Hi Im still using fs9 because of the aircraft im using which is the cessna 172 learner which has digital gauges (not available on FSX) My problem is setting cloud layer. For instance set to overcast and a base layer of 800 feet tops of 10000. Approach the airport with a mile visibility and I cant see the runway till I get below 300 feet and by then its too late. Any explanation would be welcome. Thanks

Its more of a curiosity at this point than a totally ready for prime time option, but with that being said, there are a few things that show some of the potential... Especially if you imagine flicking buttons and turning dials in a VR cockpit... Hello everybody, I am finally able to bite the financial bullet and purchase the Occulus Quest or Rift S. My system is AMD 3900 CPU, 32GB RAM and a GTX1080ti. My intention is to use this exclusively with FightSim (P3D4.5 and 5.1), XPlane11 and MSFS2020 (hoping that their VR improves shortly) However, I would like some confirmations please. 1. Which is the better buy Quest 2 264gb or the Rift S with Flightsim in mind. 2. Hand tracking is essential for me and I believe that Quest 2 has it incorporated but Rift S does not have it Is this true? 3. If Quest 2 does have it, do I need to use the controllers. If it does not include hand tracking whe…

  7. I have owned my HP Reverb G2 for a couple of months. I am curious about VR headset owners use of it vs ordinary 2D monitor with Track Ir. As I see and have experienced there are advantages and disadvantages for both options which could summarized as this. If you only use VR why does not its disadvantages sometimes pull you to monitor use ? VR Advantages 3D display makes a completely new immersion and realism since you see the world in 3D and the environment in normal size. It looks like you are really sitting in a real cockpit. Disadvantages Requires much more of the computer so you have to turn down the settings of the sim Headset uncomfortable to wear…

  8. Hello. I ssem to be unable to supersample the valve index using steamvr in P3D v4.5 above 100%. I can lower it to below 100%, which makes visually a huge difference. However, increasing resolution in steamvr settings to say 170% makes visually absolutely no difference compared to 100%. I'm running the index at 144Hz. Any help would be highly appreciated. Best regards, Toto

  10. Hello, I´m plannning to buy the HP Reverb G2 for my PC, using the MSFS2020. I hope, that someone in this forum can give an answer to my questions even if it is YES or NO: I don´t know exactly if my PC specs are ok for using the Reverb G2 together with the MSFS. Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X, MSI B550, Radeon rx5700xt Nitro+, 32GB RAM 3200, 2 x NVMe SSD I know, that it is not possible to run with ULTRA settings, but will it work with middle and some high settings? Has anyone experiences with nearly the same specs? My first VR glasses have been the Rift S which I sold because of the bad resolution. Thank you for your comments which will…

Hello All. I am a B787 pilot on furlough due to the covid thing. I always felt that PC flight simulation is too different from a full motion simulator to be used as an effective training device. But then i saw this video on youtube of a VR recording of the Qualitywings 787. It looked very realistic. To make it work, I would need two synchronized VR devices, with doubled input controls (2 mouse pointers??). So one for the captain and one for the FO. And a way for a third guy in the background, the 'instructor,' to set failures and generally control the scenario. Is that technically possible? What kind of hardware would we looking at? Thanks.

  12. Till now I fly without EA. I had bad experiance with enhanced atmospheric = on in VR. Worse FPS (a lot), too dark shadows, clouds problem with Active Sky (for example METAR shows overcast and I saw clear sky). Today I turned on to test and.... I started to like it (with Envshade)! Looks really nice and FPS are really OK for VR. Any tips for EA settings for VR and Active Sky P3D? I remember it was a problem with layers (of clouds). Is it present still?

As you know (perhaps), now Reshade starts to support VR. https://github.com/fholger/reshade/releases/tag/openvr_alpha2 Did you test it in P3Dv5? I see really big improve in DCS (I installed it via JSGME). Didnt test it yet in P3Dv5.

Hi, New to v5 from v4.5 and I have trouble getting the same kind of performance in VR in v5 as I had in v4.5 which was very smooth even with my ageing 1070. Any performance tips anyone has would be appreciated. I have done some testing but have not managed to find anything that significantly improves performance. FPS in P3D itself is, if anything, slightly higher in v5 than in v4.5, yet it is not smooth at all in VR. System: 6700k @4.5hz GTX 1070 Rift S P3D settings are relatively modest. Medium LOD, Tesselation, mesh, textures, normal autogen, all shadow casting (except internal) and reflections off It seems v5 doesn't like Oculus. It's stutteri…

  18. Monthly-connected VR Headsets on Steam Each month Valve collects info from Steam users to determine some baseline statistics about what kind of hardware and software is used by the platform’s population, and to see how things are changing over time, including the use of VR headsets. The data shared in the survey represents the number of headsets connected to Steam over a given month, so we call the resulting figure ‘monthly-connected headsets’ for clarity; it’s the closest official figure there is to ‘monthly active VR users’ on Steam, with the caveat that it only tells us how many VR headsets were connected, not how many were actually used. While V…

  20. When flying in P3D 5.1 with my HP Reverb G2 in VR I encounter this (all in Orbx scenery), After starting my flight from airport 3W5 and going heading about 270 after a while this occasionally happens. The display momentarily freezes or shakes or severe stutter and also the P3D display can shortly disappear and I instead see the default VR landscape. I have noticed that in the Steam VR Status the performance graphs usually show an orange band which partly goes red in turns. But when the shaking issue starts the band disappear. Changing settings makes little difference apart from perhaps a slight mitigation. It seem to at some degree depend on where I fly. A flight more…

  21. Hello all; Today I decided to fly some VR for my birthday. Everything is up and running and I'm getting abysmal, but I knew what I was getting into. After several minutes, I turn down every setting to minimum and then slowly up the sliders. Really long story short, I'm getting bad performance (~14 FPS) on P3D and my hardware monitor shows the computer isn't doing much at all (45% memory usage and 12% CPU utilization and Flightbeam KSFOHD. As I'm checking the settings in SteamVR (I have a Reverb 1) I notice P3D, as a background process with VR on, is over 60 FPS. Without bringing P3D back as the main main window, I start taxiing around and the performance is fa…

  22. Started by Nigel,

I have purchased the Oculus Quest 2 and have found some problems that I hope some-one may be able to offer advice. Firstly, in X-Plane 11 (not the Steam version) but standalone and updated to the latest version, I have found that the view from the cockpit looking at the scenery is not at all good, fuzzy is the best way I can describe it. Performance is around 25-35fps though have yet to try it in the London area. Before going into X-Plane I click on the Oculus Link and just wonder whether I should bypass that as when I try to calibrate the hand controllers on a certain aircraft X-Plane freezes and I have to come out of VR and exit the sim. I do get a warni…

Hi all, I am new to the VR scene and am struggling to get the Quest 2 working with P3d. I managed to get MSFS 2020 working quite well, with settings adjusted for a fairly smooth experience. As for 5.1, I start it up as a normal flight, then switch the VR using the menu bar. Select P3d in the headset. However, at this point, the screen just goes blank (black) on both the headset and monitor. Ive tried looking for solutions but cannot find anything. Would anyone be able to offer some help? My system CPU I9-10900k (no O/C) GPU RTX3090 RAM 32gb Everything is update date in terms of drivers and saoftware and what not. Thank you

hey guys, Is there a way to reduce the head movement sensitivity? It is super jerky when doing very small movement (feels like I am hitting turbulence), I dont have this problem with other sims, only P3DV5. I searched around but cant find anything significant. I have VSYNC turned OFF, and I tried either 30FPS or Unlimited but it has no effect at all. Thank you in advance! J.
