Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

I recently became aware the 03/21 runway at Lisbon (LPPT) had changed to 02/20 last May. Aivlasoft’s EFB showed the change as I flew out of it quite by chance. After a forum discussion yesterday I was made aware an updated file was available on SimMarket and after I installed it all was well. Last year I wrote to Navigraph asking if they could publish runway designation changes for each AIRAC cycle. Here’s the discussion… https://forum.navigraph.com/t/runway-designation-changes/7760 As you can see they refused on grounds of confidentiality. Huh? It’s about to become public knowledge. 🙄 Having a fair number of 3rd airports it would be helpful to be…

I know some of you may have read a recent post of mine regarding ChatGPT, and I was surprised how many had not heard of the AI model, which seems to be everywhere these days. There were some negative replies, mainly from those who had not heard about the AI program, but more replies from those who have used it and found it helpful. Just as some follow-up information I thought it would be fun to ask ChatGPT about updating FSUIPC. I'm not advocating it's use or suggesting anything by writing this post, but just purely for information... Q) How do i update FSUIPC in MSFS2020 A) To update FSUIPC in MSFS2020, you will need to follow thes…

  13. Why its called a jet when its ducted fans is the mystery, I guess its because it sounds sexy. Awesome concept anyway, and now making good progress. Note the subtle, computer controlled, movements of the ducted fan panel. The nice thing about now, is that there are so many innovative concepts around, big props, multiple small props, ducted fans, so much creativity and innovation. Its a fascinating time.

  15. "For many electric vehicles, there is no way to repair or assess even slightly damaged battery packs after accidents, forcing insurance companies to write off cars with few miles - leading to higher premiums and undercutting gains from going electric." "Battery packs can cost tens of thousands of dollars and represent up to 50% of an EV's price tag, often making it uneconomical to replace them. While some automakers like Ford Motor Co (F.N) and General Motors Co (GM.N) said they have made battery packs easier to repair, Tesla Inc (TSLA.O) has taken the opposite tack with its Texas-built Model Y, whose new structural battery pack has been described by experts as …

I have never learned much about Audie Murphy until having watched this video biography. What is most surprising however, is that he was barely twenty years old when he was awarded the MOH, and had gone from Private to 2nd LT in that short period of time.

Friday evening I made macaroni and cheese for dinner. I chopped up half a brick of SPAM to put in it. One package of Kraft macaroni and cheese is too much for me to eat at once so I saved half of it for last evening's dinner. I started to eat it and it seemed kind of mushy and bland so I added a handful of trail mix to the bowl and stirred it up a bit. That made all the difference with the various nuts and raisins and whatever they put in the trail mix I buy. The next time I make it I'm going to add peanuts to it. I like crunch. That's why I toast bread and English muffins so they're burnt a bit. And I fry bacon extra crisp. WalMart has a store br…
