Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

Yesterday afternoon about 4:00 I started the install for the latest update, #7 I think. It was finished at 9 AM today. A total of 15 hours. It was running at 1.5 to 2+ mb/sec. Speedtest.net told me my connection was 20 to 30 mbps. Is this about right for one of these downloads or is there some problem with my equipment?

Why do so few airports have ILS approaches in the sim? Doesn't seem correct. Is this something yet to be done? LouP

I trouble shot this all day and can't figure it out. Namely. My freelook mouse controls don't work anymore since SU7. Holding right to look around doesn't work. The assignments are all correct. It's the default mouse setup but nothing works. Even mid-click doesn't work to reset anything. I'm out of ideas. Anyone else have this issue and found a way to resolve it?

Hello, when I start MSFS the mouse is always the default controller instead of my Logitech joystick. I have Googled to try and find a file to edit so the joystick is default to no avail. Does anyone know a way to make the joystick the default controller? Thank you for your time, Jack

Anyone actually figure out how to fly this thing efficiently without having to ram the yoke forward constantly? It seems like a lot of the buttons you would need to fly it correctly do not work in the VC. Thanks, LouP

So we had heard from Aerosoft about the CRJ sales and what a success it was for Aerosoft. Mathias from Aerosoft said about the CRJ sales, "From the publishers point of view... sales are very very strong. I can tell you some glasses were raised." For the longest time, I was wondering how the sales were for the DC6 in MSFS and whether PMDG would see the same success as Aerosoft. Is there a way to tune a VOR freq and get a CDI needle up on the left MFD? I assume you could get a tacan or VOR needle on it. I've noticed the UFCP has some sort of autopilot you can enable as well. What buttons do I push? nohsi by Ryan Butterworth, on Flickr

No sure if everyone remembered to change the microsoft flight simulator 2020 .EXE file back to disable full screen optimization? Sim update 7 turned it on for me. After I switched it off much better performance. Just a reminder for people that may be having problem after update. Thanks Anthony

Hey, I just want to let potential buyers know that there is currently an issue with switches interaction with the Xbox version of the PMDG DC-6. User are reporting they can can't turn on battery and other switches. 1. Water (ocean, lakes, rivers, streams) colors totally different depending on the depth and angle of the sun 2. Sky colors...more intense and not washed out, even in haze conditions. 3. Terrain...the best rendering so far of natural color, (shaders!) and even better running MSFS-G. I see the difference clearly between the shaders of DX11 and DX 12 Beta. I also picked up in most places an extra 1 or 2 FPS, but nothing below my normal 29/30 floor. Heading up the west Michigan coast near Manistee... DX12

Hi All I’ve been working on the G36 Improvement Project for a while and I’ve started to wonder about having a go at building a complete aircraft. I have an aircraft (but not set on it yet) in mind but wondered whether anyone in the community knew of anywhere that sold plan views that we can use when building the plane in Blender? Side, Top, Front etc. I’m looking for a GA aircraft, something that is not too ambitious. I like the look of the Piper Meridian M500 as this could sit nicely alongside the hanger with the TBM but it might be a little complicated as a first project. I apologize for my criticism, but Helsinki's photogrammetry is a rather poor performance from MS / Asobo. Happy: From a distance, Helsinki is real Bad: Close-up of photogrammetry buildings looks scary, as do photogrammetry buildings (this is true all over the world). Can anyone please recommend me a good monitor setup for MSFS? I have an old i7 2600k with gtx960 that performs really well with MSFS, but need a better monitor, also with a future PC upgrade in mind. I was thinking a 43 inch like the LG42BN70u might work, but I heard it is not that great for gaming. I am interested in the ultrawide monitors (eg LG ultragear 34 inch), but does that not stretch the image? How about dual monitors? I do photo and video editing as well. Thanks for any tips!!

We know PMDG announced that the DC-6 will be coming to Xbox consoles, but does anybody know if the 737 for example will be arriving on Xbox consoles too?

I would love to buy a scenery add-on that accurately models all 50 state capitol buildings, plus the Capitol Building in Washington, DC. I do own Drzewiecki Design's Washington DC, and it is spectacular. The National Capitol Building looks wonderful in Drzewiecki's add-on. But the remaining 50 state capitol buildings in the default MSFS scenery look either mediocre or downright terrible. For technical reasons, BlackShark doesn't do a good job with domed buildings. And most of the state capitol buildings are domed. Since there are only 51 items to model, I don't think it would take a skilled developer terribly long to construct such an add-on. Hi folks, To those having bad stutters since SU7, try turning OFF the Motion Blur setting and see if it helps. It works nicely for me. (And Asobo... please STOP playing with settings or give us a way to save them locally!!! 🤬)

I know there is an issue with steering whilst taxing. But I can't find a sweet spot using the Sensitivity settings for my Logitech Rudder pedals. And the main reason is I don’t understand all of the 6 settings available. Can someone give me a heads up on this? I don't like using the Accessibility option as I find the aircraft jerks a bit once the wheels leave the ground. Any help would be much appreciated

It would seem we need to wait for Ms/Asobo to "update the update" ...then wait for the developers to update their work before we can fly many of the addons we have paid for. This will take weeks if not months and then the process begins again. This is the seventh time. How much longer will this nonsense continue? The money is nothing compared too the amount of time they are demanding of us to search for solutions ... find there are none and then continue the wait.
