I was a fan of JetBlue until COVID had them cancelling all the flights I booked with them at a short notice. Spirit I flew once. They are just terrible. I wonder what this will bring to the onboard experience for the customers who hate but tolerate Spirit, and loved (d) Jetblue. Message from the CEO:

I really like this guy's videos, from a soaring PoV, but this one in particular is aimed at how GA pilots should deal with engine failure and land out scenarios ... Cessna Engine Failure Out-Landing: Glider Instructor Reacts! - YouTube With the advent of FS 2020 and the extraordinary level of detail the simulator can offer in as far as scenery goes, I have been actively using it to debrief some of my RW soaring sessions, specially those that somehow bring me near the limits to opt for an out-landing... FS 2020 is very good at least over the areas I usually fly IRL, to prepara for this sort of emmergencies by getting familiar with the terrain becaus…

Not fishing for sympathy or anything here but losing so many close friends and relatives in such a short time is a bit hard to take. Just before Thanksgiving last year I lost my brother to COVID. He was in a nursing home and had a boatload of underlying conditions. A rare type of blood cancer, congestive heart failure, Parkinsons and the onset of dementia. He was 2 1/2 years young than me. And I wonder why he had all those ailments and got away free. Next came my flying buddy. He was also in a nursing home and just died of old age. He was 95. We were both pilots and once a month we would rent a Cessna 152 and fly to Sierra Blanca or Carlsbad or Tatum or …

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7WAqB7dyv1t8jKunD-8krA/videos Youtube channel L.A FLIGHTS does live shots of planes departing/arriving LAX. A new feed about every 2 days. Last month he did 13. This month up to July 27 he has done 17. Most feeds about 10 hours long and he is commenting the whole time! I have heard dedicated spotters called 'foamers' (i.e. rabid enthusiasts). He happens to be live right now as I type.

This suprised me. I know there are 4 engines but I would have thought it prudent to declare an emergency in case of undiscovered issues associated with a failure.

Theres a 'once in 1200 years' drought occurring in the US western states that is threatening both hydroelectric power and the cooling needed for thermal based energy plants as well as drinking water supply at some point. Choices will have to be made. Neither Solar PV nor wind need any water so they shouldn't be threatened.

It appears that a company in China called CATL has been able to produce batteries that use sodium instead of lithium. Sodium is much more abundant than lithium. If this works out then battery storage is going to take off even more than it already has

With leaps in technology will we be able to tell the difference from the sim to real life in 2050? This video gives you a reminder what Flight Simulator 95 was like in 1996 followed by the present comparison of real life to MSFS2020. Thoughts?

We are preparing for a big celebration. Tomorrow we finally drop out of the triple digit temperatures. Our high is forecast to be only 98F (36.7C). We haven't seen such a cool temperature in more than a month. But it is a change. We are forecast to be in high 90s for the next 10 days. Then it will probably get hot again. I'm being facetious of course. Our mornings are very comfortable. At 7:00AM it's usually in the low 70s. That's when we go for walks and take care of outside work. By 11:00 it is getting hot. and it doesn't start cooling down until after dark and by midnight it is in the low 80s Some years ago my son was a roofer in Phoenix. They…

I am curious. I am not a pilot by avid simmer. I was flying (real life as a passenger) from KCLT to JFK at FL330. I am always looking out the window. Looking as forward as I can see thru passenger window, I see a Jet Blue plane at same altitude - seemed to be level coming180 degrees. It passed parallel to us (opposite directions) same level at about 2000 ft away. I could easily read the "JETBLUE" letters on the plane. I thought planes use alternating altitudes. He was flying south - should he have been at FL320or FL340? What is the allowable horizontal separation allowed?

I know there are some out there who are very rich but has anyone ever worked out the total cost of buying all MSFS add ons? I bought all the Orbx scenery for Australia/NZ but that is nothing compared to everything available. Are we dumb or what?

I am almost 80 and the Armed Forces thinks I'm too old to track down terrorists. You can't be older than 42 to join the military. They've got the whole thing word-not-allowed backwards. Instead of sending 18-year olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn't be able to join a military unit until you're at least 55. For starters, researchers say 18-year-olds think about sex every 10 seconds. Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a month, leaving us more than 280,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy. Young guys haven't live…

Now available on Amazon Prime and Apple TV in the UK. Anybody watching? I really like it. Decent budget, good acting, well written. I gather a few fans of the game aren't happy because "he took his helmet off". 🙄 Who cares, it's very well done, that's all that matters. For fans of the game Fallout 3... that's coming to Amazon Prime too.

Maybe they should have given Webb a fair trial before hanging it? Such as first launching a cheap dummy satellite which would have hung around at the same location. Which would have done nothing except count the number of strikes. They didn't and now the number of strikes so far is higher than anticipated. But it's early days... https://thehill.com/policy/technology/3566782-webb-telescope-suffered-uncorrectable-damage-in-micrometeoroid-hit-nasa-report-says/
