I am new to the VR world so if anyone here would be kind to explain how to set up the Pimax Vision 8K X with the MSFS 2020 would be most appreciated. My first question is, do I need base stations or just the glasses will work? I have the DP plugged into DP on the RTX 3090 Hybrid FTW3 but the only thing I see is a out of space landscape, I have tried to press the Cntrl + TAB in MSFS 2020 but nothing happens. I have install the pitool and it detect just fine but windows doesn't see any other displays except the USB display I use to see the desktop. Any suggestion? thanks

Hi, I'm on P3D 5.1 HF1 - I have issues when in single-pass rendering in VR that dynamic lights, especially ones near the front panel are messed up. They seem to move with my head movements. This is the same with PMDG default lights and FSLabs spotlights - it also does it in the A320 - I haven't tried other aircraft. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm using Steam VR with a Valve Index. Thanks, James

This is my first time firing up p3d v5 with my new g2, it looks decent and is much more comfortable compared to my old samsung odyssey but I might be selling or returning it if I cant do something about the night brightness. When it gets dark in the sim the headset is unable to reduce the brightness of the screens enough to match the sim so it looks like there is a grey fog in the cockpit because the lcd backlights are so bright. Is there a setting or something to adjust this out? Surely this headset would not have gotten such praise with the contrast and black levels being this awful. Edit: just tried v4.5 and same thing 😞

  7. There’s a huge issue with VR in today’s flight sims that barely gets a mention, and caused me to waste AU$1200 on a Reverb. Asynchronous Reprojection (hereafter referred to as AR), also known as synchronous timewarp, asynchronous spacewarp and SteamVR Motion Smoothing, is a technology used to “mimic” extra frames when the user’s computer can not match the refresh rate of the headset. Many VR users refer to the issues caused by it as ghosting, judder, stuttering, or smoothness. I’m sure there are some other names I’m not familiar with, but the vague way in which it is described, not to mention the huge variety of “fixes” to deal with it, are part of the reason I’m writing …

  8. I'm a long time Rift CV1 user in XP11 and P3D. Today my new Reverb G2 arrived, which is my first WMR headset, the first time I've had controllers (only ever flown with HOTAS) and only my second headset ever. I've become very used to (entrenched?!) using the Oculus app etc with the CV1, to the point this new WMR seems to be confusing me and I could do with some help please! I have completely unplugged my CV1 (inc. tracker). I've updated both sims to their latest versions (inc. Beta in the case of XP11). I have installed the "Mixed Reality App" in Windows, as well as "Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR". I have updated SteamVR (had it before, just never used it). My first q…

In P3dv5 I found a trick to improve stability and increase fps. WMR tends to favor its web browser in virtual desktop by stacking multiple virtual monitors even though you only want to fly inside your aero plane...Look at your display settings once VR setup for P3D (or other sim) and you will see 4 or more monitors even though you only have one or two This was causing jerky visual indecisions inside VR and other hindrances I think So I read somewhere to do this: Registry Editor CAUTION (you should already know how to get in this, if not google it learn it) edit : HKeyCurrent_User\Software\Microsoft\Windows\currentVersion\Holographic\Preal…

Received the G2 today but couldn't figure out why SteamVR wasn't working (headset not detected). Fix was simple: along with installing SteamVR, must also install "windows mixed reality for steamVR". Coming from Rift cv1, the G2 display is great, P3Dv4/5/DCS colors are accurate and no screen door effect. Can read gauges nice'n clear as long as in the sweet spot.

Just upgraded from my Rift S to the G2 and I now really need some way of displaying my Navigraph charts inside the headset. My Rift S had the nose piece removed so I could peer under the headset at the monitor (although this was a bit of an immersion killer). The G2 doesn't allow you to remove the nose piece (unless you tear it off the adhesive permanently) plus I would like to keep the immersion. My maddog has a lovely built in EFB which displays the charts, but my PMDG DC-6 and all my A2A GA stuff doesn't. I would kill for a addon EFB which could be used in all aircraft. Does anyone have any suggestions about how to view charts in P3D v4.5 with a G2?

