Has anybody found an ejdot proof way of updating the Carenado products from the Navigraph FMS - I just get 'expired 2010' or something equally useless on the screens ?

Noob question: Is there a compelling reason to use Active Sky’s flight planning utility (I bought AS for the weather engine… not a flight planner)? We have many flight planning apps available (P3D, Lilnavmap, Sim Brief, PFPX, etc); why would I use the AS flight planning utility instead? Thanks. Scott

  3. Going to fly the msfs2020 Aerosoft CRJ700. I create a flight plan in Navigraph. I export the plan to MSFS2020. When I start MSFS2020, I select and load flight plan (Which is in the list), but it does not get loaded in the CDU. I select flight plan on the CDU, blank fields, I select legs, blank fields. So msfs2020 doesn't seem to be loading the flight plan into the cdu. Any ideas why this is happening? Thanks Walt

So I started using little navmap, however, I noticed a downside to it. It doesn’t generate a “real” flight plan. I saw someone say that they use the route provided from LNM and import it into simbrief to get their ofp. Do I need the latest nav data cycle to do this? If I don’t, can anyone tell me exactly how to get the ofp, I’m still not 100% sure I fully understood how to do it.

  5. Hi everybody, I saw that many people (including myself) have had issue finding free weather source to add to pfpx, for the ones that still work. I didn't find a solution so far and planning to create a simple script that could retrieve free data and compile in a way that would be easily importable in PFPX. The only issue I have is I don't know the format of the files that are supported for weather (not having any of the softwares)... Would anyone be willing to share a sample of each file format so I can see their structure ? I'm talking about : Active Sky : wx_station_list.txt and current_wx_snapshot.txt Rex : metar_report.txt (the olde…

  6. Hello. We are creating a unified flight planning and monitoring program to be used alongside MSFS as part of a University project. Would you be interested in filling in a short survey to help us determine which features should be included in such an app? All the questions are multiple choice, so they should not take too long. Thank you.https://forms.gle/gjUhepxQkV3xM7tHAWe apologise for having to post this again, however we had to make some changes to the survey and now it is not getting any traffic.

  7. is it possible to change the colour of your own aircraft in the map and make it more visible (bright red or black instead of yellow). In alternative, changing the track from black dotted line to continuous coloured ? I have litlle Navmap on a second monitor and when I look at it to check my plane position, I find difficult to see it at a glance

Is it permissible to join a STAR at a waypoint other than the "beginning" waypoints? For example, I would like to use the HAARP3 arrival for KLGA but don't necessarily want to join at the Albany or Rockdale "starting" waypoints; as they are out of the way of a more direct flight path. Instead I would like to join at BAYSE which is in the "inside" or "middle" of the STAR with respect to Albany and/or Rockdale. If this is okay how does one indicate intentions in the filed flight plan with VATSIM? Thanks in advance for your interest and replies.

I love Navigraph for updating the Air Cycles, however for the last 3-4 years I have been paying the annual fee the download and install process never goes well for me. I have tried the Navigraph FMS Data Manager and the manual download and always have problems with both. I dread every 28 days of having to spend hours using a system I pay for. Yes I have gone on youtube but all I find are videos that are 3-5 years old.....not up to date. I have contacted Navigraph and they do respond but not in any great detail. Is there any other providers of current FMS and or Charts other than Navigraph? I don't have a problem paying for any worthwhile service but Navigraph is not an…

  11. Hi all, I have an ocean crossing question. I wanted to prepare a flight to Seattle from Schiphol. Looking at the real flights, they fly high (north), over Greenland and over. However, Simbrief sends me lower, over the normal NAT's. is this all due to wind etc? Or is it a shortcoming of simbrief? cheers Victor

Hi guys, I am currently planning my flights with onlineflightplanner.org. I can use the option "Use SIDs" and "Use STARS" there. This tool uses RouteFinder and RouteFinder describes, that the two respective endpoints of the route are points where SIDs end and STARs should begin. Is that correct so far? What is the further procedure then? I would now choose the runways according to the wind direction and use the FMS to select a matching SID and STAR. Can I normally find suitable SIDs and STARs in the database? How would you do this? greetings, Chris

