There's been a lot of chat about affinity masks of late, and how we should set them, what values to use etc. What doesn't seem to have been answered (at least not fully) is a step back from that - should we have hyperthreading turned on or off in the first instance? Can P3D make use of the additional cores, or does the overhead (which there must be, at least in terms of scheduling) mean that it's more trouble than it's worth? Does it differ between people's individual setups?

Good Morning to all, first of all, a sincere thank you for the great amount of information that is posted here every day, as I can see the "gurus" take a lot of time to help the ones like me, who have been away from P3D for the last 2 years. I have just decided for a new rig that will be landing in my room on the 15th, so in preparation for the huge amount of workload that I am going to have to do to get everything back as it was... here is a few questions for the people who know P3D well. I had a very solid set up on FSX with DX10 and an OCed processor, and I am still a bit scared of the migration to P3Dv3, as I literally know nothing about settings or tweaks…

I am thinking of purchasing the Orbx tree package. I have space issues on my hard drive, so was wondering if this package completely replaces the default trees, or if it makes two tree databases, one Orbx and one default. How much space does this package take?

Has anyone been able to confirm it matters to have the theoretical benefits (dynamic parallelism, for example) of DX12 support now for V3? Thanks

Gentlemen, I have a fresh install of P3D 3.0. Along with that I have FSUIPC and EZDOK installed. All seems to be working smoothly except for one conflict. I disabled the left hat on my Eclipse yoke with EZDOK so I could designate that for electric trim. Electric trim now functions as desired but everytime I actuate the trim, the engines surge to full throttle. I've checked assignments in P3D, EZDOK and FSUIPC. What am I missing? One of the draws toward Prepar3D was that it would offload the CPU of computations, and move them on the GPU. It was a fairly big reason why I bought P3D v3. But yet I'm really not finding an improvement in this department. Take a look at this screenshot below, detailing my CPU and GPU usage. I have one physical core doing most of the load, and the other three physical cores sharing the rest. This is what I would typically see in FSX. But then I looked at my GPU usage. Only 54% usage! With a 3 year old GTX 660. And my frames are unlocked, but I'm only seeing 17 FPS, which was near the high end of what I was experiencing here. I had plenty of VRAM left. My fram…

I know that Zurich V3 is not officially for p3d v3 but i do have one question Can someone help me with this. The scenery is working fine but to get the night lighting working you have to add some line to the main section of the fsx.cfg... Where do i have to add this line in the new p3dv3 cfg file? cause there is no main section in it... Or is there another solution? thanx

Hi all, I would just like to point out this nasty problem on my brand new P3D v3 today. So when I fired it up, I was flying out of KPHL and I noticed that half the area had autogen and half didn't. I've never seen this problem before, so its really puzzling me. I really dont understand how it could be so messed up? I mean no matter how high I turn the autogen It does not work in some spots! Greetings, I am attempting to map controls for the avatar. I get the CTRL+SHIFT+E to toggle the avatar. However, there appear to be 3 views. Third person, first attached and not attached. Anybody tell me the control names for the views. They are often a bit cryptic and don't match the menu selections. Is it a toggle? As always, thanks in advance.

I am a 71 year old and am chasing an "expert" piece of advice please. I have a new PC I7, 6 cores, watercooled and overclocked by the supplier to 4.4 GHz with 32 GB of memory running at 2133 Mhz. GPU is NVidia 770 GTX. On board are a number of SSD's, 4 of them are 1GB. The installed OS is Windows 10 Pro. Which option out of the following is to be preferred please. 1. FSX into the C, Win10 Drive primarily VFR over Horizon Photoscenery Version 3, with P3D V3 on D Drive and FSX-Steam Edition on E Drive OR A separate, multi boot OS on C, D and E with one sim per Drive. I know the current train of thought is that tweaks don't help but Fibertime fraction set at .1 does. In the Carenado Phenom 300 before I added the tweak I got about 35 fps on the ground after the tweak I get between 44-50 fps.

Hmm, I always had VAS problems during my flight EGLL-EKCH and it seems still to be the case in 3.0 Even with normal autogen i am at 3.5 GB but with LOD 6.5 and FTXGlobal+OLCEU and UTX2.1 roads only activated. As always there is a spot after departure around 15nm after the runway east of 27 L/R that makes VAS increase by almost 300mb so right now over Holland i am still at 3.5 GB . I think it will couse a OOM at EKCH for sure Michael Moe

Hi, I don't know about the rest of you but, despite the best efforts of various stalwarts here and elsewhere, I am finding that I remain in a state of perpetual confusion where Affinity Mask values are concerned :( Okay, perhaps I am just being a tad thick, but the impression I am getting is that while the approach to determining the correct value is fairly consistent the outcome often is far from being the case. Hi I have had V3 for a few days now. I have the PMDG 777 and GSX, CYVR, KIAD, and flytampa CYYZ installed. I have had no problem until yesterday. now when I load an aircraft it takes a long time for the textures to load and the cockpit textures don't load at all. Most of the time after 5 min or so flying around going from spot view to cockpit view it will not respond and just shut down. The error log is full of texture errors not loading. I could post if someone thinks it maybe helpful. Win7 i5 4690 gtx750 Had V2.5 installed but I uninstalled that and deleted as many V2 files as possible before installing V3 Any help would be great

Would it be the wide screen curved or 4K monitor? What would be the best for single monitor set up. I have a network computer to run all other add ons.

Hello i was wandering what addons work for p3d v3 also my curent system is a 4790k at 4.6 gtx580 8gb ram at 1600 mhz and my mobo is an asus sabertooth z97 mark 1 i am running windows 7 64 bit ultimate what cfg settings do i need and nvidia settings and also ingame settings please help as i am new to p3d thanks.

I was doing replay of a landing... and I noticed when I hit the A key Its cycling through all the views like flyby, spot, fixed spot, overhead.....but no Tower view Hmmm... Anyone else have this issue? EDITED TO ADD: NEVERMIND..its there.. LOL Now how do I delete this thread? Admins:

Hi all, These are my computer components: i5-15150 @3.0GHz AMD Radeon 7790 1GB 8GB RAM. I am using REX 4, FTX and sceneries I've tried to change the cfg and I've tried a lot of tweaks. for example: I bought the scenery of warsaw (drzewiecki-design) and when I am using Virual Cockpit I am getting 6-8 FPS. I can't do anything with 8 fps and I've selected unlimited FPS.. Please help me cause I don't know what to do Regards Aviv
