Firstly, the avatar thing is very cool. I haven't installed anything 3rd party yet, as I want to follow correct procedure. I don't want to break the sim quite yet. I have noticed that the CPU loading appears to be more even throughout each core. I'm running a 4790k with HT off. I have also noticed that the GPU usage has skyrocketed. On the default flight, my GPU usage is at 90% and above on a standard day with few clouds. I'll do more investigating to see what is causing such a high GPU load. Other than that, I'd say that the performance is about the same overall. Mind you, this is with no fooling around with the .cfg and the same settings i used in 2.5. Wil…

Hello, as I understand It i can install the new P3d v3 along side my current P3d v2.5 on my 2TB WD black hard drive,if this is the case how difficult will it be to use a Symbolic link from my existing Orbx scenery installed in Pd3 v2.5 folder to the new P3d V3 install,is this likely to be possible and apart from all that uninstalling and reinstalling,I am really happy with the way Orbx is performing at this moment,I may consider reinstalling at a later date,is this possible with both versions on the same HD many thanks peter

John Venema posted the following on his forum: "The P3D team makes 99.9% of its income from internal LM customers who on-sell to end-users that can't be talked about publicly. The money taken from Developer and Academic licenses is a rounding error in LM daily revenues." Interesting statement. On one hand this should put the moaners back on their spot with two feet on the ground: we simmers aren't important to LM. They can do without us and we should be very grateful we are allowed to use the sim! Then again... LM does listen to us and does implement options we asked for. So we DO matter... It's also interesting to look at this quote and the cost of the P3D l…

Quick question on Speed Trees. I remember it being a feature in MS Flight and I was wondering if there are any default elements that utilize this feature or if it will strictly be up to the addon devs to see this feature. Would be interesting to see the moving trees and smooth transitions but wasnt sure if it was a default feature of all tree elements or if it require special assets. Hope my question makes sense. Thanks!

Dan Church is currently running a Kickstarter Campaign to bring VR Flight Simulation to the next level. Some may know his last project: http://www.dcoc-vr.com The Project currently runs really well and was funded quick It was planned for FSX only, but Prepar3d is now a Stretchgoal! 20 Days to go. Everyone who have the slightest interest for flightsimming with VR Tech (Oculus Rift/Vive)...you should really consider to support this Project. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1232710074/flyinside-fsx

I am wondering why the recommended GPU requirements for version 3 have gone from 2GB to 4GB. I get a solid 30 fps with no stutters with my GTX 750 TI now, and if version 3 is an improvement , why does it need a GPU with twice the ram?

For those of you who have followed the beta progress of Dino Cattaneo's F-35 (also Version 3.00), you might have noticed that he made a cryptic post about avatars 0n 9/24/15: https://www.facebook.com/Indiafoxtecho-594476197232512/timeline/ which he has now updated on his Facebook page. He also clarified that the F-35 included with P3d V3 is a simplified version of his upcoming release. The Dino C. version supposedly has TacPack-enabled weapon systems, assuming that VRS produces an update to TacPack for P3d V3.

With all the speculation of V3 being released and various discussions about whether or not developers will charge for upgrades to V3 for their addons, I find myself unsure as whether I should invest in any addons right now or hold out for V3? As no one knows when it will be released (could be today or in several months), I find that LM not establishing an approximate release date not exactly a favorable approach in terms of developers as I am sure there must be others like me who wish to spend their hard earned coinage on nice new shiny addons but are resisting. Anyone else holding back on purchases like myself until V3 is out? Do you think this is being overly cauti…

When I first installed FTX KPSP it had no issues at all. I did not have FTX Global Base, didn't need it. Now for some reason I have an elevation issue. I recently changed my mesh from SceneryTech to Freemesh X Global. Thinking that may have caused the issue, I turned it off and SceneryTech back on, no difference. I checked for duplicate AFCADs as I have before and found none. I have My Traffic 6, however those AFCADs are turned off. Thanks for taking time to help.

As n4gix said before, let's regard that P3DV3 is DX12 compatible, no 64-bit, we still couldn't max out our scenery settings. But look at this video, I think we could get more from performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuUcIfcMDtc

Hello all! I have been reading a few threads here on how to get stutter free smooth flights with good FPS. I thought I would share my experience with my setup and settings. I am always tweaking to obtain smooth perfection and I think I am very close. As we all know, everybody will have something different with different outcomes. So, lets get started Current setup: i7 4770k OC @ 4.4Ghz GTX 980ti 16 Gb RAM P3DV2.5 Settings: FXAA- On or Off (I play around with this) Anisotropic Filtering- 8x MSAA- 4 Texture Res- Medium VSync- Off Target Frames- Unlimited Lens flare- Off Landing lights- On Everything else- Default P3D config: Affinity Mask: 8…

The latest installer from FSDT Cloud9 Bergen installs to Prepar3Dv2 and FSX/SE versions. I have installed into the FSX Steam version and the detail is incredible, however, in the Prepar3d, although all of the files installed into their correct folder, the terminal building is way too bright as the images indicate. FSDT, according to them, does not support P3D(although they make provision in the installer) so offer no advice or solution or even possible cause. I am hoping someone might be able to identify the issue from past experiences. To me, it looks like HDR on steroids, but I have this feature turned off in Prepar3d. I have Orbx Norway installed in FSX-SE and P3D.…

Hey! So I bought a GTX960, a card that will run my Sims at least until 2016 and my possible all New PC with Nvidia Pascal and New Intel CPUs, etc. I can run P3D pretty well at 30+ Fps, but I have yet to achieve the dream of a smooth stutter free simming. I just never achieved that with FSX and Prepar3d. It goies well for 3-5 seconds then stutter. I'm in need of techniques to study and fix these! First of all, is there any tool or way to detect a stutter other than by eye alone? I read something about recording your screen and playing it back later, is it effective/ Also, Vsync, etc, I never got to understand the best way to use it in P3D Thanks guys!
