Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. I recall, from the deepest areas of my simmer brain, there used to be a scenery, maybe AI only I really am not sure, injector for fsx, that allowed for historically accurate aircraft and airports to be displayed if one chose a date of flight somewhere in the early 40s, 50s, 60s... of the 20th Century? I think it would be great to have such a tool for any general purpose flight simulator. Presently the only way we have to "feel" what it was like flying in the 40s is to play IL-2 or DCS WW2, but it would be great to see "Historic Scenery" in MFS, XP, P3D, AEFS... Having not only historically correct AI traffic but also navaids... No satellites, no sophisticated GB…

I'm not able to sign into the Simmarket App on my PC after I just purchased some textures. I can sign into the website with no issues and all of my other APP that I use such as Flight1, Orbx Navigraph and more, I have no problems. When I attempt to sign into the Simmarket App and hit the Login button, a few seconds later I get a Network Error und the sign in button. I'm stumped and Simmarket says theres nothing wrong on thier end. It has to be something it's missing. Any tech person have a clue on what it could be? Thanks guys. David

This is the story of Lt. Col. Chuck Pitman, an active-duty Marine who essentially "stole" a CH-46 helicopter in order to assist the New Orleans Police Department stop a one-man terrorist sniper, who was responsible for murdering many policemen, firemen, paramedics and civilians over the course of seven horrible days. He wasn't surprised when upon returning to his duty station, he was arrested and advised he'd be facing a Court Martial, the Honorable Edward Herbert, buy the then Chairman of the House Armed Services Committe advised against any such Court Martial! He retired from the Marine Corps after having been promoted to Lt. General. He passed away on Februar…

Something Charles Darwin might well have said: For some species, babies may require months to learn survival skills from parents. For humans, very much longer. I have to admit, as a teenager I might have tried something like this if internet phone videos were common.

I don't think so. My daughter and son-in-law came down from Denver to clean up the empty house before we close on Tuesday, They'll be finishing up tomorrow. They told me to go back to my hootch because I'd just be in the way. So I went shopping and got back to the hootch just before noon. I normally don't watch TV during the day but I popped a bag of microwave popcorn and sat down in the recliner to see what might be on TV. 'The Right Stuff' was just starting. Hadn't seen it in years so I sat back and spent the next couple of hours enjoying it. It's still a great movie! Noel

My daughter got the house sold and I have moved to an apartment in a retirement community. Uggh! Everyone here has a walker and half of them are on oxygen 24/7. I think I'm the healthiest one here. At least I walk better than most of them. They feed us three meals a day. Breakfast is OK but dinner leaves something to be desired...like they think everyone is a diabetic. But I have a small kitchenette in my apartment and yesterday I went shopping and sticked up so I can make my own dinner if their dinner menu is not up to my standards. Kudos to my daughter. In this slow real-estate market she got the house sold in less than 30 days. She found a cash bu…

Pretty cool. Some of the road-not-taken concept art (converted to computer recreations) is also pretty jaw dropping. Its been a ride!

As I was cruising the topics today, I was pondering about a user that used to post frequently on a variety of AVSim topics. In fact we communicated by email too. Then you realize it has likely been several months since reading a post by that user. Then, if you think really hard, there are many users who have done their time here. Apart from being banned, there are many reasons why we post often and then suddenly silence … it’s called the reality of life events! I’m sure we can all think of similar scenarios.

Can constant speed planes manually feather their propellers? If it is possible to manually feather a propeller, is that animated in MSFS, for example, in an engine shutdown situation in the air in the Milviz 310, JustFlight's PA-28, or Flysimware's 414?

The cataract surgery and installation of a Toric interocular lens has been a great success so far. Nearly 100% of my astigmatism has been corrected. Overall brightness and color saturation has increased as well. I had to remove the left lens from my wire-frame glasses in order to see clearly now! 😗

He predicted that in the next twenty to forty years sex will no longer be the method by which most people make babies (“among humans with good health coverage,” he qualified). https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/04/24/the-future-of-fertility If we can create babies from skin cells what else can we do with laboratory created people? Can we make them competitive with computer created robots? Noel

...for LM to consider using this for aircraft and airfield/port modeling for a P3Dv6 release? I'm not sure how, and if, it would also work for scenery design either for low or high altitudes views.

Fleet Admiral Leaming was a veteran of countless battles. He had spent his entire career defending the frontier against the insidious enemies of the empire. He had seen the horrors of war up close, and it had left him scarred both physically and mentally. But despite the toll that war had taken on him, Fleet Admiral Leaming was still a force to be reckoned with. He was a brilliant tactician, and his fleet was the envy of the galaxy. His ships were the fastest, the most heavily armed, and the most advanced in the entire empire. It was this reputation that had brought him to the People's Republic of Haven. The Havenites were a peaceful people, but they had recentl…
