It is possible to use hand tracking in MSFS2020, but I don't get it working. I use an Oculus Quest 2 and SteamVR. In the Quest2 hand tracking works fine, but in the moment SteamVR is started, hand tracking doesn't work anymore. Also when MSFS is started, hand tracking is not working. Has somebody a solution? Thanks

OK, you can see what hardware I have as my system in my signature. Some additional info: I use Virtual Desktop now rather than AirLink. I was never able to get clarity in the cockpit and stop stuttering on the ground with AirLink. Here is the issue I opened this thread for: I can get clarity in the cockpit by setting SteamVR settings and in-sim settings, but once I have clarity in the cockpit, I start to have overall latency numbers in the 70's and 80's. If I start lowering settings to bring down the overall latency, I start losing all the clarity I just got. The high latency I am getting is all from the sim. In other words, when I look at the SteamVR performanc…

Title says it. I finally have a decent cockpit image in which I can read most things, but the ground image keeps jerking, not violently but enough to ruin the experience. What settings, if any, will help that without totally blowing my cockpit image? Thanks

  5. All, I'm wondering does the video card make all the difference with the HP Reverb G2. I've been looking at an alternative to what I have although mine looks to be pretty good when looking at what's recommended.

Progress is so fast, our knowledge and abilities are expanding so quickly, that it's easy sometimes to become a bit blase, maybe even a bit Jaded by at all. Oh! VR. It's a thing for children, it's a fad. But then... perhaps we see the reactions of people for whom this is not all a given; to whom this has not all become passe and commonplace yet. Just maybe... we are reminded for a few seconds before we move on, that we are living in a time of Wonders....

My Varjo Aero is due to be delivered tomorrow (I'm in the UK). I notice from the Fedex tracking information, it is coming from China, via Hong Kong, so I'm a bit worried I'll have to pay some hefty import duty tax? Anyone other UK purchaser's had one delivered yet, and know the import tax situation? Thanks Eugene

Hello, I need help. I have a reverb 2 with rtx3090. I when I switch from regular screen to vr the screen is stuttering badly. I Uninstaller the game and also reset it but still the same. I played before and everything was OK, but a week ago it started. Is there a way to post a video to show what I mean? Best regards, Gur

Does anyone here who owns a Reverb G2 also buy some mod accessories to further enhance comfort and, presumably, enlarge the oft-repeated sweet spot issue? I've been reading here and there that the sweet spot issue is actually more attributed to the placement of the HMD on one's head. I've been debating on possibly taking the plunge and buying either the counterweight/strap kid seen here: https://www.studioformcreative.com/product-page/reverb-g2-pro-balance-enthusiast-kit-200-gram-7-oz or the modded gasket here: https://3dwardprinting.com/ I suppose I could buy both and get the "best of both worlds," but that just seems overkill. I'll know more once I start actually u…

  12. Started by markturner,

Hi, just started using my VP2 with MSFS and having trouble getting performance at an acceptable rate. My PC is an AMD 5900x 12 core, 64GB ram and an RTX 3090, so no shortage of horsepower. However, despite pretty conservative settings, I am getting around 14 FPS and frame times in the 60's for the GPU and the 40's for the CPU. With all the latest updates etc, and 2020 supposedly VR friendly, I was hoping for better. The same set up runs DCS in VR at around 45 FPS and 20ms frame times, with pretty high settings. So I am a bit stumped as to why performance is so low..... Anyone here got a similar spec PC and using a VP2 who might advise? Thanks

Got this email last week - not sure how Varjo know I bought a G2? Varjo (I think) do very high end VR headsets but at very high end prices - plus an annual subscription. Hoping they're looking at something more suited to the Flight Sim/Gamer market, at a more affordable price - curious to see what the launch comes up with. The email: "As someone who has purchased the HP Reverb G2 and has a keen interest in VR, we’re excited to let you know about an announcement coming 21st October from the world leading VR/XR manufacture, Varjo technologies. Join Varjo for a special launch event, broadcast live from Varjo's headquarters in Helsinki, Finland. Hear from …

