Ok... I'm really not making this up.. and I've searched and searched to find a solution... (it's not really sim related but I'm desperate for some help).. Windows 10, 64 bit... fully patched.. I've got a really weird issue with my 1080TI... basically.. I'm running 457.51 of the drivers... and it's fine... good as gold.. no problems whatsoever.. all systems normal. IF.. I update to any version after this... I get this very odd behaviour.. I start the computer (windows 10 64 fully patched as of today)... after a few seconds after logging in i.e. I have my desktop mouse.. etc... can see the screen.. wappaper.. etc.. the screens both blank to a solid colour.. and it…

I'm kinda out of the loop with PC parts been so busy with life. I'm thinking of a Q1 2021 build but wow...there are no new GPU's or Ryzen CPU's to be found. Is this due to production delays from Covid? Or is this a crypto mining issue again? I guess I could go with an i7 10700K as well. But I'd be stuck with my GTX 1080 ti Do we know when things will be back in stock? What about 4k MSFS with a 3080? Will it work? What about VR? Is the assumption that if you can run 4k you could also run VR?

Hi folks, I'm after hardware help obviously. My current PC is around 8yrs old or more. It runs an i5 3310 at around 3.10Ghz, the GPU is a GTX650 and I have 8gb of RAM, with a 1Tb HDD. I use it mainly for flight sim but also for some music recording work. I have a rare opportunity to spend a little cash on a new PC/Laptop before my kids and wife spend it. So I'm looking at what to replace my existing PC with. Now I know I'm not going to afford a super slick, 60fps, max settings PC. But I would like to get something that will comfortable give me 30fps steadily with ORBX, Aerosoft Airbus, ActiveSky etc at least on medium settings. So, I looking for help t…

SSD NVMe dilemma I am currently using a Samsung 970 pro 1 TB and am running out of space. I could just buy another drive and add a secondary 😧 drive but I want all my MSFS 2020 “stuff” on one drive so I will go for a new 2TB drive. I can go PCIe Gen 4.0 as I have an AMD X570 MB. There are 3 just released choices with 2TB options. 1. Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus with the new Phison E18 controller 2. Western Digital SN850 3. Samsung 980 Pro I have read all the current reviews and cannot seems to find which is best for MSFS which probably means it won’t matter which one, but I would like to hear what other simmers think. My real dile…

Hey guys and gals! I just ordered my new rig and can't wait for it to get here... main specs : Intel Core i5 9600K 3.7GHz (4.6GHz Turbo) Hex-Core Processor NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 6GB Graphics Card 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 3200MHz DDR4 (2x8GB) Memory 1TB WD Blue 3D SATA M.2 Solid State Drive Will this be ok for MSFS? Afternoon All. My current PC is about 4 years old and really stuttery when it comes to P3D. I'm lucky if I get 15-20FPS. Installed some scenery the other day and I think I've gone beyond what it's capable of, had quite a few freezes and CTD's. This is what I currently have: Processor: Intel Core i7-4790 @3.60GHz (8 CPUs) CPUs Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 745 Memory: 16GB RAM Motherboard: HP Envy 700-570naStorage Drive: SanDisk SDSA6DM-016G-1006, ST3000DM008-2DM166Sound Card: NVIDIA High Definition AudioOperating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit I'm a real novice when it comes to PC hardware, how each part of the PC is relative to other parts e…

Dear Flyers, I am building my first flightsim rig during Christmas holidays. It is intended for 1440p simming in MSFS 2020 (locked to 60 or 30 fps) . All other components are already in, but I desperately cannot decide on the processor. I am considering 10700K (EUR 380,- here) and 10850K (EUR 460,-). The other main components are: Asus Strix Z490-E, 32MB RAM 3200 CL16, RTX 3070, H115i pro xt 280 mm aio cooler, PSU 850W Gold+. It is not much question of money. I can afford to buy the 10850K. It is more the question of what is logic and wise. My consideration are: Which of the 2 has better single core performance. Some say 1…

Planning on a new build for my current P3Dv4.5 installation, a probable v5 in the near future and, depending on TPDs (for decent tubeliners), possibly an MSFS investment somewhere down the road. Budget constraints are an unfortunate reality and there is no way I can stretch the wife's good will to a 5900X / 10900K or even a 5800X. So I am left pondering and vacillating between the AMD 5600 and the i7 10700KF. The graphics will be most likely handled by the 6800XT (simply because of the included 16GB DDR6). I've been reading about how good the 5600 is turning out to be but going purely on the 6/12 (cores/threads) configuration would there be a possible downside r…

