I was wondering what to enter into the FMC where it says reserve. Do I enter the actual reserve + taxi + alternate + holding fuel or just the actual reserve fuel. What difference does it make, if any?-Mikkel

IS there a way to get both the DH & MDA to display in the 744? All I ever see is one or the other, and it reads "BARO" or "RADIO". Is this function supported? Did a search and found one post on this issue with no reply. I See on the Virgin Video both the DH & MDA displayed on the PFD and labeled as such. Thanks in advance for your help.Regards,Joe

Guys,Hope someone can help - I did post this a few weeks ago and unusually didn't get a single reply !! Maybe I'm dimmer than I thought and everyone else understands the issues. Anyway two things that still puzzle me which don't appear to be well covered in the FMC Manual or tutorials.1.What do I put in the OAT box - at the moment I guess at -50F for something like FL350 - are there any charts / graphs to give more info please ?2. What does the ISA Dev/QNH box do ? is it modelled ? The FMC Manual (page 73) just says that it is the 'Destination airport temperature deviation from standard.." So do you put in the destination temp or the difference between what (The departu…

On previous flights landing on Autoland was no problem. I'd hit F2 and the speed would reduce until 80 kts when I'd hit F1 to cancel reverse thrust. Now however the aircraft wants to take off rather than settle on the runway as the speed doesn't reduce.I've tried hitting "A", I've tried the Disengage switch, I've tried putting all Auto switches off.How do I deal with the problem please?Cliff

Hi, I've noticed (I think) that even when I over right altitude settings (lower altitude at arrival airport) or remove holds that the T/D doesn't actually alter. This can result in horrific arrival peoblems! Is this a bug or is there something I'm missing?Cheers.Mark.

Hi All,I'm excited to be a new PMDG 737NG owner. What a great product! Most of my flying theese last couple of years has been in the 727 with Richard Probst panel(another great one)imho. Now im ready to enter the world Cockpit Automation! :D I have a question concerning the Vref speed calculated by the FMC.Its calculated a flaps30 vref of 117kts. Thats with a ZFW of 83 from the "Load Manager" and entered into the FMC. When i'm established on a 3degree glide slope and at Vref+5 i find the pitch to be high(8.8 AOA). Is that right or am i doing something wrong? Thanks,Tom

This is really just meant as a continued debate thread from the temporary forum. Someone there asked what aircraft you would like to see after the MD11 is finished. Now there have been a LOT of posts claiming that Airbus will not extend a helping hand in providing information about their systems, so an Airbus aircraft is propably not the most likely thing to come from PMDG. Plus PSS has done the A330 and A340 already and there's the PIC A320 (haven't tried that one though). B777 was just released from PSS, Level-D is working on the B757, ATR was done by Flight1.The suggestions I personally liked best so far was B717-200 and/or Fokker 70/100. However, a BAe 146 could be re…

I have a question for using derated takeoff using the charts jon b provided. I very much appreciate them as I fly out of heathrow all the time. I was wondering if you could provide an example or tell me if I'm using them right.Say I'm at heathrow rwy 9R and my GRWT, taken from the FMC, is 748,3lbs ~ 339,5kg do I just go into the chart, using the correct chart of course, and locate the weight closest to mine and then enter that deg C in the place where it says SEL in the FMC? So that would be something like 54 I would have to enter in my case?

Hi there, I've spent many hours tweaking my FS9 and with thanks to this information it would appear that I'm nearly there however, my only sticking point right now is when my aircraft (normally PMDG's 744) is on final approach to any airport, I can get some unreal jitters and lock-up's especially very close to the ground, which after a near perfect flight stuff's it all up...I'm sure you understand where I'm coming from..?I'm running FS9 on the following system...------------------System Information------------------Time of this report: 11/14/2005, 21:08:03Machine name: HOCOSE-9B4DFBOperating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_…

Hi There,I have searched for this but can find no real answer:It seems that the PMDG 744 engines can be started with duct air but with the engine bleeds turned off. With them turned of how can high pressure air from the duct (Supplied from ground or APU) reach the air starters? If you look at the EICAS display, the valve Bleed say's off, but the green line just bursts through it. With the engine bleed off air should neither be able to get to the engine or be bled off from the engine, aren't I right?Secondly, why are my packs always 'stuck' on high flow? Is this a bug or do I not understand them?Best wishes,Luke

Can someone check out my procedures here and let me know if this is correct? Manual takeoff without using AutoThrottle:1.) Set up FMC (set V, engine out, acceleration, and thrust reduction speeds and T/O and Climb Thrust)2.) Press VNAV3.) Turn on Flight Director4.) Set MCP speed to V2+105.) Manually advance throttles to 70% N1, at stabilization advance throttles to max thrust. (The FMC thrust limiter will limit the thrust to the T/O setting)6.) After rotation the FD should lower the A0A at the FMC set altitude. 7.) When passing the Thrust Reduction altitude press the Thrust button on the MCP ***does this 7th step work or does the thrust have to be manually reduced? 2n…

Hi to all, and excuse me for my bad English...I have two problems: if I start my flight from LIME, after programming the FMC, I don't reach to insert the LNAV, while in every others airports ther are no problems. The other problem, regards the VNAV: during the flight the LNAV works perfectly, but I must make the climb and the descent using v/s speed and alt hold...Anyone can help me? Hi I love the Queen but im having difficulties with Direct to and being able to change my landing destination. Yes I have read the entire manual can do holds and everything else no problems. But during an emergency and having to go direct or returning to an airport for landing. Iam missing something any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes I can do it by hand but there has to be another way. Also does anyone else have this or is this normal my pack 3 always goes off right after startup and I have done what the manual says in abnormal procedures. No joy though. PMDG you have done an outstanding job with the queen I love it just need a little assistance and I know im doin…

Hi guys,This is purely an idea and NOT a 'imaginary bug report' or 'the 747 is rubbish without this feature' kind of post.On a recent 744 flight deck visit I noticed that the Altitude and Speed tapes have a contant variation in value. The altitude seems to waver +/- 5 feet from the commanded altitude. The variation was quite slow and steady so that the plane would go from +5 feet to -5 feet over 30 or so seconds before going back to +5 feet. In the cruise, the speed tape would vary by +/- 2 knots over a 15 seconds or so cycle. The reason I raise this is that sitting on the flight deck, it was the ONE thing I saw that felt different to the behaviour of the PMDG 744. Almost …
