My system seems starting to age. And want an upgrade. CPU: 2700X (SMT aka HT off) GPU:1080 8G (Founders Edition) Memory: 16G x2 DDR4-2666 MB: msi x470 With about mid settings in P3Dv4.5HF3 and tweaks here and there, for complex add-on like PMDGNGXu, I got about 30 FPS in VC and sometimes less then 20 in complex scenery. However, with that condition, I found my CPU only used about 33% and no single core over 50%, GPU around 40% load with less than 5G VRAM, and around 18G RAM usage overall with things like browsers, ASP3D,LINDA etc.. running on 2nd screen. I've tried to minimize other software running but as FPS and load doesn't change mu…

With me not being very computer knowledgeable can someone tell me please why my Radeon gpu (5700xt) when on fs2020 is running approx 50 per cent and VRAM is 149 per cent. Processor is running at 33 per cent. I would have thought vram would be high if gpu was near 100 per cent. Many thanks.

Hi all -- I've posted here on occasion (am much more of a lurker); am hoping you can help me with the following. Added a poll, just to track feedback, if you feel so inclined! I've been a casual simmer for the last 20-odd years, and bought my last PC in mid-2018 with the aim of running P3D smoothly. Relevant specs are as follows: i7 8700K 3.7GHz GTX 1080 Ti 11GB GDDR5 X32GB DDR4-3200 RAM Running on an LG 32" monitor at 1440p (for reference, it's this prebuilt model - I upped the RAM when I bought it.) I participated in the MSFS Alpha and Beta, and bought the sim at release. I run on a mix of high settings (can provide more detail if needed), and …

Looking for data points on whether there's any gains to be had by overclocking this CPU? If yes, how much performance should I expect at 1440P? Any cooler you'd recommend? I would be looking at air coolers. Thanks 🙂

I was in the middle of using my computer when the entire house lost power. I have an external USB HDD connected to my computer. I get quite nervous when this happens. What is the necessary steps I should take when starting up my PC after a power outage? Do I need to run some commands to check/repair the SSD/HDD from any potential damage that may have resulted from the power going out? I run Windows 10 Pro.

So I finally grabbed the two most difficult pieces of hardware for my new Flight Sim 2020 rig, but I'm still unsure on which to go for on RAM, PSU & cooler, here's what I have lined up so far: - Case: NZXT H200i - MOBO: Asus ROG Strix B550i ITX - CPU: Ryzen 5600X - RAM: I'm leaning towards 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) but not sure whether 3200 Mhz CL18 is enough or if I should get 3600 Mhz CL16, I could just get 16 GB to save cost but it seems 32 GB does give an edge - SSD: Whatever PCI gen 3 or 4 I can grab at a decent price - GPU: 3070 FE - Cooler: Corsair Hydro h100i Platinum RGB - PSU: I want to get an SFX format for its cooling optimi…

Good day, I need advice on a new mobo and memory, please. I'm interested in 3 x M.2 SLOT and the only available (at the store convenient to me) is MEG Z490 GODLIKE for the I9 10900K. I know nothing about this mobo and wondering if is easy to overclock and trouble-free. If not what would be the recommendation for my requirement for 3 x M.2 SLOTs. Next is the memory 32GB DDR4 3000MHz G.Skill TridentZ (RGB Light Bar) CAS Latency 16 Timing 16-18-18-38 Voltage 1.35V ECC No Buffered/Registered …

Hi, Quick question: Is it normal to suffer low fps at UK2000 Heathrow compared to other larger airports by different designers? I'm using a RTX2080 and an i5 9400F 2.9GHz (I know the CPU is a major bottleneck - I'm thinking of upgrading soon). Tweaking with the settings I find that the biggest frame-hitter is the scenery complexity, which I have set to 'very dense'. I can't remember off the top of my head the other settings, but they're all around medium to high, and changing those doesn't really affect frames too much. My other addons are Orbx global and EU England. In the QW 787 at Heathrow I'm getting around 15fps max , but at FSDreamTeam DFW I manage …

I’ve been running a 1600x for 3 years, and am looking for a drop in replacement. MOBO is the MSI Gaming Pro Carbon which as I understand it only supports up to Gen 2. Suggestions are appreciated.

