If you think you can't learn from youtube then think again. Were you into trains as a kid? are you still? Did you dream of having a HUGE setup with multple lines and little towns and mountains and tunnels? I used to read a magazine called Model RailRoader and it was mostly about how to build your own scenery. I never really got very far with any of it. But the guy in this video could probably build anything: thought some of you might enjoy it

One of my very favorite movies and I just watched it again on TCM this evening. I love the fly fishing scenes for fly fishing is an art form and this movie describes it as such perfectly. Like the Mclean boys in the movie I learned the art from my father. And I took to it naturally. I was unable to pass it on to my children but I was able to pass it on to my grandson. Fly fishing is a lot like flying. It's almost a religion to those who relish it. I cannot tell you which I like better; wading a river with a flyrod in my hand or flying a Cherokee with a yoke in my hand. I suppose I like the one I am now doing the best. But, alas, those days are gon…

I just got off the phone with my tax lady who had a few questions. Every answer I gave her she replied. "Awesome." I hear that word a lot. Order crab legs at Red Lobster and the waitress says, "Awesome". Give the cashier at Target the exact change and she says, "Awesome." When the receptionist at the doctor's office asks if I would prefer an appointment on Monday, Wednesday or Friday and I say, "Let's make it Wednesday," she replies, "Awesome". Is there a new word to describe something that was really 'Awesome' in the olden days? A word to describe something that would really make me stand in awe of an event or happening? No…

Maybe it is just me but i feel somehow strange every time i press that 'heart icon' when i am in line with someone's opinion on the forum. Is it lame or am i nitpicking here? I think 'thumb up icon' would fit better here as it is also aviation gesture all over the world.

Hey guys. I don't know if it's just me, but when I'm browsing the forums, I have ads in my face literally from every screen direction. I know that this stuff pays the bills, but is there a way to. limit it a bit. I fully get it if you can't, just asking. 🙂

Anyone watched this yet? For me the guy that plays Fett has no charisma, no screen presence, a bad choice I'd say. Episode one was dire. Episode two was better. Hoping the series will improve.

So unfortunately I'm still quite a distance from getting back in the real race car. So being relegated to the couch I'm incredibly excited about this weekend! We've got the Sebring 1,000 , F1, MotoGP, SuperCup and all the support series races all weekend. F2 and Moto3 is some of the best racing in the world, especially Moto3. It's like watching a swarm move around the track. Sebring is one of the most incredible places in the world to spectate and drive. Some history on the track: The W2W team is my close friends. Had things been different I would have been part of that team last year. Sebring is just special. The ruts from the B-17's are still …

Can't be a sporting team, they would never need 1,500 seats, no reason a cruise line would be so secretive, who on earth could possibly need, afford and execute on 4 Singapore Airlines heavies being chartered from LA-Barcelona... 2 350's and 2 380's as a private charter. That's something else! IMSA is in Sebring, F1 in Bahrain, MotoGP is in Indonesia, no American sports teams playing overseas, Unless they are refugee flights Singapore wants to keep quiet for some reason I really can't figure out this charter scenario. Anyone have any insights? https://simpleflying.com/singapore-airlines-fly-2-a380-2-a35-los-angeles-barcelona-together/

Our ATSB here in Australia released the safety report today relating to the Malaysian Airlines A330 that departed YBBN with covers installed on all three pitot tubes back in 2018. It goes into great detail analysing the procedural shortcomings that resulted in the covers not being removed but to me by far the most interesting aspects were an in depth discussion of the airline's cockpit take off procedures, the delegation of duties between PIC and FO and the in-flight deployment of the BUSS system (backup speed scale). I always learn from the ATSB reports - they are always incredibly thorough but the very long reads are always worth it. https://www.atsb.gov.au/me…
