This must be nostalgia week for me. This morning I woke thinking about my time with the 355th TFW at Takhli Thailand. One of the popular slang phrases at the time was , "There ain't no way." Our wing commander, Col Bob Scott (any relation Bob?), got tired of hearing that and had a sign put over the door of his headquarters building, "The is a way." That gave birth to the following 20+ minute film where you can follow the 'Red River Rats' in their Thuds to North Vietnam. While it was filmed at our sister base, Korat, they were still my airplanes, my bombs, my pilots, and my guys. Not a whole lot of us left. The bottom photo was a loading crew. I was th…

This question is mostly for ATPs or PMDG pros. So, if I set up a vertical profile in an FMS, IE 10K at wayoint A, 20k by waypoint B, 35k by waypoint C, D, E, etc. how does the autopilot follow that? At what rate of accent would the AP track the vertical profile? Or does it vary by different systems? Basically, how would I set up an autopilot to follow the vertical flight plan profile? Thanks

Today is the 29th anniversary of my retirement from the Colorado Air National Guard. Forced out at age 60. I retired aa few months short of my birthday because I had a part time job at an electronics parts store in Denver and I wanted to make it full-time until I reached 62 and could start drawing early Social Security. That's when we moved to Roswell. Retirment was great! We travelled a lot. We took a month and drove to Florida to visit a forum flight simmer. Then up the east coast and crossed over into Canada somewhere in northern New York. We stopped at Toronto to meet two more forum buddies and then on to Edmonton to visit another forum buddy who was also …

A friend recently retired as an American Airlines B787 Pilot. Our families had lunch when they passed through Roswell a few weeks ago. I asked if he preferred the Boeing or the Airbus. He said he prefered the Boeing because the Boeng yoke had feed-back when you moved it and the Airbus side stick did not. I guess that's a matter of personal preference. Here is an excellent article on the differences between the two aircraft. https://simpleflying.com/airbus-boeing-aircraft-technical-differences/ Noel

The journey, made two to three times daily from Loganair, connects Westray, an island on the edge of Scotland's northerly Orkney archipelago, to the smaller, even more remote island of Papa Westray. This, according to Guinness World Records, is the world's shortest scheduled airline service, a trip that covers just 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) in less time than it takes most passenger airplanes to reach cruising altitude. On a good day, with favorable winds and light luggage, it takes 53 seconds. https://edition.cnn.com/travel/article/worlds-shortest-flight-orkney-scotland/index.html

So.... After the great mining-precipitated graphics card shortage of 2021/22 (and the subsequent mining crash) cards are finally priced recently at where I thought sanity was restored enough to tempt me into a purchase. Accordingly, 6 days ago, I ordered a very nice-seeming MSI 3080 12gb graphics card for $769 that is due to arrive tomorrow. Right after my purchase, those cards went out of stock. They are now, as of this morning, back in stock, at a new price of $1,219.00 Hmmmm... 🤑 So.... now my question is: should I keep this card... Or immediately put it (box unopened) up for sale on Ebay, at the new price? And does even thinking abou…

From the Southwest Airlines Training Center (posted several days ago). Take a close look at the KSEA airport when Ern pans around from the sim's cockpit. Think it is P3D? The agent in the jetway looks familiar (or maybe just my imagination). See

I'm looking into an aircraft I was involved in, a Fokker F-27-100 Friendship twin prop, which belonged to a commercial airline with registration number "PI-C507" (see below). It appears that after a crash, a different production model or type, the Fokker F-27-200, also had the same registration number. (see the aircraft with the same registration number here: Fokker F-27-200 Friendship - Philippine Airlines | Aviation Photo #0134502 | Airliners.net I'm wondering if it was the same plane that had its engine upgraded or if it was a different model. How do registration numbering work in aircraft or airliners? Can these numbers be re-used?
