Hangar Chat
This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar. Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here. Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc. Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view. On Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, NASA's Orion spacecraft reached its maximum distance from Earth during the Artemis I mission—268,563 miles away from our home planet, farther than any spacecraft designed to send humans to space and back has gone before. In this image, Orion captures a unique view of Earth and the Moon, seen from a camera mounted on one of the spacecraft's solar arrays.

Who can explain it, who can tell you why? Fools give you reasons, wise men never try I'm sitting at my computer a while ago and one of our cats came in. Our Russian Blue. She walks up to the closet door for some reason and tries to pull it open by prying under the door with her paw. That din't work so she jumps up and tries to twist the doorknob (she knows how to do that). But that didn't work either, so she starts to walk away. Then I get up and open the door for her and say, "There ya go. Go on in if you want to." But no. She just walks out of the room. Apparently not important enough if she can't open the door herself. Who can explain it, w…

I recently had a rush of blood (post convalescence shall we say) time on my hands and was intrigued to finally try an alternative simulator platform XP12. My P3D world is very settled, it gives me great performance, great visuals and an incomparable range of aircraft and scenery to indulge myself happily for years to come really. That is the Good. Now all I can say and it is an honest opinion for those who care or are interested is that XP12 is indeed an amazing simulator program. Its methodology and processes for scenery and the world (including its implementation of True Sky and its iteration of EA are simply very well done indeed. I was seriously impressed by the…

Tyler Hoover, an auto enthusiast and reviewer on Youtube, just posted another video discussing the Ford Lightning EV. Ford recommends that you not use the heater when charging during cold weather, so if you're out and about and need to charge you'll have to wait in the truck with no heat for 30+ minutes. Hopefully, in the near future, the battery technology will improve significantly from what it is today. Dave

I watched it on TCM last night. I had never seen it before. It's called 'Remember the Night' and stars Barbara Stanwyck and Fred MacMurray. Yes, there is Miracle on 34th Street and It's a Wonderful Life. And they are great Christmas movies. But this 'Remember the Night' is a low-key, unusual Christmas Story with a somewhat bittersweet but happy ending. Noel

Just had a mail now from Navigraph explaining that subscription prices are being "adjusted". Also, my bank normally informs me when their charges have been "revised". And my cellphone service provider uses the word "reviewed". To mention only a few. What is this reluctance to use the word "increased", or "raised", or "hiked"! 😂 But of course they all value our continued support of their respective businesses...😉 Edit: As I was typing this message, received a mail from my internet service provider explaining the monthly fee "updates"...🤣 At least there's an "UP" hidden there somewhere..

I read there are cancellations galore to flights to Hawaii. Often a tourist destination. But 2 volcanoes spewing has some of them worried. Mauna Loa (wide mountain) is the largest volcano in the world. I read a message on another forum that houses in the historical lava flow zones are about $50,000 which is cheap. There is no homeowners insurance available so it's a risk. Lava can take many directions, so usually a house will escape for many decade or a century. There's bound to be unprepared hiker sightseers coming to grief on the lookout trails.