Good day, Allow me to ask: I am building a new rig with the following goal: MSFS 2020 at 1440p, target 30 fps, both Airliners and GA, no 3rd party scenery, but here and there (not too complex) 3rd party aircraft. So far I have selected: Intel i7-10700K (OC), Geforce RTX 3070 (when available), 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz, Asus ROG Strix Z490-F, Corsair H115i PRO XT cooler, Corsair 850W RMx 80+ Gold, Corsair Obsidian 750D case (I know the case doesn't matter, just wanted to share.) The problem is I don't have any experience with MSFS 2020 as my current PC cannot run it. I am still o…

Hello guys, something that I don't realy fully understand.... If you look up the newest Intel Core i5-10600K processor datasheet you will find regarding the memory following: DDR4/2666MHz/Dual Channel. So why do I see that people recommend higher clocked RAM e.g. 3200MHz or even 3600MHz instead of the 2666MHz? Wasn't it something about CPU and RAM Clocks that had to be synced? I'm not talking about OC here but only Stock stuff for my understanding...

Hi, Buying a new PC for FS2020 and considering this one - AMD Ryzen 5 2600X 4,2 GHz processzor, AMD Radeon RX 5700 8 GB, RAM 16 GB DDR4, SSD 1000 GB Will this be ok to have a smooth performance. I consider myself as amateur player, but obviously would like to have smooth picture and graphics. I like less busy aiports, if that impacts my choice.ž Thanks a lot! Mitk

Hi folks, I'm wanting to get back into flight sim. Used to love playing FSX & things look like they have advanced rather a lot since then 🙂. Had my current setup for over 10 years so I want to purchase a new computer & new monitor also. Plan would be to mainly use P3D V5 (with ORBX, PMDG, ActiveSky etc) for next few years and maybe consider switching to MSFS2020 after...so if possible to "future proof" would be great. (Going to be purchasing from PC Specialist and don't want to build my own) I don't really know a great deal about hardware, what's better, NVIDIA/AMD, or even 4k/1440p etc? From reading forums past few weeks - is this the right time to buy?…

So right now I have two HDD's. One is a 1TB drive and the other is 2TB. Which is where P3D V4 is installed. I want to switch the 2TB drive with an SSD of the same size. How easy is it to switch the drive and can I copy everything as it is so I don't have to reinstall P3D and all the addons? Also can I do it without having to reinstall Win 10 either. Thanks

HI Guys I know it was answered before somewhere here but I have few questions. I am planning changing mobo and CPU and would go for fresh Windows install as well. Not sure what I need to to with P3D and some other add-ons. Should I de-activate? Also PMDG, does it need de-activation or not? I believe FSL doesn't need that. But advice would be welcome. I believe that have more or less every possible add-on available..... I am planning to keep all three existing HD's with all add-ons so I think I can use them once everything is done just to assign correct drive letters. Or is that smart thing to do? Once I go for everything new (upgraded) would it be wise to get every…

I bet these will sell out in under a minute. See https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/amd-ryzen-9-5900x-and-5950x-review.html for their review (sorry, no flight simulators tested). Happy Reading!

I'm planning a new build around Zen 3 & Big Navi. I've read that X570 boards offer faster transfer rates on some SSD's due to PCI Express 4 lanes. Is it worth going 570 vs 550? Is there a real benefit for flight simulation? Namely the new FS2020.

I have 3 4K screens that I want to hook up to (eventually) MSFS. Should I get one uber-PC (10900K overclocked 5.1GHz+, 3090), or 3 medium PCs attached to 1 screen each (10700K, 2060 Super)?

Hello, I am looking at improving FPS of my PC. i7-5930K 32GB ram 3000 CL15 2x EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti CLASSIFIED GAMING ACX 2.0+ SLI. Mainly using Aerowinx PSX and X-Plane 11.50+ (for visuals) and with this settings: As you can see, I have a FPS of about 30... Just bought MSFS 2020 and man...FPS took a beating... I was thinking of upgrading the GPU only (for the moment)...do you think it could be "enough" to reach at least 60 FPS in Xplane ? Maybe with the details maxed out ? I was thinking of a RTX3080 or maybe better wait for the AMD RX6900XT... How about my actual CPU paired with one of those cards? I…
