Does P3D 3.0 have updated magnetic variations or are we still stuck with 1993 (FS2004) data? Its a shame if LM didn't take the effort to update as these variations are critical and can determine if your ILS is a aligned among other runway updates. Do we still need to update magnetic variations with the data compiled by Herve Sors? http://www.aero.sors.fr

With Prepar3D v3 from Lockheed-Martin being released today, I think it might be time to point out a few conditions of 'compatibility' that need to be revealed to the simming public: 1 - If a given addon installs anywhere inside the core Prepar3D folder structure, it's not compatible. 2 - If you need to use something like the Estonia Migration Tool to install, it's not compatible. Believe it or not, if you ensure the addons you install to v3 are compatible... it will prevent you from having to reinstall addons when L-M releases point release updates to v3. So, talk to your addon providers and encourage them to adhere to the v3 addon installation process co…

Hi, I'm wondering what the current wisdom is regarding Prepar3D V3.0 and Aero in Windows7? Back in November 2013 Beau posted the following: "Enable Aero in Windows 7: VSync will only work in win7 if Aero is enabled. Enabling Aero should improve performance of the menus as well and may improve performance in general. Generally speaking, if you have a GPU powerful enough to run v2, your system will run smoother with Aero on anyway thanks to hardware accelerated window composition. I ask this because this time around, following my new build, I decided to use a desktop basic theme with a nice image rather than an Aero theme. I have a GSYNC capable monitor so have…

See topic title. There only is a full installer for 2.5. Do I have to install that one anyway and then update it...? What if the installer asks for the v2.5 folder which I don't have...?

Hey guys, So, this morning I've been installing a second 680 gtx in my machine to give it a bit of a boost. (The cost of the 980 it is just out of my reach at the minute, hence the second 680). anyhow, I set everything up and loaded up P3D with Nvidia surround running on my three screens with a resolution of 6000 X 1080. I used Nvidia inspector to monitor the gpu usage, and sure enough, both cards spooled up to full. However, I didn't see any appreciable increase in Fps, and loading in a bit of weather and fog, the Fps dropped just like it did with the single card. Performance remained the same as a single card all through testing. So figuring I should be see…

I was on the fence about purchasing V3 because of all the issues I had with 2.5 on my system (SLI 980 Ti's) but I bit the bullet with the knowledge that I could get a refund if it did not pan out. I am happy I did. I am not getting the FPS I have read others are getting but what I am getting is a level of smoothness I never got in 2.5. I am using the same or one level up on my scenery settings and it is so smooth. I do not have any weird artifacts nor do I have the issue of losing SLI functionality when accessing the menu. I am very impressed and look forward to getting updated installers for Active Sky, Flight1 GTN750, and the other add-on's I use a lot. Is …

Just wondering if anyone has both installed and can offer some insight on how the new version of P3D compares to the latest version of FSX-SE when it comes to VAS in similar situations?

Noticed from Flytampa instructions and others about when creating an external folder structure if you want - people are concerned that scenery\world\scenery type .bgl's ALT, traffic and so on, have to be in the root scenery\world\scenery or they won't work. No they don't. Just ensure your folder type is World (or Global if external Global) - and the scenery library entry is at the bottom, right above Default scenery and Default Terrain (scenery\BASE and scenery\World). Your addon ALT.bgl's and traffic .bgl's will then work fine

Hey Guys, This happens every time I load a new sim, doesnt matter which one. There is a setting that will sharpen the textures (Text in panels and even the exterior textures). I cant remember if it is something I check in the display settings or in the .cfg file. I am using V3 exclusively at this point. What am I missing?

Hello I haven't even used P3D once and already got the first problem. Upon selecting the activation option when starting P3D I get a message saying my license isn't currently valid. This sounds particularly stupid considering I wouldn't have been able to download the file without a license...

Hello everybody, this is my first post and I am not a native speaker, so please be kind :-) I am planning to build up a gaming rig after years. One of the things, besides other games, I wanted to play is FSX (have a Gold Edition somewhere), now I learned that P3D is a better starting point if I start from scratch. As I am no finalizing my PC config (appr. 1000€/$), I have some questions regarding P3D: - GPU: In FSX times the advice was: Go for Nvidia, AMD/ATI was a no-go. Is this still true? (I somehow prefere the G9 390 8GB, but would change to a GTX970 if P3D would not run on it) -CPU: My original plan was to get a Xeon E3-1231v3 to save some money. No …

I have a networked configuration and decided to do clean installs of win7 64 on both PCs and a clean install of V3 on the Server. In the past with FSX, I would install the simconnect.msi only on the Server and get the other related simconnect files from the SDK folder. Would appreciate it if someone could clarify procedure for P3D. Thanks

Anyone tried it? I guess you can just point the installer to the P3D v3 folder, but does it manage to locate the scenery.cfg for instance?

Hi Everyone, Still messing around with P3D3 <--What is this StarWars , but I got some of it setup and is she able to push (12288x2160x32) some pixels... I could NEVER EVER do this in FSX or P3D2.5 and run a flight. Flight Simulation just took a major leap in the right direction, thanks L/M

With the pending release of an updated version of P3D, AVSIM members who have problems installing 3rd Party Software into updated versions of P3D should contact the vendor for instructions on how to install the software. In most cases the vendor will have to release an updated installer. Please do not use these forums for discussing how to modify a 3rd Party addon to make it work in a later version of P3D. When the new version of P3D is released, it may take some time for 3rd Party vendors to create an installer for the new version. We recommend you keep the current version installed and install the next version in another folder if you would like to continue usi…
