Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  1. One of the most unique features about this airport is a series of reversed hold short markings between Runways 4R and 4L. At most airports, you land, exit the runway on a taxiway, and ensure you've passed the hold short markings. Not in Honolulu. You'll need a clearance to exit this runway. https://www.boldmethod.com/learn-to-fly/regulations/honolulu-airport-reversed-hold-short-markings/

  4. Hi everybody! Hoping to get some input as I've been away from MSFS2020 since going on hiatus about 37 years ago and would like to see if its worth getting into again based on how much time you are willing to spend in convincing me to do so. Did anyone ever come out with a respectable gyrocopter, ekranoplane or even a hydroplane for this sim? If so does it have convincing behavior and performance (I think the term is Homework Level?) What type of input device is currently needed to use the simulator to a realistic extent? Would you say a peripheral device is actually required or can one get by with just a keyboard or just a mouse? Right now I have a numeri…

  5. From a post by Hoppie @ Aerowinx PSX Forum 🙂 It always reminds me of two things: Turing's test, and that final dialogue between the nuclear warhead and one of the astronauts in John Carpenter's Dark Star 😁 Kate on Twitter: "i spent approximately two hours convincing chatgpt that we could overcome the physical and cognitive problems required for a successive rotation of dogs to collectively pilot a 747. i hope your evening was also productive" / Twitter

The Rolex Ripper gang terrorizing southwest London pedestrians with large machetes are now rounded up. When police chased them after another violent heist, they fled and got away in a stolen car but left their phone inside. Full of brag photos. Identifying them was now easy. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11750515/Gang-stole-Rolexes-jewellery-terrified-victims-armed-Zombie-knives-machetes.html?ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490&ito=1490 Look what I stole!

  9. Hello all, quick question. I know that Cirrus has produced the SF50 Vision Jet, the SF50 G2, and the SF50 G2+. But what is the Special Edition SF50 G2 Arivée? Is it just a regular G2 with a special edition paint and interior? Or does that specific airplane have performance upgrades that the regular non-Arrivée G2 doesnt? I’m curious to know! Thanks, Alexandre Trahan.

  11. I have a cat named Shadow. She's a Russian Blue. She's my cat. She sits and sleeps by my computer when I am flight simming. She jumps up on the desk and with her cheek marks my stick, my throttle, my keyboard, my mouse, and my monitor. She thinks they are also hers. Then she naps between my keyboard and my monitor or sometimes behind my monitor. Yesterday I was going to show my 4 year old great grandson how to fly. As soon as he put his hand on the stick as I told him the cat went ballistic. Using her head she pushed against the stick trying to force his hand off, I wrapped my hand around his and Shadow still kept pushing against every move I made. …

My granddaughter is here now and she is a godsend. I'm so relieved. She is wonderful with her grandma. She seems to know exactly what to do. She arrived early last night from South Carolina with my great grandson who is only 4. At 5:00 this morning I heard Betty mumbling something from the next room. I looked in and Havana was tending to her. Betty is unable to sit up by herself and she mumbles unintelligibly. It's such a relief to be able to sleep the whole night through. I was doing this all by myself for 7 straight days except for a hospice nurse to come in for about 15 or 20 minutes once a day to take Betty's vitals. I was tot…

I just finished binge watching this tonight. I like limited mini-series. This one is only 6 episodes. If you like Westerns you might try this one out. Nice script and unusual plot. Not as good as 'Deadwood', but it's very entertaining. Like the 'Last of Us' this too is in Amazon Prime.

I just returned from an appointment with an Eye Surgeon and he has scheduled me for cataract surgery on my left eye this forthcoming Friday the 17th. My right eye will be operated on some few weeks later. The only fly in the eye is that I must check in to the Baptist Hospital in Arkadelphia at 6am! I also have to find someone to drive me to and from the hospital or they will cancel my surgery. Unfortunately, the only surgeon who will accept VA Community Care as the payment source is in Arkadelphia, just under 50 miles from my house.

  23. Like this very old video which came to Youtube 16 years ago! But a new expensive one made by Wolfgang Weichselbaumer of Vienna allows him much better to reverse back crank like this new video from 4 days ago. He graduated from Moscow Gnessin Music College and then on to the Gnessin Academy of Music. But what he has loved later in life is wandering around rural ethnic regions to capture traditional tunes hardly known outside the local territory.
