Taking a 757 from KSAn to KJFK we sat at the gate with all passengers on the plane for 15 minutes. Finally the pilot said a beverage cart was missing and that can throw off the weight and balance of the plane. Without the cart, we can’t take off. So we had to wait another 10 minutes until catering got another cart. Was this a BS excuse? I mean can 1 less cart throw off the balance of a 757-200?

  5. was shopping tis afternoon and I had to go down the soft drink aisle when something caught my eye. Cream Soda. I haven't had cream soda in a long time so I bought a four-pack. The unique thing about this brand is that it come in honest to goodness glass bottles and you need a bottle opener to pry off the cap. Noel

I am wondering why if you are coming from the west or north you have to do the long loop to get to JFK RW 22L/ R. Yesterday I flew (passenger) from San Diego to KJFK. We approached JFK at 15,000 ft from the northwest, continued down the Jersey shore for 20 miles. headed east over the Atlantic, turned north over the Nassau County/Suffolk County border (south shore of Long Island. Flew 15 miles north to the north shore of Long Island, turned left and proceeded to ROSLY (which is in Roslyn Long Island) where we finally intercepted the 22L approach. That loop to 38 minutes!! I know we have traffic from KTEB,KLGA KEWR and Westchester, but can't ATC create a slot/c…

  8. Hello I am 13 years old and I'm very interested in becoming a pilot which gets paid, so flying passengers, cargo etc... However, I am colour blind so I do not know If I can become a pilot. I paid for the proper CAD test in the UK and scored 18.6 (6 or less to pass) and sometimes worry It was just a bad day and could of scored nearer to 6. Even though, I failed I am not giving up and am willing to fly anywhere in the world as a "commercial" pilot. The lady who tested me on the CAD said I am allowed to get a PPL (I can fly non-paying passengers in Cessna etc...) which was the only good news from that day. Is there any hope that I can fly or take a different test, hope to ge…

  10. Hello all! I don't normally promote my streams on here as I figured those of you who want to watch me fly planes are already following me on Twitch, but this one's a little different. PMDG's Robert Randazzo will be joining me live for a community Q&A, and I thought some of you might like to come along and watch or put your questions to him. If so, it would be great to see you over at https://twitch.tv/filbertflies. 🙂 All the best, Filbert

a question for commercial pilots... when landing a jetliner the speed brake seems to deploy on its own. But its not on full correct? I mean you have to pull it towards you and then it throttles up the engines in reverser mode...?? is that correct? do you sometimes just leave it alone if you feel you don't need any reverse thrust??

Ugh! So I really thought my 2022 medical woes were behind me... 3 surgeries and 3 doses of general anesthesia really took a toll on me. Despite that I got myself through Physical therapy and back into the gym. Despite eating better and working out I kept losing weight. Then yesterday I had an excruciating pain in my gut so called the surgeon. He saw me at 2:30 yesterday afternoon. Bloodwork was done by 6pm and I am leaving the house in a bit for open surgery to fix what I ruptured from the robotic surgery... Apparently I tore the incision site and part of my GI tract is incarcerated. Not the only part of me to be to jail LOL!!! Good times! And lucky me it also h…

Hello, I realized the other day that I had never actually tried this famous approach so I gave it a go today...let's just say it didn't go well. Looking at the charts, there's a waypoint PR816 that says you have to be at 13,800' and 145 knots. It's then not far to the airfield (maybe 10 miles?) which is at an elevation of 7364'. I understand this is a cloud break approach meaning it's really meant to get you below the clouds then you take over and fly manually. Even with that in mind, I'm not sure how you're supposed to descend fast enough to have any chance of making the airport from there. A 3.5* approach will still leave you around 3000' AGL at the airport. I…
