Being somewhat emboldened by the success of my other topic. I want to ask," How do YOU pronounce Avsim?" I have always said AV Sim as in the word 'have'. Last week I was listening to someone and they said 'Ave - sim', as in the first syllable of Aviation. That makes sense to me but which do you use? Ian

My nine-year-old grandson is now in his third year of LL baseball. After a not so good performance on Monday, Friday night he strode up to the plate like he owned it, spun his bat around like an old west gun slinger and knocked the first pitch into left field getting a double and an RBI. Major League Baseball doesn't come close in fun to watching these little men play their hearts out while the tiger Moms' and Dads cheer them on. Brings a tear to your eye to see these fellas compete with the focus, teamwork and intensity of Major Leaguers, come off the field for their post-game huddle, Gatorade and snack and as soon as they walk through the fence transform back into kids,…

  4. From Flightglobal.com: " British Airways and Iberia parent company IAG has agreed to order up to 150 737s including Max 10 and high-density Max 8. The order will comprise 25 737 Max 10 variants, plus 25 of the high-density 737 Max 8-200. IAG is also taking 100 options, it states. The twinjets powered by CFM International Leap-1B engines will be delivered over the course of 2023-27. IAG had originally signed a letter of intent in 2019 covering the acquisition of up to 200 737 Max jets." https://www.flightglobal.com/airlines/iag-to-order-up-to-150-737s-including-max-10-and-high-density-max-8/148714.article

Old timers here will probably remember Bill Mauldin and his WW2 cartoons and his book 'Up Front'. It was published in 1945 and is collection of his cartoons and his experiences and writings about what it was like to be a 'dog face', a front-line infantryman. I've had the book for years and from time to time I like to browse through it and look at the cartoons. Only very recently have I started to read the test. Most combat books are about the fighting and the campaigns and the personal experiences. Mauldin paints word pictures of the life the common infantryman. Down to earth and personal. Like a truck speeding down a road spraying mud on an infan…

When I was a boy and there was a family gathering the folks always played penny ante poker after dinner. I guess I started when I was about 7 years old. I got pretty good at it but after leaving home I never played again. In the service it was always Pinochle or Hearts and never for money.I’ve been to Reno a couple of times and to Las Vegas a number of times.Whenever I was home on leave my Mom wanted to drive to Reno. She loved to gamble. Nothing big. Mostly slot machines and Keno. We went twice. When I was stationed at 29 Palms Vegas wasn’t that far away and we went several times. Never won much, never lost much, never gambled much. I loved Black Jack and while ta…

Last night I came across and watched what turned out to be the best flight movie I've seen in years. I was very surprised at how interesting it was for someone who is interested in flying. It's called Horizon Line, a 2020 Swedish produced movie about a couple in a small plane. I was not really planning to watch a movie but this one caught my attention, and before I knew it I had watched the entire thing Guess it caught my imagination. I found it very entertaining. You might also?. Let me know if you agree. https://www.imdb.com/video/vi646758681/?playlistId=tt5498354&ref_=vp_rv_0

I wasn't really paying attention to this story, but it's turning into a crazy one. A lady pilot named Brittney Infanger lost her life while moving freight for UPS when her 208 struck a steel tower during a low visibility GPS final to runway 20 at KBYI. Dan Gryder went to the scene and discovered that a local potato plant had constructed illegal steel tower obstructions which penetrated the advisory glideslope. He did some research and discovered that 7 obstructions penetrate the departure path of RWY 02 by 57 feet to 64 feet. 8 obstructions penetrate the final approach on RWY 20 by approximately 60 feet. He examined the tower wreckage and discovered…

There's a new AT&T commercial that I saw last night on television. You bring in your old phone and they give you a brand new one. The young man in the commercial says, "That is life changing!" That is indeed life changing. Ever since cell phones and iPhones have become an integral part of a person's anatomy giving up an old worn out one for a new one is like any other organ transplant, like a heart transplant or a kidney transplant. That is life changing. Noel

It will focus on a Pentagon program that was established last year after the US intelligence community released a preliminary assessment on 144 reports of "unidentified aerial phenomena'' since 2004 -- and could explain only one."

Those F15's are awesome when they take-off. F35 at 1:05 even better! 😁👍 Location Royal Air Force Lakenheath, United Kingdom, is located 70 miles northeast of London and 25 miles northeast of Cambridge. The Liberty Wing consists of more than 4,500 active-duty military members, over 1,000 British and U.S. civilians and includes a geographically-separated unit at nearby RAF Feltwell. RAF Lakenheath is the largest U.S. Air Force-operated base in England and the only U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE) F-15 fighter wing. 22. Let me apologize... Bear with me here this is long. A bit about me. I am a true no nonsense individual, in business, in my personal relationships in my auto racing one thing I have always been is authentic. I tend to speak my mind and I am very opinionated. I also love to play devils advocate. In person those qualities can be offset with a mere facial expression. In written form not always so. The term I use with my customers is WYSIWYG What You See is What You Get. I don't try to be anything I'm not and I won't say something just because it is what someone wants to hear however one thing I always try to be is respectful. If ANYONE here feels I have bee…
