. My current specs are: i7 4790k and 16gb ddr3 ram. My two options are upgrading to the rtx 2070 super or upgrading motherboard, ram (to 32gb ddr4) and intel i7 9700k. What do you guys think the best option is? And if I would upgrade the GPU, will my CPU and ram setting play a determent role in the experience or will they do just fine?

Obviously comparing with same hardware and settings. I have a 3900X with a 2080 Super and 24GB RAM. Benchmarkers are getting around 50fps in 1080p high preset. I am only getting 20 fps.

Currently i am running FS 25 fps on nearly medium. That is only with GA aircraft, anything more and i am pushing my luck lol. My set up is: i5 4690K GTX 1650 Super 16GB Ram Asus Z97-K Motherboard I do get issues with the cpu being 100% on anything more than 25fps and even these settings cause some stuttering. If i went any less on the graphics i may aswell play fsx So, my motherboard can only go as high as the i7 4790K. I know the obvious money is not an issue idea would be to scrap it all and start again, but that is not possible. So my question is, will the i7 4790K give me enough of an upgrade to warrant the…

I am really enjoying MSFS but my 4770K / GTX 1070 is only capable of about 24 FPS. Thanks to my G-Sync monitor it is pretty smooth, but there are those times when the frames dip down momentarily into the 14 to 15 FPS range. Silky smooth at 24 FPS. Not so much at 15. So this is going to be one of those threads where I ask for opinions but ultimately it comes down to money. My money. And do I really want to part with it? My current 4770K / GTX 1070 pc is really a great system for work, and even most games. Unfortunately, MSFS isn't most games. I have 32 GB RAM and all SSDs plus a really nice 1440p G-sync monitor, so I think I am getting just about everything I can out …

Computer build will be my first build is the 10900k worth the upgrade over the 10700k. I know the 10900k is over $300+ more than the 10700k. Is that performance notable in flight sim? is the difference really just 8 cores to 10 cores?

Hey everyone! I have a new PC on the way and I’m expecting to play MSFS at med/high settings, and X Plane 11 with FF A320 with 30 FPS+ This is the configuration I ordered: CPU: Ryzen 5 3600XT w/stock cooler (Not doing any OC) MOBO: Asus TUF X570-Plus (Wi-fi) GPU: Asus Dual RTX 2060 Super 8GB OC RAM: 16GB (2x8 Spectrix D41 TUF at 3000MHz) STORAGE: 512GB SSD M.2 Spectrix S40G (2x) PSU: Coolermaster 650W Case: ASUS TUF GT301 (3 frontal 120mm fans + 1 fan at the back) My question is if I can add another pair of 8GB sticks in order to get 32GB RAM total. This is the exact model of RAM: AX4U300038G16-SB41 What do you guys t…

I would like to know if using an nvme for fs2020 would shorten the load time for the sim. I'm already using an SSD which is reasonably good, but the wait times between setup and flight are a couple of minutes apart. If the NVMe would shorten this, I'm keen on moving to that. Thanks

... on my cpu! I am upgrading my i7-6700k to a I9-10900K that a Norwegian retailer finally got in stock. In addition to that, I am getting a new MB (asus z490), a nxzt watercooler and a WD NVDME 3.0 x4. https://www.komplett.no/wishlist/shared/d372b1d2-af14-44c5-91e6-2d1957e2e7d2 The goods are set to arrive on wednesday (from two different retailers, but hopefully arriving at the same day). Been waiting for over a month for the i9 10900k to get in stock. In the end I had to buy it somewhere else because my usual retailer still didn't get it in.

I've just installed an MSI z490 with a i5-10600k cpu. When I load any flight sim, I see the cpu clock at 4.1 rather a higher setting. I understand that this cpu can autothrottle up to 4.8 without any OC modifications. I checked the bios settings and all looks normal. When I've used Dragon, the MSI utility, and placed the pc in "game mode", I hear the fan running fast, even when I have not loaded the flight sim. I don't want the pc to always run on turbo. Any ideas? thanks tony

Hey everyone. Title says it all. Currently have the following system: 4770k @ 4.4 GHz (can’t go higher OC than this. Believe me, I’ve tried. Lost silicon lottery lol) Asus Maximus Hero VI EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 Corsair Vengeance Pro 32 GB DDR3 1866 MHz 9-10-9-27 Noctua NH-U14s TX850W Finally got my hands on a 10900k, but having second thoughts about building a rig around the Z490 platform, especially with the lack of PCIe 4.0 support, thereby jeopardizing the potential longevity of the system. With Zen 3 due later this year and the purported 10-15% increase in IPC and 5-10% clock speed increases, AMD will likely match or slightly exceed the si…

Hello,' I am building a new P3D server, I have been reading about the NVME PCIe. Could it be a good idea to get a 1TB NVME to put Windows 10 an other operating items, and leave a couple of SSD's for P3DV5, MSFS 2020 and scenery and other add on files? I also want to know is, since the NVME connects via PCIe, and I am planning on installing an RTX 3090 PCIe card. Would the NVME could potentially slow down the RTX 3090? Thanks Juan

I'm in the throws of compiling a list of components for a new sim build, they are:- i7 10700k Comet Lake CPU Noctua NH-U12A Cooler MSI Z-490 MB Corsair Vengeance 32Gb DDR4 2666Mhz (3200?) RAM Corsair Pro PLatinum 1000W PSU Be Quiet Silent Base 801 Case Feedback on my choice of components would be very much appreciated, but my real question is, will the Z-490 be compatible with the RTX3080? I currently have the 1080ti, which I want to use until which time I can afford the upgrade to the 3080. Advice always greatly received. Thanks fellas.

