Hi there, I am new to the whole FMC programming. I attempted a flight from OTHH to OMDB, I correctly flied the flighplan going by SimBrief (through projectFLY) - Took off from 16L and landed 30L. However, all the AI were landing on 12L. Now, the weather I had on Activesky was winds from 130 degrees at 06 knots. This making the AI correct. So, does simbrief use real world weather? If it does, how can I ensure I am using the correct approaches/runways in the future.

Does anyone know if there is an android/pc/online app that performs this same function? Looks to be a pretty decent app and I like the fact of being able to keep everything in one place https://pilotassistpro.com/ Some features of the app: Personalized & Customized Checklists/Up-to-the-minute Weather and NOTAMs/Flight Logging/Mobile Charts & Documents/ScratchPad/Frequencies & References/Live sync with Dropbox

Came across this looking for something else but thought they are very neat … maybe its already out there in the forums but I didn't recall seeing them and in doing a search on the threads http://allanville.com/aviation_charts/ (navigation charts and flight planning) http://aviation.allanville.com/ (the above but main site with links to vatsim, payload planner, edok into, keyboard commands and other cool stuff)

Hi there, Takeoff obstacles is an important implication on performance capability. For years, flight sim community in general was V-speeds centric so to speak, will little attention paid to obstacles. Consequently, we have a lot of tools that determine other takeoff parameters but completely ignore assessment of takeoff flight path. So I would like to ask you how do you approach this problem on your routine flights what are the techniques you use, specifically how do you determine the appropriate obstacles (1) and how you assess your aircraft's performance in this regard (e.g. limiting takeoff weight) (2). Question includes both all engines operation and …

Hi guys! How do I calculate Radial a Fix is on? I am planning a flight from KRDD Redding, to KSTS. This is the plan: KRDD HOMAN2 RBL V25 GETER V494 KSTS HOMAN2 SID guides me till RBL VOR. It says that I have to fly R357 on the RED BLUFF VOR. There is where the SID finishes. Then I have to follow Victor-25 to the 'GRENY' Fix. So, from Red Bluff VOR to GRENY fix I have no clue what radial V25 is on, and I don't know how to see it. Using SimBrief, there is no info about radials. Any help here? Would other tools like PFPX, help me with this? Thank you for your time! Lets make the question more generic and see if it helps. How do i calculate the radial …

Hi all ! I am having trouble learning rnav approaches, i end up aligned really well on the gs but for some reason I fall short of the runway? I suspect I might be reading my minimums wrong? I am flying into NZCI using rnav 05. If it helps, I am using the DA62 and G1000, I leave the default 1.7 degrees on the vnav, and am unfamiliar with the remainer of the settings, this is a lil frustrating as i have good speed and every thing is looking like perfection :s Any advice appreciated. edit: I set barometric minimums instead of gps and that worked? unless i just had a more stable descent, something I will investigate 🙂

  11. Hello, I searched the forum for some recommendations and I've taken note, but a lot of people seem to want something for flying airliners. While I'd like to do that someday I'm mainly interested in something geared more for general aviation. I recently purchased the Flight1 Beech King Air B200 and would like to fly that for a while. I'm interested in flying from KPAE in Washington to places in California or Arizona or Colorado, places that I'd actually want to fly to when I win the lottery and actually can afford a King Air. So if you have a favorite, preferably free, but not a total requirement, and maybe a good weather app that works well with it, I'd love to…

Is there any way to make a route using FR24 I can input into simroutes, or FsBuilder, or sky vector efficiently? http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/117132-route-analysis-with-fr24-and-skyvector/ I found this but it takes a lot of effort (without excel) and requires payment. If there is absolutely no way to do this, please just post it isn't possible.

  13. HI all After a few brakes (4 months). I wanna get back into the simming again, and one thing is: do that what I never did (fly RNAV for example into LOWI, because well ORBX!) I'm looking at the charts and Little Nav map, trying to figure out which to choose. Say, I fly from LOWW to LOWI, via LOWW (an OSPEN start, no problems here!)OSPEN NANIT (I guess?:NANI1A) LOWI I end at RTT, but then what? There are two RNAV for both 08 and 26. Wind is calm and variable, so I guess 26 would make most sense seeing as I come from the East? The only big difference I see in the RNAVs are that the missed approach of Z goes further West, and the E doesn't have one …

