Hangar Chat

This forum is for the discussion of things you might discuss when going into an airport hangar.  Please make sure that your topic isn't covered in another forum before posting here.  Please refrain from controversial topics...politics, religion, conspiracy theories, climate change, COVID etc.  Topics that elicit or are deemed by staff likely to elicit heated argument, contention, or otherwise objectionable banter will be removed from view.  We allow some latitude, but please remember that, first and foremost, this is a flight-simulator oriented site frequented by people from all walks of life.

  1. Air New Zealand Chief Executive Greg Foran announced: " It's a proud moment to finally unveil five years of hard mahi, in what truly is a cabin of possibility. One that will provide customers with options to get some shut eye wherever they're sitting. Innovation has driven the new cabin experience from nose to tail. For Economy customers, the Skynest concept, first announced in 2020, will be a world-first. We wanted to offer our Economy customers a lie-flat option and that's how Skynest was born. It's going to be a real game changer for the economy travel experience. " https://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/press-release-2022-airnz-offers-best-slee…

I often thought about getting a Navigraph subscription for the sim integration it offers but always defer because the charts I need are available on SkyVector or AirNav. Actually I prefer to view the charts on my browser because they are scaled up so I can easily read them. Besides that they are free! 😊 Any other takes on the subject? sp

So I saw this on Steam and was really intrigued... Obviously this isn't feasible from a flightsim perspective and the cost seems a bit high but the technology was what really caught my eye. It's superimposing a simulator interface on top of a video background instead of using textured models or PG. It's like using Google street view as a trainsim. Like I said the price is high for just 2 routes and the cockpit seems a pretty basic 2D overlay but the technology looked intriguing enough I thought I'd share. I loved the Rail Journeys of Britain show and this is sort of an interactive version of that I suppose! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1761290/?snr=1_…

Basically the title of my post. I am a real glider nut and I spent a lot of time in FSX glding, but feel like I'd like to take it more seriously. I'm wondering if any of you here has the same love of glding and have tried, or are currently using, Condor 2 and what your thoughts are.

  7. Hi, I have always been interested in aircraft accident reports. Mainly in how aircraft accident investigations improved the safety. I guess almost every safety rule in aviation that we know was either influenced or initiated by an accident. A while ago I came across the acronym of "Admiral Cloudberg". He publishes a new aircraft accident report every week. And his articles are very well written, extensive and detailed. So I thought I share the link here: https://admiralcloudberg.medium.com/ Maybe some of you might find this interesting as well.

Has there been an evolutionary change in mouth size since I was born? I see commercials for enormous size hamburgers and one for a double grilled cheese burger. How do people get their mouths around them to eat them? Here are some examples: https://www.eatinglove.org/blog/cheeseburger-cheat-meals/ Noel

Just finished this one by Alex Stone (if that's his real name). A gripping, 100% true-to-life account of the trials and tribulations of a typical CFI at a typical flight school. Well, maybe not, but it's a short read, on Kindle Unlimited and made me laugh out loud. The reviews by outraged humor-impaired readers are even funnier.

And ive tried moving the OCI folder elsewhere but then AIG tells me i need to install OCI. Maybe i relocated it in the wrong place? Maybe i did it wrong? Any suggestions?

As every year in central Italy in Umbria in the plain of Castelluccio di Norcia located at about 1300 above sea level in the Sibillini Mountains Park, between June and July depends on the weather conditions, spontaneous flowering occurs due to the cultivation of the precious lentil which has the characteristic to be very small, without peel and cooks in about 45 minutes. This cultivation is strictly done without weeding, and it is precisely for this reason that this spectacular flowering takes place which makes the plan like a huge color palette that is visited during the three weeks of flower life by thousands of visitors. Unfortunately the small village of …

The MD-82 came to a stop off the runway with a fire developing in the right wing, where a fuel spill occurred. The plane was evacuated via slides. I have written a bit about the Republic F-105D based at Takhli Thailand. But here's some stuff you probably didn't know about it. The Thud is famous for it's missions in Vietnam where almost half of the F-105s built were lost. It was a dangerous mission flying over Hanoi, sometimes twice in one day. I was a bomb load crew chief for the afternoon missions. I would wander up and down the flight line in my blue pickup making sure bomb loads were delivered to the right airplanes and help out if any of load crews were having problems. First lets remember the F-105 was not designed as a tactical bomber or a fighter. It was designed for a specific mission.…
