And I can see myself hanging out with this show, and these people. In Star Trek Discovery, Burnham word not allowed me off immediately, and I never recovered. And as for Picard..... Finally, something that actually feels like Star Trek, though in this first episode everybody talks kind of fast. I suspect because they were trying to fit so much plot into less than an hour. First time I have felt optimistic about Trek in years. https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/star-trek-strange-new-worlds-first-reviews/

😲 Very interesting... "Utility scale energy storage is a hot topic right now as grid operators look for ways to economically adopt intermittent renewable sources like wind and solar into our global electrical systems. Now a team at MIT has combined and improved several existing technologies into a flexible modular solution that could be as much as 30x cheaper than existing lithium-ion technology." Thermophotovoltaic technology. TPT! Plunging photovoltaic cells into liquid metal at 2400 degrees. Yikes!

Hi, just a small question: Lets say we have as small (or big) regional airline that flies planes like a Caravan, Twin Otter, Kodiak or Cessna Citation. Lets say they fly from one towered airport to another in a country with medium to high activity in the airspace (like North America or Europe). Lets say the departure and destination airport are both VFR, few clouds. Would they still fly IFR? Or maybe even VFR? I imagine its some work to submit an IFR flight plan but on the other hand avoiding clouds is also not really easy and i can imagine it would especially irritate passengers. So what would happen in real life? 9…

This is an interesting concept. I can see it used in places like the Seychelles, French Polynesia, the Greek Islands in the Mediterranean, The San Juans in Puget Sound, The Alaskan Panhandle. Anyplace where Island to island traffic currently use ships or conventional aircraft. Noel

This is not intended to be a dig at any population group, just to find out what people think. On Avsim, a great number of people use the way they talk to write. e.g " I wanna buy the new xxxx when it comes out or I'm gonna do this or that" Maybe I'm just too old (and English) but what happened to writing "properly", e.g. "I'm going to buy xxx or I want to get the new xxxx.? Is it becoming acceptable to write sloppy English? I was always taught that you write correctly, irrespective of the way you speak. Conversation is different. What say you?

Wow... Angry Astronaut certainly makes a good case for it. And yes, if so, NASA certainly need to be more careful than they are being with the sample return mission.

With all COVID-19 restrictions lifted for most of the world I would have expected to hear about JustFlight’s show at RAF Cosford, England by now. It's concerning that nothing has been announced. Does anyone have any info about it?

Back in the world of FS2002 I flew around the world eastbound in an Aviat Husky. When I upgraded to the world of FS2004 I did it again westbound in the same aircraft. Both trips I made with amphibious floats so I could land on a waterway if not airport was in the vicinity. I did that in the Kurile Islands between Japan and Petropavlovsk. Then I tried it again in the Southern Hemisphere, but there's too much water to cross. A couple of years ago I decided to try an exotic around the world flight in P3D but found too many airports I wanted to land at in Africa with elevation problems, so I gave it up. I had a number of flightplans covering Central and …

I found a 2019 thread about an issue between the two, which was resolved. Last night an attempted Paypal purchase was blocked for the first in many (very many) times. I read through the message from Paypal, which was not helpful. As noted in our prior communication, PayPal suspended this payment for review to ensure it complies with the established User Agreement and our global regulatory obligations. During our review, we identified a risk that prevents us from completing this payment. We apologize for the inconvenience. I dutifully clicked on "dispute resolution" and was tersely informed they don't do that for this. So, what gives? Is this a thing again, …

There I was, off for a walk on a nice sunny day, when I spied a bare chested man running along the sea wall, 30 foot drop to his right. You do see such strange behaviour around here from time to time, and I admit, concepts like small population, inbreeding and genetic mutation do pass through my mind. Suddenly he began shouting and pointing franticly to a guy in the bay, clearly panicking and on the cusp of drowning. Two other guys were already at the scene, one detached the life ring and the other was preparing to swim out to him, I guess our drowning swimmer was about 20 yards from the slipway. The guy that was running the wall swam out first. Just as he reached o…

I'll be stunned if they have actually achieved this. Atmospheric ion propulsion usually involves miniscule thrust. I suspect there's still a small fan present. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/drone-powered-by-ion-propulsion-promises-noise-levels-below-70-db-uses-no-propellers-187806.html

I like to keep things simple, and follow the techie KISS principle (keep it simple stupid), and use backups and anti-virus only when absolutely necessary. For fool proof ways against bugs, huge updates, or new programs; I try them out by installing them first without making immediate permanent changes to my system. For that, I use a highly recommended program called Shadow Defender (http://www.shadowdefender.com/) For when I feel the need to do backups, I use Macrium Reflect (because you can virtualize and boot Windows from the backup image). For anti-virus and protection, again I also keep it simple. I simply use the built-in Windows Security/Firewall and Window's…

Not sure how many of you follow the Flite Test channel, but it started as a hobbyist RC aircraft channel on YT. It quickly transitioned to scratch building, then toward teaching STEM to children, and lately they've purchased a CNC wire cutter for foam. The channel really took off, and they raised enough money to purchase a closed golf course and turn it into an RC airfield. They turned the clubhouse into their shop, and they have a business selling kits. They hold huge events where they teach kids to build, and then fly what they've built. They're always building cool stuff. https://store.flitetest.com/
