Since I am alone in the house now my daughter has insisted on my moving to an independent living facility here in Roswell. She has taken charge of selling my house and I will be moving next month sometime. It looks like a fairly nice place and while I hate moving from the house I have lived in for the past 30 years, without Betty to help and share the chores and cooking I need a place like that where I will have a one bedroom apartment and they will feed me 3 times a day. But I will have a kitchenette in case I want to cook something for myself. And I will probably meet new friends there more about my own age. But more importantly if I fall they have lanyards…

  4. I sometimes wonder why no one came with an integrated "AI-based" Global ATC robot, a kind of VATSIM or IVAO where simmers will never miss the availability of ATC agents for their flights, being it VFR or IFR. I have never found a fully satisfactory ATC for sims. Maybe - adapted to the early nineties - ATP and latter Airline Simulator 2 were still the closest I was able to find, and still compared to what some human-based solutions available these days, free or payware, it was a very limited ATC. But I wonder why a cross-platform network / cloud based Global ATC, with clients for any flight simulator capable of using it, being it DCS World, FSX, P3D, AEFS4, XP or…

A family was taking a Sunday drive in the country when they came upon a farmer walking his fence line followed by a three legged pig. They stopped and asked the farmer about the pig. The farmer said the pig was named Leroy and that it was a very valuable pig. "You see that oil well on the south end of my lower 40? Leroy done dug that up when rooten' for truffles. And last year when the house caught fire in the middle of the night Leroy busted down the door and came in and woke us all up. Yes Siree...that's a valuable pig and it's now a part of our kin." The father of the family said, "Well, Leroy is certainly a smart and valuable pig. But you haven…

  7. I just found this earlier this morning. It is a brief recap of the capture of U-505 on June 4, 1944, two days before D-Day. Dad was the Chief Signalman assigned to USS Jenks, one of the Destroyer Escorts in this Task Group. U-505 has been a major exhibit at the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry.

...was Johnny Lincoln Clem, who began as a "Drummer Boy" at age nine. By age 10 he received a battlefield promotion to Sargeant (today E5). After the war was over, he was given an Honorable Discharge at age 14 and then went on to complete High School. Soon afterwards, he rejoined the US Army as a 2nd LT, and went on from there to retire at 65 as a Brigadier General. The following year he was again promoted to Major General on the retired list. I knew nothing about this unique story until this morning, when I fell into yet another "rabbit hole" of YouTube! Nonetheless, it is a fascinating tale, so I thought I'd inflict share it with everyone. 🤔 …

BBC America plays Star Trek NG episodes early every morning while I am having my first cup of coffee. This morning was a special treat. No Romulans. No Ferengis. No being trapped in a nebula with no visible means of escape. If it's a good episode I'll watch it for an hour and sip my coffee. This morning was a special treat. My absolute favorite episode. Jean-Luc lives an entire adult lifetime on a dying planet. He has a wife, children and a grandson. He grows old. His wife and best friend die but he keeps going trying to find a way to stop or mitigate the warming of the planet. Picard gains a family and a flute he plays rather badly. But he gets to ex…

The GSC would dwarf the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) in Switzerland - currently the largest facility of its kind in the world – with a circumference of over 60 miles and more than 50m underground. In an exclusive interview, Mr Underpass stated: "The Guernsey Super Collider will not only smash particles, but also misconceptions about the island being a hick backwater. …

From today’s Daily Telegraph… “TWO Indian pilots have been suspended after they posted a cockpit photograph showing an open coffee cup balancing on the controls of an airliner. The incident reportedly took place on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to the north-eastern city of Guwahati earlier this month, while the aircraft was cruising at an altitude of 37,000 ft. A backlash from fellow pilots was caused after they posted it online. A senior pilot at another Indian airline told The Daily Telegraph that the celebration posed a serious safety risk.“

I really don't know where to post this, so if it's the wrong place, please delete it. Lots of people (my self included) has a "tagline" at the bottom of their posts. Mine is "I don't always stop and look at airplanes....oh wait, yes I do" A lot has their PC specs, and I would like to do the same, but I just CAN*T remember where I added it. I believe I have looked in all kind of settings and options, without luck. So if you can point me in the right direction, I will be extremly glad. Sincerly. JL
