I'm on vacation in India and having a great time. I was on a night flight on Indigo (one of the low cost carriers here, its kind of like their Southwest/Ryanair/CebuPacific) on an A320NEO. It was night and I had the window. We sat at the hold short to let an ATR land and then I heard the engines spool up and we began moving to take the active. But the strobes never came on. We lined up and waited on the active. No wingtip strobes. We then began rolling and throughout takeoff run no strobes came on. As soon as we lifted off - you guessed it - the tip strobes sprang to life. Forgotten checklist item? Or so I thought. During the final approach a…

Three seats welded joined together in a row, flew out of a Lockheed Electra commercial airliner struck by lightening, and acted as a parachute. She landed in the Amazon rain forest. None of the other passengers survived. Was hurt badly but found a large bag of candy in another passenger's bag and walked 11 days along a stream knowing it might lead to a larger river and thus hopefully to people. Werner Herzog was making a film Aguirre the Wrath of God set in the rain forest and was supposed to be on the same plane, but changed his plans. He made another film ten years later set in the same region, Fitzcaraldo. So anyway, Herzog made a documentary of her adve…

The new Italian company ITA Airways has named an A350 after the 9 times world champion in motorcycling Valentino Rossi, the only rider in the history of motorcycling to have won the world title in 4 different classes. ITA Airways has launched a campaign entitled " Blue Legends ", naming 22 aircraft in the fleet to date after Italian sportsmen of the past and present. For aircraft motorcycling, they were named after Giacomo Agostini (15 world titles) and Marco Simoncelli, who tragically died in the race in the Sepang on 23 October 2011.

This guy seems to be pretty broadly hinting at shenanigans, but not being a real pilot, I have no idea if he has a point or is just a conspiracy theorist.... Any real pilots familiar with this have some input?

https://www.independent.co.uk/tech/solar-power-cell-perovskite-b2062365.html Looks like scientists have managed to dramatically improve the stability of perovskite cells. "At the time, commercialisation of the technology was thought to be at least a decade away, however this discovery could push that forward considerably."

I'm just now finishing up my second around-the-world trip in MSFS. And the sim has taught me a valuable lesson about the world's population density -- namely, the world is mostly empty space. Even in highly-developed, densely-populated areas such as the United States, MSFS has revealed to me that only about 10% of the landmass has been developed and populated. (External geographical literature also confirms this 10% approximation.) In other words, in 2022, approximately 90% of our land, even in developed countries, is still pretty much the way it's been for millennia. MSFS can be a great educational tool.

The time has come, the Walrus said, to talk of many things: Of shoes — and ships — and sealing-wax — Of cabbages — and kings — And why the sea is boiling hot — And whether pigs have wings. And of goodbyes. I've been on a two week vacation. I didn't go anywhere but the weather has been nice here, although a bit windy. I got the walker out of the garage and took some walks in the park. After 11 years, 3290 posts (and 2691 likes) it's time to bow out. It's time to say goodbye. I've made some friends here, and many acquaintances. I may have riled some of you and if I have I'm sorry for that. Dugald, Doug, Charlie, Matthew, Fielder, Dave, Rob and the rest of…

Is there a good place or places that one can post links to videos that have been created with MSFS for entertainment purposes -- so that others can enjoy them? I don't make money on my YouTube channel and have no desire to, but am in the process of creating entertainment videos with MSFS. Knowing that "Participation Is Proportional To Promotion" I'm just trying to ferret out places to make the videos known/available. I enjoy watching such videos others have made, so am assuming others might also. Thanks. Sample Videos

This is a duplicate post from Hanger Chat in case you don't go there. What is a typical taxi speed for commercial airliners, when the taxiway is free and clear of anything else to be concerned about? What is the range of miles out from destination where the crew is directed to land via a certain STAR/approach? IOW, how early in a flight is crew aware of what they will need to do for approach and landing? Is it a rule/custom worldwide, or US, etc, to turn ON landing lights upon entering the runway, and OFF at 10K feet, and/or adjusted according to the highest elevation in the departure/arrival/alternate, and back…

Gentlemen, let me explain a little about my situation. Having been flying the FSLABS A320 for the past five or so years I recently built a new system in anticipation of the FENIX A320 for MSFS. From all of your experiences, would it make sense to bite the bullet and try the FBW A320 (in the mean time) or does the FSLABS still hold supreme? My understanding from all the videos I have watched (a-la Blackbox711) the FBW A320 still has its bugs/developments to come but for normal day to day operations it is working fine. Can anyone else guide me further, is the FBW a stable replacement at this moment in time? I have begin a table below, feel free to copy/paste/add to it…
