Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020/2024)

I am looking for a turboprop to fly to learn the basics. What aircraft do Avsim users consider to be the best for this?

This amazing app I was a beta tester on is now out, it's fabulous and adds so much that is missing by default (like runway sounds, wind, reversers noise, turbulence, gear drag and more). Now it has the same head effects that we all on XP-11 got used to!! A must have I would say..... but yet there will be those that claim it's not necessary.... I spend my life flying a 30 million dollar corporate jet - I can tell you from this and anyone watching youtube cockpit videos, aircraft and runways are loud and rattly.

Good afternoon! I’m in the beginning phase of putting together a home flight sim and I’ve decided on MSFS2020. I’ll probably fly all the planes, but it’s going to be primarily used for the two aircraft I fly real world (C-172 and Citation CJ). My question is regarding external toggle type switches… Once I get my simulator set up, I’d like to add (in somewhat actual position) light switches, anti-ice, and ignition (I realize that the CJ4 doesn’t have ignition switches, I primarily am in the CJ2 which does, so I’ll have those in there not connected, but to do per muscle memory. Hi, i would like to start getting into a new airplane after Sim Update 10 drops. I would like to learn the WT CJ4. I see its currently on 0.12 and Beta so my question would be. Does it make sense to start using this plane for actual learning and serious flying? Or is it still at a point were it only makes sense to use if you want to help find bugs?

Don’t know where I was but it was before noon PDT and when I saw it I knew exactly what it was, a partial eclipse, but did not know why. Then I saw on the news later that there was a partial eclipse that occurred today. Pretty cool Anyone else? -B

Hello Pilots .. This is what I got when I downgrade from beta 11 to SU10 ! and when I go back to beta 11 version everything works fine, I restarted my pc and also I validate data from steam and still the same issue with SU10. any suggestions ?

Is it just me or has the option to select the ILS approach to 26LorR gone in the MSFS 2020 flight planning page?

Last couple days while flying Cessna 414 even before and after SU 10 update I will get a warning that MSFS 2020 is going to close due to GPU overheat. After shutting down I'll pull up MSI monitor and the temp is well within normal limits. I have my fan running high when playing any PC stuff. Never happens with XP11.

Hi folks, Some time ago I purchased both Rex Accuseason and Rex Weather Force. I have been using Accuseason for some time now but I have never even installed Weather Force. Before installing it, I am soliciting for opinions as to whether they like the product, whether it is better than the weather simulation in the sim, etc. I appreciate anyone being willing to take the time to give me some feedback. I'm obsessed with my wingviews and just have to set them up using real world pics as a reference. It takes some time so I make sure I back up the cameras.cfg . With the latest Fenix update (v1.0.5.139) a new option was introduced to set the sidestick Lighter or Heavier. Did anybody already tried this option and if so, where can I find it and does it work well? Thanks.

Am I the only one who is disturbed by the way the MSFS flight model reacts when landing? Since the release of MSFS 2020, I noticed this problem and it kept going update after update. The problem is about the behavior of the aircraft when touching down when landing. It always tends to turn left or right, forcing you to apply a strong rudder correction that is not realistic at all. I used to be a private pilot, I flew the Cessna 152, 172, Piper PA-28, Socata TB-9. I also flew professional airline simulators, A320 and CRJ. I never saw such behavior in real life. I was reading a thread concerning performance of an RTX4090 and it brought up a question. At present I have an i7-8700K on an ASUS Z370 motherboard running Win10/64 on 32Gb of RAM. With 3 SSDs one for the OS, one solely for MSFS and the third for bulk storage. I built this several years ago and it is still more than adequate for my needs. I recently upgraded to a 34" 3440x1440 165 Hz monitor. My next step will be to replace my antiquated GTX 1060 6Gb with a 3000 series nVidia GPU and a 1000 watt PSU. ....is what I used to say in the "good old days" of P3D - then I remember that I paid an addon company 5 bucks for raindrops. Never quite understood why folks expect liveries to be free - after all, a lot of hard work goes into making those. In that spirit, I bought the STOL ADDICTS HJET HIGH ROLLERS PACK MSFS from MSFS. If the PMDG 737-600 is on a locked VNAV Path, is this as good as a GS or GP. I came in about 700 feet high over Rifle County Airport in Colorado (KRIL), even though it showed a locked VNAV Path. I'm not sure if this is my fault, this airport's GS setup, the Sim's fault, or PMDG's fault. All I know is, I've really seen a lot more ILS issues since about SU9 than prior versions. In SU 8 it seemed like almost every ILS was coming in about right. Not sure though, could be luck of the draw.

This freeware P92 has a pretty decent exterior model and a fully animated 3D cockpit. An addition to a recent update was support for the GTN 750, serious avionics capabilities including autopilot.
