Look no further. I don't remember how I came across the video posted at the end of this post. I guess me and the kids (5 and 7 y/o) were perusing YouTube looking for videos of Legos, or perhaps Minecraft, when this for some reason manifested itself before us in the 'recommended' column. We clicked on it as the kids reacted with joy (hey, it's a motorcycle after all) on the thumbnail (and I myself thought it a nice break from the afore mentioned Legos and Minecraft). The video instantly caught my interest. I was waiting for the kids to protest it being too boring and too 'not Minecraft or Lego', but the complaint never came. Transfixed they watched in silence, and I w…

My wife was in the checkout line at the super market a few days ago behind a woman who was just finishing checking out two shopping carts of groceries. She had just paid for them and turned to my wife and said, "Bless you" and told the checkout lady she would pay for my wife's groceries. There wasn't much in the cart, perhaps 20 dollars or less. But it was a nice thing to do. Betty was talking to our daughter who lives in South Carolina and told her about the incident. My daughter said it was becoming a more common thing where she lives. In fact my daughter bought a front door mat for her new house and she bought an extra one to bless a neighbor who didn't h…

A new trend is developing in New Mexico. Cashless bars and restaurants. Holdups in Albuquerque restaurants and bars and thefts of safes with cash in them have prompted a trend to cashless transactions. There are signs in the lobbies of restaurants and bars that cash will not be accepted. Cards only. It seems like a good idea. I don't know if other businesses are going to start this or if it is popular outside New Mexico. I haven't heard it trending in Roswell (we have no bars per se...only bars in restaurants) but it is a growing trend in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. I do carry cash in my wallet for smaller purchases when I go to the store. I don't like to …

I have a Samsung 42" UHD TV for MSFS and P3D. Does it make a difference if I set the TV to 60 HZ or 120 hz. I heard if I set it to 60HZ, i'll only get 60 fps max -regardless of what the P3D/MSFS counter says. I am using the new n-vidia 4090card and a 13900K CPU.

They're doing away with the leap second until they find a better way of adjusting clocks. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2022/nov/18/do-not-adjust-your-clock-scientists-call-time-on-the-leap-second Now if they could just get rid of daylight savings time or standard time. I don't care which as long as we don't have to go through the set-forward, set-back exercise twice a year. Noel

  12. While regulators are pushing the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to look into ways to make operations single pilot the ultimate norm in commercial flights. Document links: https://www.icao.int/Meetings/a41/Documents/WP/wp_101_en.pdf and US Air Force announced the completion of two KC-46A Pegasus tanker sorties with only a pilot and single-arm operator, plus an instructor pilot who he's only acting as a security observer, on board. https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/kc-46-pegasus-tanker-flies-with-a-single-pilot-at-the-controls one has to ask how they plan to resolve an unfortunate case of pilot incapacity …

  13. Several years ago my brother called me. He was 81 years old and was still working part time as a programmer for the company he had previously worked full time for. He told me he had to quit his job because of memory failures. He couldn't remember simple procedures and functions he had been using automatically all his working life. A few days ago I was on a long final in my Kodiak to KDVO, my home airport, when I needed to put in another notch of flap. But I couldn't remember the keystroke on the keyboard to lower the flaps. I did remember the button on the Saitek so I went to it. But that has been happening to me from time to time now in many areas. Not ju…

https://www.nationalgeographic.co.uk/environment-and-conservation/2022/11/can-you-tax-a-cows-burps-new-zealand-will-be-the-first-to-try I've eaten New Zealand beef. When I was stationed in Japan the commissary would get New Zealand beef in once in a while and it was considerably cheaper than imported American beef. The best I can say for it is that it was edible. That's not a slur on New Zealand beef. All range fed cattle are like that. We Americans have been spoiled by feed-lot beef where dieticians feed the beef to fatten them up with special formulas that change as the cows get closer to market. And the feed is delivered warm to the pens where cows are g…
