Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  1. Incident was last Friday night. The early reports seem to say that safety policies and procedures by the airline and ground aviation services appear to have be solid and correct. It must be sort of assumed that this individual crew guy was at fault. ""From our initial investigation, this incident was unrelated to Unifi’s operational processes, safety procedures and policies," the statement continued. "Out of respect for the deceased, we will not be sharing any additional information". https://www.fox5atlanta.com/news/texas-airline-worker-dies-delta-air-lines-jet-engine

Obvious from Navigraph that most of the community is on MSFS 2020 (and presumably will migrate to 2024). Do you currently have a second flight simulator that you maintain and invest in? For those who do, what is your choice and why do you keep a second?

So, as I policed up the front lawn (again) of all the junk some local bear had decided to dig out of the garbage can and flung every-which-way, it occurred to me to wonder how common this is. Just for curiosity, how many of you out there get regular, or semi-regular visits from Mr or Mrs bear? Picture is for example. Our area has Black bears.

Did anyone from the forums go? Is it worth it? I missed this year due to an overdue trip to Europe. Also, did they announce the location for next year? I got a provisional blessing from the wife, as long as I take her and my kid with, so hopefully it’s an attractive destination.

I was on my way back from the shop, my daughter needed some stuff for exam revision. I walked past this guy with a German Shepherd. A passer by was holding a VERY young toddlers face right next to the dogs jaws and allowing the dog to sniff the toddlers face. They were actually in contact. Just as I was thinking what an utter moron he was was, he began to move the child away. At that precise moment the dog freaked out, growling snapping and barking. A sudden vicious transformation directed at the child. This moron risked his daughters face and permanent disfigurement. I just don't get how people can be so dumb.

  13. I will pay £70 for a study level A342 and A343 I will pay another £70 for a study level A345 and A346. We have never been given one and I am jealous of X-Plane's community with their A340s. Meanwhile, here at MS's version...we have not had a single decent A340 throughout the history of Flight Simulator; Sorry Aerosoft but your version on FSX was below par and the main bogeys would slide sideways so I quickly disregarded it. It boggles the mind how every dev and their grandma wants to give us their version of the A339 with inaccurate flight models and bulky wings, not to mention RR only A333 all at the same time, yet in 20 years, not once have we had…

I lifted this from my Facebook feed and thought it was worth sharing: "This is the cockpit in which Charles Lindbergh sat while piloting the first aircraft to make a solo non-stop transatlantic flight, the Spirit of Saint Louis, in May of 1927. Note the periscope used instead of a forward window. The Spirit was designed and built in San Diego to compete for the $25,000 Orteig Prize, which was offered by New York hotel owner Raymond Orteig to the first aviator to cross the Atlantic non-stop, either from New York to Paris or vice versa."

Its pretty fascinating, (and educational) and gave me a much clearer understanding of the challenges and risks. I regret I never got to see it in 3D/IMAX

  19. The hangup I’m having with all these msfs career addons is they have this universal “job board” where you choose your flights. I don’t have any real-world experience with this but that strikes me very unrealistic. for air charter companies how are the flights determined? Purely customer driven? advertising and what about having a sales Dep.? im trying to generate a more realistic generation of jobs.

Tuesday afternoon I attended the monthly ham radio club meeting as we were making plans for the upcoming summer Field Day exercises. Tuesday night I suffered from massive sinus drainage and spent the entire night in a constant coughing fit, unable to clear my trachea from the rapid buildup of phlegm constricting my airway. Wednesday morning I finally drove myself to the CHI St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs, AR. I went there because it is only an 8 mile drive rather than risk driving during rush hour to the VA Hospital in Little Rock, AR which is at best a one+ hour drive. Fortunately, given proper notice, the VA will cover the entire bill. Almost immedi…

Who all is attending FlightSim Expo next week? What sessions are you most anticipating? My first time, so looking for tips from those who have been before. Personally: - Obviously the end of day sessions for both Friday and Saturday. What new info will Microsoft reveal about 2020 roadmap and 2024 on Friday? What will P3D have to say about the future on Saturday (v6 announcement?) - What does iniBuilds have in store with their ultimate airliner? - What is the Just Light product Announcement Saturday?