  12. Started by Ident,

I got my G2 a few days before Thanksgiving and then was away for the weekend. I've owned the Oculus CV1, Rift S and now the G2. I understand there are some hand controller issues in XPlane11 but I dont use the hand controllers in simming so that's a non-issue for me. Screen door effect, gone. That has been my #1 item since the CV1. The sweet spot is interesting as its perfect clarity when looking forward but when you start to move your eyes outside of the sweet spot it gets blurry. Something I hadnt really noticed in my prior VRs. No biggie, just move your head more instead of rolling your eyes. Am I happy....very much yes! This is exactly what I've been wanting since my …

Hi, I got my G2 today. i found setup much more difficult than my previous headsets. I'm into P3D via WMR for Steam and have no sound at all. I haven't see anyone else with this complaint, so it may be my fault. The headphones do work in the Mixed Reality Portal. I'd really appreciate if someone could advise. Regards, Jim

Need some knowledge on VR and less than perfect vision from the experts. So I wear progressive lens glasses, being near sighted, so I can see distance out of the upper half of the lens and gradually down to close in at the lower part of the lens. I’m wondering what “distance” the VR lenses focus at, being that the actual screens are only a few inches in front of your eyes. Would we need to be able to see clearly at just a few inches, or would our eyes be focused farther out? I’m not very clear on how our vision works with a headset and screens so physically close to our eyes. I don’t know anyone with a VR rig, and I’m trying to figure out if I’ll have a vision issue befor…

  16. Even though WMR has been all along getting many improvements, according to this thread, WMR is most likely doing large improvements to its motion reprojection and bringing 30fps reprojection. I was wondering how MS was going to pull off VR for the heavy flight sim. Odds are other headsets will need to modify their options before they can run the sim? This might explain the WMR VR exclusivity. https://old.reddit.com/r/WindowsMR/comments/jrafia/beta_feature_reprojection_from_30_fps_according/

  17. Hi Everyone, I am thinking of building a home simulator for my 75 year old dad. He flew recreationally for most of his life but ended up surrendering his medical. Recently he’s been going to a local airport to fly a sim because he likes the mental challenge. Unfortunately next week he starts on a more aggressive cancer treatment, putting him at much higher risk than he already is for COVID... so his days of going to the airport to fly the sim are over for the time being. Which brings me to the title: If I were to build a sim from scratch, where would I begin? I know Microsoft and Xplane are a couple of options, others? Pros/cons? He can still work hi…

I have 2 questions about doing flight sim in P3D. Right now I'm using a barrowed Oculus Quest II (my son is awesome to his dad) so that I can test it out. I'm loving it and will be picking up my own VR headset. Anyway, my questions are: 1. Is it worth picking up a plugin such as FlyInside? I really have no clue about what the various plugins are for; which is my fault for not researching them. So far the flights I've made have been with GA directly in P3Dv4 and have been fine. I want to get back into my tubeliners though. 2. I like my own checklists. I have tried to look up a couple of overlays so that I can get them directly into the sim. Not having any luck th…

  20. I'm gonna get a VR headset for the new Simulator, cause it just seems like it'd be quite an experience. Do you feel like you have more control in VR? It seems like you'd be able to land better when you have that sense of depth, and feeling how close you are to the ground. Do you use one hand on the flight Joystick, and then one hand on the VR controller to turn knobs and stuff? I'm a bit confused, can u set down that VR controller to use a throttle or something?

Anyone know if there are any Virtual Hands with X-Plane 11.5x? X-Plane used to support virtual hands a few versions ago.

  23. Hi there, My name is Michael Nysus and I have a walk in, scratch built, Captain’s side flight deck. It includes a real life captain’s 737 Yoke. I have always thought that the P3D WORLD SCALE was way too small and after a long search I found the way to fix it. I did not come up with this myself. I spent a lot of time adjusting the value to match up the real yoke against the pmdg yoke in p3d v4 though. This is the Key. Go to C:/users/your name/appdata/roaming/lockheed martin/cameras.cfg. Back up the file. Add the following at the bottom in sequence. ( ie CameraDefinition. 0xx ) [CameraDefinition.022] Title = VR Virtual Cockpit // oculus rift…

Not gonna lie, if there is any game out there that has the potential to entice one into their headset for ungodly periods of time, its Skyrim. Yeah, its an old game, but with copious (and unending) love from untold numbers of dedicated modders, so many additions have been created for the games graphics, adventures, and just about everything else, that with even just a modicum of effort the game can become worthy, even years after release, of standing tall with and just about any other adventure game out there. And in Vr, it's can be pretty much like entering the matrix. I'm creating this thread to help others who might be interested in giving this a try. I'…