I have a set of pretty nice headphones with mic, which a good friend gave to me, which work well, but are quite cumbersome and I'm looking at replacing them with a lighter set. The big must have, is a good sound quality and bass. I'd like to keep budget under about £60, but any suggestions would be welcome. Thanks fellas.

Hi, Now that things are happening with gpu's i'm going to put together a new build for hopfully the next 4-5 years with minimal upgrading. I'm therefore looking at putting an i9 10900k and 3090 gpu together, but not sure on the right mobo.I was thinking about the maximus xii hero as a good option as i would ideally be wanting to oc to around 5.2 all cores with aio water cooling any thoughts on this? Also probably looking at 32gb ram any suggestions on that? Probably not going to be able to get the very fastest but would like something thats pretty good. Thanks

It has been quite a few years since I last built my current PC. Things have changed, and I have not been keeping up. To that end, I'd like any comments anyone has on the following upgrades. Current system: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Intel Core i7 4790K @ 4.00GHz G Skill 32GB (4 x 8GB) Dual-Channel DDR3-2134 ASUS Z97-A Motherboard LG ULTRAWIDE (3440x1440@50Hz) NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti (ZOTAC International) 500GB Samsung SSD 860 EVO (SATA (SSD)) (Boot drive) 250GB ADATA SX900 (SATA (SSD)) 5589GB Intel Raid 0 Volume (3 x 2TB SATA HDD) 7451GB Hitachi HzW RAID 0 external USB 3.0 Device (2 x 4TB SATA HDD) Obviously, I'll be keeping the 2080 TI. 😉 I…

Hey everyone, In case people haven’t seen this, Nvidia responded to a Reddit AMA (ask me anything) on the upcoming RTX 3000 series of graphics cards. There’s some really useful info here, especially the burning question of potential PCIe 3.0 x16 bottleneck. Enjoy!

I’m running MSFS on a very new (and well-ventilated) Dell XPS 8930, and the fan runs constantly even with the graphics set to low end. For comparison, in X-Plane the fan remains silent after the flight is loaded. While I know that MSFS is much more demanding, the problem is there even with low graphic settings. I’ve turned off multiplayer/group, AI or live traffic, and live weather. The view is acceptable, with minimal stuttering, but the constant fan can’t be good for the PC, so I’d like to solve this. These are my specs: i9-9900 CPU at 3.10GHz 32 GB RAM NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Monitor 1080p at 60 Hz …

Hi Guys, here is my build which shall be (mainly) used for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/dimona93/saved/fDhKpg I've planned to take the RTX 3080 as graphics card once available. Would appreciate your comments on this build! Should I go for the founder's edition of the RTX 3080 or for a custom card? (pros and cons?) Will my mainboard be compatible with the RTX 3080? Thanks in advance!

hey guys, I am thinking about getting a new rig as my current one is getting a bit outdated and starts showing its age. I have not completely kept up with the latest and greatest, and I understand nvidia is about to release the 3000 series in October but they prices will be high for a while, so unless someone gives me compelling reasons, I am happy going with a RTX 2080ti Here is the link to the config I am thinking of, would that be a good fit for P3D and eventually MSFS? https://www.microcenter.com/product/624618/dell-alienware-aurora-r11-gaming-computer Thank you so much in advance for any insight! Happy landings! John.

Hello, I am in the process of selecting a new Server to be used with P3DV5 and MFS2020. I need some help deciding on which one will be the best Motherboard. I will be using either the i9-10900 or the I9-10850 today due to the unavailability of the 10900 the difference in close to $400 between them. I will also will be getting the RTX3090 new video card. I know I need a Z490 moherboard to be able to overclock the 10,000 series CPU's I have been thinking on the Gygabyte Aorus, there is also a lot of ASUS motherboards, There are so many choices that is easy to get lost on which one will be the most appropriate. Can anybody shed some light on what to lo…

Hi everyone I have recently upgraded my system to a 10th Generation i7 10700K (not overclocked) and a Z490 motherboard with 16GB DDR4 memory and a M2 SSD .... BUT I am using an old NVidia GTX770 4MB Graphics card .... The reason being is that I am waiting for the new 30 series graphics to be released very soon I have updated FS2020 and set the sim to High End settings and I do have to say it is running superbly well with no micro stutters at all! All I can say is that it must be the CPU doing quite a bit of the work so my advice is don't scrimp on your CPU if you are looking to upgrade in the future .... it really has surprised me this 🙂 Paul

Ok prior I would always purchase from cyberpower my new flight sim computer, this year I am thinking of doing this on my own. There is enough youtube on how to and thought it would be fun for my son and I to do this. I want to start purchasing items now in prep for the new graphic cards coming out. I will most lilkely go with the 3090 card but will wait for benchmark and reviews. Question is there a site that I can go to that helps me decide what parts go with what? Meaning if I decide to go with an I9 10700K will it tell me what motherboards to select. This is where I get lost and have a hard time finding information, same with RAM and RAM speed. …

I ended up getting Intel 10700k over AMD along with 32 gig of 3600 CL 16-19-19-19 and the Asus TUF Z490 Plus wifi. I stumbled upon something that indicated I could keep my CPU fan: a Noctua DH-14. And I was able to keep my Corsair 750. I don't have one last 4 pin cable next to the eight pin by the cpu, but motherboard and cpu seems to have enough power. There are some threads that indicate this adds heat to the motherboard or was it CPU. So, it was $880 with Windows 10 USB key. FS2020 sure does seem smoother and I can see slight variations in how the plane reacts to different air flows and turbulence that I didn't before.
