https://www.sciencealert.com/worlds-largest-nuclear-fusion-rocket-engine-begins-construction Pulsar Fusion is a company founded by Richard Dinan. Those of you from the UK might know him from the TV show Made in Chelsea. This guy isn't an annoying reality TV star though, on the contrary, his company have a grand vision and their fusion rocket engine is now under construction.

When FS2020 came out, developers like FlyTampa, FSDT, Drzeweski Design, Flightbeam all had 3-4 airports that came out really quickly. Years later and nothing was really released. Why did QW stop the 787 for MSFS? It seems progress has come to a halt. Even PMDG is dragging on their estimates (though we are at least kept in the loop). But other scenery/ Airport developers seemed to pack up and go home. Many of my MSFS add on payware airports are by companies I never heard of - but thank God for them as my big favorite airport developers have fallen asleep

I was all ready to go. Got my radio check. VFR clearance for departure to the north (Lexington to Cincinnati). Got my taxi instructions and the sim crashed. Controller then closed up. I made plenty of mistakes but the notes I took will help for next time. Do you have any common airports you fly out of? When is your preferred day and time to sim?

I have been looking for simple engine start up checklists for the aircraft available in MSFS. I'd like hard copy so I can compile a binder. I prefer hard copy as I'm old school like that, but I have downloaded a Flight Checklist app on my phone that has some of the aircraft in it. Does anyone know of good resources, or happen to have any files I could print out? Thanks in advance!

I recently had a 'discussion' with someone from the USA, who was adamant that both Bell and Vought built Spitfires under licence ( he actually believed both companies took over development from Supermarine - I kid you not! ). Having disabused him of that nonsense, I started thinking; were any built (or assembled from kits) in Canada or Australia ? I'm sure I've read that the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation in Australia either assembled some from kits sent from the UK, or built some from scratch. I've searched the web, but can't find a definitive answer. Does anyone have some facts and figures ?

The Updated Magnetic Variation data package provides an updated set of Magdec.bgl files (2023) for FS9, FSX, P3D (all versions) and MSFS. New values have been calculated according to the exact WMM2020 mathematical model at epox 1/1/2023. Replacing the default MAGDEC.BGL file with the one provided will result in a better fit between displayed headings and current data. A test/information program (Sim MagVar Calculator) is also included. Documentation and install instructions are available. You need to update the "magdec.bgl", with the accelerated movement of the magnetic poles I'm surprised it's not done on a weekly basis (I think that's coming). Go here to get the la…

July is 'Jane Austen' month, much to my wife's delight. And several Youtubers are holding readathons. In one, a reader held up a non Austen historical novel The Dance Tree by Kiran Hargrave. It concerns the true story of Frau Troffea's strange gyrations through the streets of Strasberg (on the Alsace River) in 1518. It caused such a sensation that the historical event became very well documented. Eventually Mrs. Troffea's strange exhibition led to 30, and then in a couple of weeks, 400 citizens also dancing for hours on end every day until nightfall. Apparently for no reason. And they did not appear happy while doing so. The town elders grew worried and built a…

Somebody whose user name looks like he is Vietnamese placed this short review of MSFS on Steam: " Crashed a Vietnam Airlines A320neo into my freaking High School. 10 out of 10 " I guess he got his money's worth for MSFS right there, LOL. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1250410/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_40th_Anniversary_Edition/

Captains, Most of the PMDG team has been on the road for the last two weeks with a combination of team gatherings and FSExpo creating motion all over the planet for a team that lives and works in a geographically dispersed manner. Now that we are back, it is a holiday week in the USA, but I have some news updates for you to enjoy all the same! I am going to pick off a couple of items that are creating questions, and then I'm going to tuck the "not much change here" items down at the bottom. FSExpo'23: A bunch of us from the team traveled to Houston to visit FSExpo'23. I'll cover this visit in more detail in a second post, along with some photos to detail the fun! …

This was fascinating to watch. I wouldn't have guessed just how labor intensive making shell fireworks is. The largest take nearly a full year to create. The Japanese company this video features is a multi-generational, family owned business. The Shakudama is a 18.5kg / 19 lb beast that you'll see launched at festivals outside Tokyo and urban areas. They get larger than that! The ni-shakudama, san-shakudama and yon-shakudama will literally blow you away with it's 750m launch height and width. The latter weighs 575 pounds!

So my 4TB backup HDD died taking with it all the years worth of flight sim backups I've been putting on it as an offline secondary backup. I recovered everything else I had on there as secondary copies but still has about 2TB of stuff that was lost. I was going to all the different sites downloading stuff and backing up onto new 4TB SSD. When I got to simmarket, which most of my flight sim purchases have been over the last decade, it asked me to download the new Windows app. I thought cool! why not? I downloaded and installed the app, while still logged onto my simmarket account and having just copied my FSUIPC keys and nothing else. When I tried to log into the app, it I…

Here’s one for the history buffs…the MSFS doco for the Ford Trimotor says it was used by PanAm for their first flight to Havana from Key West in October 1927. The PanAm history site and many others say the aircraft was a Fokker F-7 Tri motor, which looks very similar, but not metal. I have found more referrences to the Fokker than the Ford. Which is true? I would like to recreate that flight and am not sure if the early NDB beacons were used on that flight as well. They were installed in Key West and Havana around that time.

on a real GA airplane the wings usually have a main spar and a rear spar where the flaps are. I can never find good pics of the wing interior without the skins....my question is..is the skin the only hard connection to the spars and ribs or are there additional diagonal braces that go between the ribs ?? I know every wing is unique but general rules apply I think.. it still seems amazing that a wing can handle the forces that they encounter...what do you know especially if you have been inside the wings on your own GA plane.....thanks

Got this link from what I consider an impeccable source. An easy read and some fascinating stuff about the possible impact of gaming within the company, and so quite relevant as regards FS2024. Also some interesting numbers. Might help spread a little light and dispell some myths https://www.kamilfranek.com/how-microsoft-makes-money-business-model-explained/
