  1. Good day all, not aviation related, but sorta is as tech works hand in hand with aviation 😀 So I’ve been an iPhone user since the iPhone 4, I’m now on the 12 and was holding out on an upgrade until the iPhone 14 was announced to see if there were any changes. Pretty disappointed with the offering so I’m thinking of switching to the Samsung S22+, it seems to offer more for less money. I’m pretty happy with iOS but getting rather bored of the very small incremental updates where I may end up trying the android for a few years. Im not heavily invested in the so called “eco-system”. I do have an iPad that I will be keeping but that’s about it, no Iwatch, no…

We get these a couple times a year. Five or six days of off and on light rain and drizzle. I saw it coming on Tuesday when I had my annual visit with the dermatologist. He's on the 9th floor of one of our two highrises that go 12 or 14 stories high. He has a West facing office and I couldn't see 'The Mountain' as we call Capitan Peak. A rare day of haze preceding the San Francisco weather as I remember it when I was growing up. We don't have to water the lawns for a couple of weeks and it cools us off with highs in the 70s instead of the 80s and low 90s. So Fall has arrived. Shut down the air conditioners. Noel

I noticed that every forum entry that was made by Rob Ainscough (Sim Horizon https://simhorizon.com/ ) has vanished (AGAIN), is he OK? any body knows any thing about him if he is doing well? I'm not trying to be nosy here but he used to be a good contributor to the community and I miss his constructive arguments, wish him and every one all the best. Ali A.

Hello all! I feel like its easier to find answers to this regarding Boeing aircraft rather than Airbus aircraft. Does anyone have any wisdom on how exactly you decide to use flaps 1+F vs 2 for takeoff and flaps 3 vs 4 for landing in any airbus A3XX lineup? It makes a lot of sense how to decide this in Boeing aircraft (no it doesn't, I'm just saying that because there are more answers online), but I don't quite understand the logic for the scar- ahem- Airbus method. Here's an example where I don't know whether to do flaps 3 or 4 for landing: I'm flying an A330 into Heathrow at 342.7 thousand-lbs and the VAPP for flaps 3 is 136KIAS and flaps 4 is 134KIAS... whic…

Not a jump jet but the pilot appears to be jumping up and down right before boarding his F16 for some strange reason I can't figure out.(Commadore 64 'Raid over Moscow', 1984). ALTITUDE increases to 17 meters when flying thru the large hangar door.

Is it me, or am I the only one who simply can't get any kind of search to work on flightsim.to? It seems bizarre to me that something so simple can have you trying all manner of search terms and not retrun any results! I've almost given up! I continually get a 'no results' response, regardless of which of the two search boxes I use. Does anyone else have this problem, or is it me?

Which do you prefer? I have both the CH Yoke and the Saitek Stick. I much prefer the stick. The stick takes up much less on your desk or table. I also find the stick a more precise control. I can see why modern aircraft are going with the side stick. I might be prejudiced since I learned to fly with a stick (Luscombe). There were times I wished I had a stick in the Cherokee or Mooney I was flying. While the Saitek returns to the neutral position by itself the Luscombe stick didn't. I liked the way you could hold the stick between your knees while your were looking at a chart in the old days of pilotage navigation. In flight simulation most of us tend…

For the first few years after we moved to Roswell every summer we had Roving Sands exercises based in Roswell and El Paso. It was ten days or two weeks when European troops were in town and the restaurants were passing out free meals to them if they were in uniform. It was a fun time watching a Mercedes bus carrying NATO troops downtown for an evening of liberty. Roswell welcomed the annual exercises before they were discontinued for budgetary reasons. We had one incident where a Danish troop was guarding a bunch of parked Hummers and a local teenager tried to steal one. He got shot...was wounded in the leg. Yes, their weapons were loaded. The next mornin…
