Is there a way to see what the FPS are in game while flying, or do I have to use some overlay to tell me this?The reason I am asking is that I set the graphics to high, while flying around there seems to be no lag, but when I land and sit there for acouple seconds all of a sudden it loads a bunch more textures.I am currently running an ATI HD5770 @ 1680x1050Also, is there a way to select running DX9, DX10 or DX11 if 11 is in game?

Hi all, I have tried to be honest with "Flight"I have loaded Flight basic, installed it and played it (as in beta).I have not seen too much improvements on clouds, flight model or graphics.Urged by the initial screen to buy Hawaiian Adventure Pack with Van's R7 or R6A, I have paid for 2000 points in GfW Marketplace. I have spend 1600 points to buy DLC.MS owes to me 400 points.Now, I have made my opinion (positive or negative, it's not the point) about Flight and I want to disengage from this adventure. I have been running FSX fine with many addons. Graphics card is not fantastic (HD5450) but with ATI tray tools and many fixes can run PMDG NGX at 30fps constant (4096 textures) etc.However, I thought I would take the plunge and try FLIGHT. Installs fine but when I hit Play it tells me that the graphics card is not compatible (shader).Has anyone got an idea that might help.Thanks in advanceAdam

Like most of you I’ve spent the last two days playing FLIGHT. Since I’ve been playing close attention to both official and unofficial info and media over the last year and a half there weren’t that many surprises. If I were to rate the game it would end up somewhere in the middle of the scale. Not great, but not bad either.Ironically and surprisingly I find FLIGHT to be a better flight simulator than a game. The gameplay seems a bit chaotic, but am I missing something? Is there a goal with the game other than increasing the level of the character? Yes, FLIGHT is good.But, already I am bored with the Big Island. Damn it, I am going to have to purchase the DLC for the rest of Hawaii and I did not want to. Just more of the same.I think that this version has huge potential. MS is going to drip feed us all kinds of goodies in the months and years to come.However, I suspect that it will cost us dearly. MS have thought this through and have come to the conculsion that DLC is the way to go. Wow, there's an achievement for transporting 1,000,000 tons of cargo. Really? Did anybody do the math on that? Let's assume you have the Maule, which is the aircraft available with the most cargo capability at the moment I think. The Maule has a useful load of 1,100 lbs without fuel. Full fuel takes up just over 500 lbs. Let's assume 200 lbs for the pilot. That leaves 400 lbs for cargo. 1 ton = 2000 lbs. 1,000,000 tons of cargo means you would actually have to fly 5,000,000 flights. Wow. Let's say that each flight took 30 minutes. That's 150,000,000 flight minutes. Or 2,500,000 flight hours. That's TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND hours. There isn't a pilot alive that h…

First, let me restate what some of you know. I served a contract at Microsoft Studio on Flight. That contract ended over 1 year ago. I no longer have any financial gains and have no plans for financial gains in the future of Flight. I now run my own FSX 3rd party studio at KCFS and we made some nice FSX aircraft since the end of my time on Flight. I also dont expect making this video will get me into MS's good graces since big corps like MS dont want there former employees (or contractors) talking bout what they did, good or bad. Searched through the forum topics, and I apologize if there's a thread I missed, but - I want to say a big "THANK YOU" to Avsim for reopening the Flight Forum. My enjoyment of any sim or game is enhanced by being able to discuss it with similarly interested people - and my wife's not interested! Guys we all know ms flight is free, but wwould you have brought the game after reading all the negative feedback. Personaly im had hardcore fs9, fsx player. Im by no mean biased but after reading the reviews and watching the videos on you tube i havnt once downloaded the game.Also the reason why i think its a free download is, it saves ms large overheads if the game is a failure imagine all thoses ms flight disks just sitting on the shelf gathering dust!!Danny.

Finally got around to launching Flight for the first time.I went into the options first, and configured my Cougar joystick, which it recognized, and took a look at the graphics. They were set by default at medium, I said heck no, let's change that puppy to high.Have run through the first two missions, managed to ace both of them the first time, and have flown the first leg in the 3rd series of missions, managed to ace the runway landing. Besides this forum I frequent other forums and I notice more and more people are joining in with MS Flight. I also noticed a LOT of them, if not all, say they fooled around with flight sims in the past but somehow it was too hard to get things working and it didn't look good and they didn't know what to do... But NOW things are different. MS Flight is easy to install and it looks and runs awesome out of the 'box' and it is FUN! Hello,Long time simmer with FSX, FS9 and now FLIGHT. The performance is great for me. It still looks like a "game" to me.What I would change next is to have something like FSUIPC or direct setup for a great number of flight sim hardwares.I have a big GOFLIGHT setup and would really like to utilize my radio, LG, flaps, and Auto Pilot.With those added and maybe a relaxed "Free Flight" mode, I could get to like this sim.Cheers,Ron Sagel

Had an issue I was hoping someone ran into that could help me with it.About 9/10 when I perform a "job" from an airport, be it cargo or sightseeing, whatever, when I land at the airport, it just sits there.The couple of times it worked, I landed it was *bang* mission complete.Other times it just prompts me to "Approach and Land" or "Return to Airport". I land at the airport, I move to the destination, but nothing happens. I go through the checklist to turn the plane off, hell, I've even gotten out and walked around. We have here a start of something new that can evolve in many ways. What should we do to most likely get what we each want? Surely much of the progress will be independent of us, but there is something we can do. My thoughts:1. We (simmers) each want somewhat different things, but there are many shared wishes also. who here owns Railworks Train Simulator 2012, this sim is awesome from the get-go but the company decided on dlc which reaches to over $1000 in downloads from Steam and other sites. Flight will be the same and it will be amazing as long as my loan was approved by my bank :LMAO:

I am currently using a Saitek x52 Pro flight stick and can not bind any buttons to Microsoft Flight. I have it that there is no profile loaded since the game is so new that saitek does not have one available yet.In Windows 7 control panel it shows that the flight stick is working, it works in microsoft flight for flying around and throttle but I want to assign new alternate keybinds.In game I have made sure that the joystick is selected as well.

To me MS Flight is just a platform just as FSX was platform I witch to build on. I think MGS has made a "simplified version of Flight Simulator" that was me quoting that by the way, for a reason. If you remember when FSX came out before the service packs, everything was single core driven and not set up for dual core. Windows Vista was right around the corner and FSX was its debut program. SP1 came out and fixed a few things here and there, but then came SP2 and it changed the way textures were handled, it added limited multicore functions and changed the way autogen was addressed.