  14. Hi guys, I'm testing some flightplanning with PFPX for Majestic Dash 8 Q400. The problem begin when I want to send data to TOPCAT, there is no template at all. Any idea on how to work around this issue or have you got a TOPCAT template for this great aircraft? Without TOPCAT I have to use manual tables to calculate V speeds. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been looking for Checklist software for my iPAD, there are several but I'm seeking opinions. Some features important to me: 1. Easy to create and build new aircraft templates 2. Any provided pre-defined templates are accurate and detailed (and should be editable) 3. Displays well on an iPAD with easy to read font(s) (not small/tiny fonts) 4. Night mode display I'm currently favoring this product (seems to have just about every checklist for any aircraft with a few exceptions): ForeFlight Checklist Pro for iPhone and features but all opinions welcome. Cheers, Rob.

I am looking for flight plans where I can find e.g ASA plane's equipment codes (M-SDRW...etc), PBN, NAV codes for my PFPX template. I prefer to do realistic flights in FS. Any helps will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Good Morning Gents. I recently notice flightaware is now not showing any routing info for Air Canada flights until after the departure time. Upto to a few months ago you could get a route string from a filed flightplan in the USA and Canada and flight leaving the USA to Asia or Europe you could get the partial route upto leaving the USA or Canadian FIR. Anyone noticed this ?? Cheers

  19. What is more realistic and more common in real world aviation. Trying to decide which planner + ATC package to use. 1) Fly most of the STAR and get vectors to ILS near the airport or 2) Fly STAR procedure by the book and approach transition right to the ILS without any vectors? Which of these phraseology on approach is more realistic. 1) Cleared the ILS approach runway XX, report established. 2) Closing localizer from the left/right, report established... descend on the glidepath. Lastly, how common is it not to assign an initial altitude when getting clearance for a SID? So, Shamrock 222 cleared the Brookmans Park…

Attached link is to the charlotte STOCR1 STAR. My question is, on the SAV transition it shows FL190-FL180, but the CRVET shows a restriction of FL240-FL290, so why does it even have FL190-FL180? in my head that's coming from the cruising altitude to something lower then the restriction then back up to make the min restriction...is the FL190-FL180 there for another purpose? Also, on there is shows *1700 and *1600 on the SAV transition, what do these mean? Thanks for the input in advance! http://flightaware.com/resources/airport/CLT/STAR/STOCR+ONE+(RNAV)/pdf

1.) Pick a realistic GA Aircraft (Single Pilot Cert. Only) that can carry you and your family/friends to all the away games of your favorite team. 2.) Plan to arrive at least three hours before game time. 3.) Use only the plane you picked for first flight for all flights. 4.) Use real weather. Use real time (no slewing). Flight can be flown after the game with historic weather. 5.) IFR or VFR. If VFR, stick to all the VFR limits, including restricted air space rules, MOA's, etc. 6.) Post Pics and flight plan in the gallery after the flight. 7.) Airport should be as close to the stadium as possible. 8.) Return flight next day or after game. My first flight will …

  22. Hi all This is a question I can't really seem to find the answer to: please look at the picture below. I would like to take off runway 05 and go to the star at 228°, 13nm. Circuit is left-handed. How would I depart the traffic pattern? Would I fly almost the entire TP and exit at base? Or climb straight ahead and turn right? In this specific case there could be approaching aircraft (ILS approach) into the airport and I would need to cross their path. I know that in this case, the ATC would tell me what to do since it is a controlled airport. However, the p3d ATC is not that clever. Therefore I am not sure how in real-life I would get from runway 05 to the sta…

All, I've learned to heavily rely on AirNav & Skyvector for all my US planning. But I'm interested in joining a European based VA and I'm not finding a similar online resource. I pay for monthly Navigraph updates but do not currently pay for their charts service. What would be the best approach here? Free is always preferred but I have no problem paying for charts from a reliable source. Jepp is out of budget, though. Thanks!

If you have ORBX SAK, the "Glacier Bay Tours", free from RTMM, can be a lot of fun. There are 38 glaciers involved in this package. Each has a GPS way point and a little scenery location. Usually we have flight plans at Return to Misty Moorings, but we thought you might enjoy something different. You pick a glacier, put the way point into your GPS (instructions included in documentation), then fly from the suggested airport to the glaicer. And using this method, you can fly from Glacier to Glacier. There are two files to download and install, see documentation. The package is on the RTMM Scenery Page under "G". The scenery is spectacular, add a little weather and som…
