My wife took me out to the local airport where I used to fly out of nearly 20 years ago. For beer. Yup. KMDH in Southern Illinois has a brewery right in the airport whose motto is "8 Hours from Draft to Aircraft" with 14CFR 91.17 cited on the T-Shirt she bought me. They have a "$100 Hamburger" that isn't and $10 beer that is. And really, really good. So I had a few inky black porters then went out watch the SIU students practice crosswind landings. Now that's entertainment! They also have a 737-200. So, your airport probably has stuff mine doesn't, but I bet a brewery isn't one one of them 🙂

Looks like the green new deal is starting to fall apart. Germany rejects EU plan for ban on new fossil-fuel cars from 2035 (msn.com) And when you tell the oil producing country's your going to loose your source of income in the future they slow the flow and make bigger profits now while they can.

  7. Been flying the Golden Age Simulations (GAS) Aeronca C-3 and the Taylor Craft J-2 Cub in P3DV5.3. If you want to go lower and slower, these are the planes for you. In real life, neither one of these planes had a mixture control from what I could find out from various articles and videos I could find on the internet and they are modelled by GAS that way. But the mixture control on my throttle controller will still adjust the mixture anyway. I could not find out much about the engines other than the Aeronca had a E-113 engine and it had Zenith carburetor and the Taylor Craft J-2 had a Continental A-40-3. An engine tune or adjusted for sea level will not perform the …

What's the difference between an airport and an aerodrome? I notice in P3D most airport are designated airports but a few others are designated aerodromes. Is there a difference? In Orbx they have some Water Aerodromes for float planes. Noel

Has anyone got this great little program running in Windows 11? I have used it for years over many platforms but for some reason, I cannot get it to work in Windows 11. Have also downloaded the most recent version but no such luck. If anyone is running it in Windows 11 would love to hear from them to see if there is a fix/tweek to runit. Thanks

A week or more ago I mentioned a convoluted and twisted flight I was planning around the world circumnavigating the continents. I finished the flight plan yesterday and this morning will fly the first leg of 251 flights. The first flight is from my home base of Roswell New Mexico to Monterrey Mexico. Some statistics. The flight comprises 251 flight plans and covers 98,932 nautical miles. About 550 hours of flight time averaging 394 miles per flight. The longest flight is an 890 nautical mile over the water flight from Hobart Tasmania to Milford Sound New Zealand. The flight will take 4 hours and 40 minutes. The shortest flight is from Fargo North Dakota to…

  15. https://c64online.com/c64-games/flight-simulator-ii/ What first got me enamored with flying in general was when I was kid on a Boeing 727 Air Nepal flight to Kathmandu in 1982, and my dad got the pilots to let me come into the cabin just as they were close to Mt Everest... seeing all the Himalayas in all their glory while thousands of feet up in the air behind the windshield of a huge flying machine was bonkers amazing to the 11 year old me. A few years later, I got my hands on Sublogic Flight Simulator II and would read that manual from cover to cover for days on end, and oh the times I had seeing the 3D wireframes moving on the Commodore 64 🙂 .. and that started off…

  16. This is pretty cool: https://simpleflying.com/air-nostrum-orders-a-fleet-of-hav-airlander-10-airships/ The only drawbacks are the relatively low cruising speed of 80 knots and the danger of flying in inclement weather. I've long advocated for a new generation of airships, which are much more efficient than standard aircraft. Dave

  18. This is scary, both for the helicopter pilot and the antenna crew! Although I once owned a tower company, and later a Land Mobile radio company, there is no way I would worked with this crew. Watch the man who climbs up to disconnect the lifting harness from the top section. He "free climbs" on the pegs and never uses his safety harness until he reaches the top!

  20. Hey Gang! Sorry, but I had to share this with ya'll.............about an hour ago, my wife walks into my office, where I have my flight sim gear setup, and she non-challantly tells me that I'm a masochist. Upon asking her why she said that, she proceeded to tell me that for some unexplained reason, I like to play games that repeatedly call me a "retard". JAAAAJAJAJAJAJJAJAJ I almost fell out of my chair. Have any of you simmers run into this before? Cheers.

  22. Hey all! I am using P3dv5 and I have the Captain Sim 757/67 and the strobe lights are flashing very quickly and the button inside the cockpit the button you can visibly see being pushed very quickly turning the strobe lights on and off quickly. I went and looked at the key bindings and there is nothing mapped to strobe lights or lights. There is a solution regarding changing numbers under the fx file but that is already changed to the solution inside the file. I am coming to you guys because Captain SIm hasn't responded and was hoping that an avid simmer would be able to help me out on this. Thanks in advance!

Hi There, A few years ago there was a YouTuber named Mr Cobolman (aka Derek I think was his real name) - he used to make really great Flight Sim videos and he had such a lovely way of narrating his Flight Simming adventures. Sadly his last video was uploaded in 2016 and we have not heard from him since. I was curious, does anyone know what happened to him? is he still around in another capacity?
