I found nothing online about this, and I suspect that C-47s had to be manhandled sometimes. Does anyone have any idea how many men it would take to move a DC-3 into a hangar by hand? It does have wheels, but it's also 8 tons. If not, does anyone know the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? I'm trying to get over to the excellent little aviation museum in Kansas City (actually there are two, but I have not been to the TWA one yet) and someone there would probably know, but thought I'd try here. Thanks!

Sunday. French toast. I just finished mine. I have what I think is a unique way of making French toast. I only make one slice. I crack a single egg into a bowl and beat it thoroughly with a whisk. Then I take a slice of white bread and put it on a dinner plate. Pour a little of the beaten egg onto the slice of bread and spread it with a butter knife. Press the egg in with the flat part of the butter knife and then add some more and repeat the process. Don't pour so much egg onto the bread that it spills off over the side. Now turn the slice over and repeat the process with the remainder of the beaten egg. I just use pure egg. No milk mixed with it. …

For some strange reason, as I get older I seem to find it more and more comforting that there remain so many things still beyond our understanding. It leaves room for the imagination.

The Ravens were FACs who flew for the Huong in Laos under the auspices of the CIA. This is a long read, but well worth the time. I might add that people who push the envelope, open the envelope, and get things done are my kind of people. This is the true story of two such people. A Huong General and an American pilot who didn't know what rank he was and cared less doing their things in Laos. Lots of bada** flying here. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/ho-chi-bear-and-the-ravens-truly-adventurous Noel

Note to monitors...if I am not allowed to mention a brand name here then quarantine this post. Otherwise just delete this line and let it pass. I have found the best home made popcorn yet, I got it from Amazon. Orville Redenbacher's Gourmet Popping Corn. All0In-One Premium Popping Corn, Coconut Oil & Salt. It makes 35 cups of popcorn. I have a popcorn machine like they have in theaters, only smaller; tabletop size. I'm a popcorn addict and this is the second only to that you get in theaters. I paid about $35 for a 24 pack. Noel

In a move that should surprise no-one (given Google's history of taking promising ideas and killing them), Google has revealed it is to shut down its game streaming service. Google Stadia is appears not to be able to match rival platforms run by Microsoft and Nvidia. https://www.techradar.com/news/breaking-google-is-shutting-down-google-stadia Was it the relatively poor launch? Due to Google attempting to compete against established names, despite having few links in the gaming industry? A combination of both?

Some good TV the last couple of days. On Sunday evening two good SciFi oldies. 'It Came From Outer Space' and 'When World's Collide'. Both circa 1950s. I especially liked 'When Worlds Collide' because they were preparing a space ship to take 40 people to another planet and all the preparation that went into it. We were talking about that here not long ago. Then last night the History Channel has a special on colonizing Mars. It followed much of the discussion we had on that right here a while ago. After the domed colonies are established the work on terraforming Mars would begin until they have lush forests and running rivers up there. They compared it t…

We in Atlantic Canada just got hammered by Fiona, which many meteorologists following the storm are considering to be a “Superstorm” similar to Sandy which hit the eastern US several years ago. Normally a storm like this would have passed us by swinging east but an existing trough of low pressure over the maritime essentially pulled it towards us then kept it from losing as much strength as hurricanes normally do before they make it to us. I’m in Halifax and we’ve got lots of power outages, downed trees, roofs off some older buildings etc but the worst damage seems to be in eastern PEI, Cape Breton and southwestern Newfoundland which took a direct hit. The damage i…

Watching the video, I thought image is surely an exaggeration. If 2x2x2 is 8, then no way an A380 is 8 times more volume and weight than A320. Eight times bigger! No way! But checking stats, yep almost twice as long, tall, and over twice as wide. And so it weighs almost 8 times more! Cost - $101 million vs $445.6 million Length - 37.57m vs 72.72m Wingspan - 35.8m (with sharklets) vs 79.75m Height - 11.76m vs 24.09m Fuselage width - 3.95m vs 7.14m Capacity - 140-170 passengers (two-class) vs 400-550 passengers (four-class, configuration dependent) Range - 6,200km / 3,350 NM (with sharklets) vs 14,800km / 8,000 NM Cruis…