  13. I'm new to the site and hope that this is the appropriate section of the forum for this question about engaging the FLCH SPD mode via the Boeing 747-400 MCP. I apologise in advance if it isn't. Let's assume the following: 1) I've leveled off at an FMC constraint altitude of 4000 ft with VNAV PTH and SPD pitch and A/T modes. 2) There are two other FMC constraints at 9000 ft and 15000 ft. 3) ATC has cleared me to FL240. If I dial 24000 in the Altitude window and hit the FL CH button, will it override all altitude constraints or do I have to first delete them one by one with Altitude selector knob pushes? if the constraints are not overrid…

Hello All, I have been using Simbrief for a while - no problems. Simbrief has always automatically downloaded Plans into my Aerosoft A320 FMS as a co-route. In my set up the A320 looks for Plans in c:users/username/OneDrive/Documents/Aerosoft/Airbus/FlightPlans. I dont know where this 'address' originates from but it has always worked ! FSX is running on a separate hard drive. I am unsure how 'OneDrive' fits in. Now I am finding the Plans are going into 'downloads' just like any other downloaded files ! Sure I can copy the plan across to where they used to go, I seem to remember Simbrief should download FPs as a .pln BUT it is now downloading as …

Hi All, SO, lockdown again, thought I'll visit some new airports with MSFS. Got navigraph (wow!) and wanted to do a short hop to Moscow from Schiphol. Simbrief gives me this route: EHAM/24 AND2SY ANDIK N873 GRONY DCT EEL DCT WSN DCT HAM DCT MEGAR DCT SONAL DCT BALOX DCT ETRUS DCT PENOR DCT BALIT DCT PLG DCT SUBOR DCT BERIL DCT TUSAS DCT ALMIK M864 DIPOP DIPO3F UUEE/06R Only directs. Why is this? I mean, I'm sure there are airways in between, right? Yesterday, it did the same to grand canaries. Any tips? Cheers Vic

  17. I'm trying to fly the ILS approach procedure for EGPE Inverness (runway 23) arriving from the North. The IAF is a VOR and then there is an outbound segment with a 45/180 procedure turn to intercept the ILS. My problem is that I don't know the correct way to turn onto the outbound leg from the VOR because it's a very sharp turn! Do I turn in advance of reaching the VOR or is there a procedure I need to do after I reach the VOR? Thanks!

At fields with parallel runways of identical or similar length, is there a convention for departures and arrivals? In other words, do departures typically use the runway closest to the terminal buildings, or is it the other way 'round? Or does it vary by individual field layout, or by inbound/outbound traffic, or navaids, etc?

Kos LGKO: I'm guessing forget the RNP approach unless you have some airplane that depicts the equipment; not any that I own. I spent the better part of a day trying to figure out that one, having never heard of any of this before, let alone EGNOS. (I learned a lot, though.) I suppose you could fudge it, but otherwise that would leave the VOR DME 32 approach, which is more familiar, but still puzzling. Why come in on the 317 radial when the runway is 323? A non-precision approach in a A318 didn't go as expected since the birdie wasn't providing much in the way of useful advice. That's when I said, "I'm gonna fly ya like a Boeing and yer gonna like it." I guess that's what …

I see many transatlantic flights that don't follow the NAT tracks, especially flights arriving or departing from the US west coast from and to Europe. How would I go about and determine a custom route like that, one that goes over north Greenland, even into the polar regions? Is there a standard procedure for determining that type of a route, e.g. waypoints being apart by a certain amount of degrees or does it all come down to the wind component and distance?

Hi all. In the spirit of Christmas I figured I’d ask the members here who are pilots and ones who believe in Saint Nick; in your opinion, on Christmas Eve what speed/Mach, and altitude do you think Santa Claus flies at to get to over 6 billion houses in just 24 hours? I myself have wondered this myself every Christmas since I started my flight training. And it’s mystified me a lot. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi, struggling to work out how the G3X in the Xcub captures the glideslope on a ILS approach. It locks on to the localiser OK but I can't figure out how to complete the descent using the glideslope. I can see the the glideslope descending to my altitude but it just keeps dropping. Is there a way to captureit?