  14. Hello, I recently set up a new rig (11900k, Gigabyte RTX 3080, 32MG DRAM) and installed Prepar3d 5.3 and my Oculus Rift VR. Every time I disable (exit) VR (from within P3D menu) it crashes with DXGI_DEVICE_HUNG. Every single time. I'm not overclocked, no Enh Atmos, No HDR. Still crashes. I also tried it with the Quest 2 headset via Link cable (which works fine otherwise), same result. Crash when exiting VR. I am monitoring the state of the GPU (a not cheap RTX 3080 card) with task manager performance tab, and I see a huge spike in GPU usage when the exit VR command is given. this is always with a PMDG bird of some type, so far either 737NGXu or…

Hi All, I have looked everywhere without success to try to find a clear explanation of what tomato shader is? There is a million explanations as to how to install it on P3D but given that I fly in VR only and am not that interested in taking a massive performance hit for an eye candy tweak, I would like to know more about it and whether it may be worth having a look at. Does anyone have a good layperson's explanation. FWIW, I am referring to FS Labs A320 with P3D V5.3 with a high end rig in VR.

Got a new Reverb G2 but pressing CTRL + TAB don't turn on VR. Can't find out what's wrong . Any one here know? OpenXR Runtime is installed and working. Mixed Reality boots up with the headset on, It all works in the headset and I can run the programs in the house. but when I boot up MSFS it will not go into VR pressing CTRL + TAB. I just cannot find out why MSFS CTRL + TAB does not work. Any Suggestion welcome.

  20. okay the concept is simple: you have a home cockpit - basic plywood frame cut to the dimensions of the aircraft, hardware knobs, buttons, and switches, properly located controls (yoke, throttles, etc) - but there are no gauges or displays or monitors for external views because you have your VR headset. The headset is tracking your hands and showing their positions. So you just reach out and grab the controls and manipulate them - in real life. As with a normal home cockpit, the controls are linked to the computer to send commands to the sim. This would be a relatively cheap solution in general and also for being able to build multiple cockpits as many of the hardware coul…

  21. I'm thinking about getting into some VR with FS2020, but my major reason for not doing it is that I really enjoy the tactile feedback of my control peripherals. Is there a way on a Quest 2 to set it so that if you look down enough it will show through to see the equipment? I also wonder how people deal with things like needing to read landing plates, STARS and even your own notes from VATSIM controllers, etc. Thanks!

  22. Started by Overload,

Varjo have launched a new VR headset the Aero, aimed at the sim/game market. Previously the XR-3 was €5500 plus tax and an annual sub of €1500, the Aero which uses the same optics is €2000 plus tax, no subscription. Yes, still very expensive - but within the reach of the die hard simmer or someone who might have invested that sort of money on a cockpit installation. VR flight sim guy, and the guy from MRTV both Youtubers I respect when it comes to VR, are gushing with superlatives. The comparison pics compared with a G2 are very impressive. The Head of Flight Simulation at Microsoft said this: I look forward to seeing the reviews! Eugen…

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my i7700 OC'd to 4.8GHz to something newer. I also use a 2080ti all in one cooler with 32G of ram and a Reverb Gen1 with the following platforms: DCS (Currently single core usage) MSFS and P3D 5.2. With that in mind, could someone with some understanding of the upcoming Alder Lake technology please give me some insight into whether this CPU may be a good performance boost. I am obviously going to need a new MOBO to carry a new CPU, truth be known I am more interested in performance than price. Here's an article to give some context to someone that can understand what the hell they're talking about, it's all Greek to m…

Considering the Oculus branded head straps (infamous) tendency to randomly self destruct no matter how hard you try to be gentle with it, this sturdy replacement is very nice and surprisingly well-engineered, as well as being very comfortable. It also comes with a cover for the main part of the headset Honorable mention, and worth a look if you are thinking of a new strap. 25. I've had the Reverb G1 for over a year and it's always worked fine. But after a long gap since using it last it isn't working properly. As I've always done, my startup sequence is: PC on (running Windows 10); WMR on; Steam VR on; P3D V4 on and running normally; select P3D's Virtual Reality tab and then click on Steam VR; put on the Reverb G1 HMD; select P3D's Virtual Reality tab then click on Recalibrate Origin. Several months ago when I last did all this everything then worked perfectly. Now the view on the HMD is always straight forward whenever I look from left to right or right to left. The view begins to move as required but after a second or two flicks bac…