I decided to start over with my OC settings. I'm running: an Asus TUF Gaming z490, i9-10850K, 16GB Gskill 3600 RAM, RTX 2080Ti 11Gb. Set uefi settings to "optimized defaults". I then enabled the XMP1 profile for my RAM, and saved the settings. I used the Nvidia control panel to set max frame rate to 30 in the Prepar3D profile. I ran CPUz used the "Tools" -> "Clocks" option to find that Intel had flagged cores 6 & 7 as the "favored" CPUs (shown in red in CPUz). These were the two cores that tested as the best on my CPU.So, I added an affinity mask to my Prepar3d.cfg file as shown below. This put P3D on core 6, and gave it cores 7, 8, and 9 to run on. …

Hello all, I know very little about the insides of computers and building them. I am upgrading my Graphics Card to a 3090 24GB card and a new i9 CPU. I’ve found a computer store near to where I live who are going to undertake the work for me. The store have said for my new Graphics Card I need a good PSU with 3 8 pin connectors. I have spent the whole day trying to get a clear answer on whether my PSU can support the new graphics card but I’ve had no luck. The PSU I have currently is the Corsair RM850x 80 PLUS Gold 850W Would someone be able to tell me if this PSU has 3 8 pin connectors for my new GPU? The new graphics card I’m going to be instal…

Gamers Nexus arent happy with NZXT. In case you aren't aware, there's an issue with a riser card on an NZXT case that can cause a fire. There's a screw that tightens down right on top of a 12v trace on the PCB and shorts out. Gamers Nexus believe all of the cases should be recalled but NZXT aren't doing that.

I had selected the 10600 for my new build but the fairly small price difference with the 10700 makes me hesitate. However I am confused by the specs. The max turbo frequency is the same for both (4.8) but the base freq is higher for the 10600 (3.3) than for the 10700 (2.9). I suspect this might have to do with the number of cores? If so, does it mean that in single core apps the 10600 performs better? I wd be grateful if somebody in the know could explain. Bottom line: which one should I select for MSFS? Does the i7 offer other benefits? and a significant power/heat penalty? Note that I do NOT intend to o/c. Thanks, Philippe

Hi, does anyone know what the other MSI board alternative would be to this one? I just realised that I don't need WIFI on it. Are there other MOBO's that doesn have WIFI but other features instead that might be more beneficial for me? micro ATX and ATX: I choosed ATX, because it has 2 more USB 3.0 Slots. Is the regular ATX better for air circulation because it is larger and the air has more space between the MOBO components?

After a 6 year hiatus from flight simming, I'm going to get back into it with Flight Simulator 2020. Having handed down my gaming computer to my son a few years ago, I have gone out and bought a new system with the following specs: Intel Core i9 10850KA CPU Gigabyte AORUS RGB 32GB (4x 8GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3080 GAMING OC 10GB Video Card Gigabyte AORUS 240 ARGB 120mm LCD Display All-in-One Liquid CPU Cooler Gigabyte Z490 GAMING X AX LGA 1200 ATX Motherboard Gigabyte 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD GP-GSM2NE3100TNTD Seagate ST2000DM008 2TB BarraCuda 3.5" 7200RPM SATA3 Desktop Hard Drive Deepcool CL500…

Hi. My english is not so good. I Hope you understand. I made the following conf. CPU: 3900X GRAPH: 6800XT RAM: 32 GB 3600 MHZ SSD: TWO SSD or m.2 faster as possible. MOBO: gygabyte X570 Aorus ultra Am4 Atx 4x ddr. I sent this conf to a pc store and they told me: CPU: They told me for a little more money there's a ryzen 7 4.8 GHz. 8 cores. GRAPH: they recommended to me ASUS GeForce RTX 3070 TUF GAMING OC 8GB GDDR6 . They said to me I don't recommend AMD graphics, Nvidia's performance is much better, especially in ray tracing. MOBO: ASUS TUF B450M-PLUS II GAMING RAM: 32 GB to 3200. They said to me : The RAM, a…

I know, every other post is about that. I'm into FS for 20 years but my only weak point is buying new hardware. I do it every 5 years or so and every time it's like I'm doing it for the first time. If anybody have a minute, I'd be very grateful if somebody can throw an eye on a build I threw together. Just to see if I picked something really wrong here. I intend to use the computer for P3D and MSFS. MB: ASUS ROG STRIX Z490-F GAMING CPU: Intel Core i9-10900K, 10x 3.70GHz, BOX, Comet Lake-S, LGA1200 (BX8070110900K) RAM: G.Skill Trident Z 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 F4-3300C16Q-32GTZKW GPU: RTX 2080 Ti (I already have this component) SSD: SSD 1TB M.2 80mm PCI-e 4.0 x4 NVM…
