Watched it on my big screen TV.  I'll get the episodes when release on Netflix!

Awaiting the new Microsoft Flight Sim and the purchase of a new system.  Running a Chromebook for now!

Episode 2 was bad, dodgy. Dialogue awful at times and ridiculous stuff like "ntergalactic criminal". Since when has the Federation been intergalactic. 🙄

What's happened to the talented writers that worked on TNG and DS9?

I would guess its a euphemism, like "international criminal" which certainly doesn't mean a person is wanted in every last place in the world....

So a person who is wanted in only one country would never be called an international criminal, and a person who is wanted in only one galaxy would never be called an intergalactic criminal.

Was Stargate Atlantis the only series involving travel to another galaxy? I think the series "Dark Matter" involved the capability to jump to a parallel universe.

I've always thought of the Star Trek galaxy as being divided up into the equivalent of "countries" via the various "national" groupings like the Klingons, Ferengi, Romulans, etc, etc.....

In which case you might call a person wanted by multiple empires/groupings, an 'Intergalactic" criminal without meaning that every single last species/grouping both known and unknown was looking to apprehend that person....

How about "intragalactic"? I suppose "interplanetary" is too limiting since these empires are spread over several planets and possibly several solar systems.

They were quadrants. Alpha, Gamma, Delta etc.

And the individual in question should have been referred to as an Interstellar Criminal.

But anyway, it was not good, more like Doctor Who in places. Acting bad, writing bad, pathetic villain that was laughable.

The individuals responsible can't write science fiction. However... because its Trek, because its TNG, because its science fiction, I can extract some enjoyment from the proceedings.

This show has reinvigorated the concept of Star Trek to me, which beforehand had been so undermined in my head by Star Trek discovery, that I actually was feeling that the franchise was dead.

Now I'm on The Flipping edge of my seat. So far this season has been shocking, scary, heartbreaking, exciting, and much offensive initials not allowed has occurred. Warning! Season spoilers!

I've liked the last couple of episodes better to be honest. 👍 I saw more of the Picard I knew and loved. A bit of conflict and aggression and strong emotion brought it out of Patrick.

Still not in the league of TNG and DS9 though. Those guy's were very talented writers.

I get the impression, with the new stuff, that the director might be at fault. Its almost like they're too reluctant to stop an actor and suggest another attempt, better acting. Maybe its because they're "stars" of the old shows. Too reluctant to say, "yep, that was garbage, try again".

Haven't been able to watch it yet but seeing Ensign Ro is pretty epic, one of the best characters from TNG

The "fire" in the port nacelle was obviously the result of bad science. With no oxygen to fuel the fire, it should have extinguished itself in a few seconds...

I thought of that as well, unless the fire was being fed oxygen from the hull breach, or the blue gas we saw escaping was both oxygenated and flammable....

Fires can certainly burn in space as long as what is burning contains oxygen. But apparently, with no gravity its dome shaped or spherical. And it can continue to smolder for a long time.

Bullets' fire in space of course, as they contain their own oxidizer. No need for phasers.
