Hey everyone,Following the heated debate over engine start sound a while ago, I have discovered something quite interesting. There were quite a few that agreed that PMDG 747 start sound was not realistic or that no sound could be heard at all. However, when I manually started the engines and let n2 go above 20-24% before I opened the fuel flow switches - bingo there was a fantastic engine start sound which I thought sounded realistic and it was the noise I wanted to hear. But you must manually start the engines which will enable this sound to be heard after about 24%n2 and before opening fuel flow switches. Give it a try and tell me what you think. Hi,Will 32bit textures take up resources when in VC view? Becaues I have downloaded some repaints from avsim which are in 32bit. I don't know how to make them DXT, but it doesn't worry me as long as 32bit doesn't affect performance when in VC view?. CheersTristan

Hello Captains,Today I fancied a EGLL-KBOS online. I fired 'er up from cold and dark, loaded 237,000lbs of fuel from the PMDG menu, set up the FMC as usual and started taxiing. After takeoff, I engaged the autopilot and LNAV, but VNAV wouldn't engage. I took a look at the FMC and it gave me an Unable CRZ Alt error. Fine, I said, so I entered FL260 for Initial cruise instead of FL320. It still gave the same error. It gave the error even when I entered 3000ft as cruise altitude. I reloaded the same fuel or different amounts from the PMDG menu again with no change. Then I looked at the PROG page. It said that I would have -2,200,000lbs of fuel left at KBOS... WHAT? :)So I de…

Hi all,I am a tad bit desperate and need help with this anomaly i am experiencing with the 744's Step Climbs. I am flying the bird with the update (installed twice as an option from Capt. Randazzo to fix small periferals soon after it was released). I am a bit confused, because while cruising at say, level, 290, I never reach the automatic step climbs which the FMC computes. The strange thing is, everything seems normal up to when the FMC tells me to STEP TO at 66 NM, from there, the 66 nms keeps fluctuating, and never goes from 66 to NOW. Hello folx,I just bought a copy of MS's FS2004 so that I can finally download QOTS. Then I just read avsim's home page news that MS is coming out with an upgrade soon (not sure when exactly...is that FSX?). Couple questions: (1) will PMDG keep supporting 2004 for a good while or will I have to turn around and purchase the new FS soon in order to get future QOTS updates? (2) Does anyone know if the new MS FS update will require a beefier PC to run it? I have a HP Pavilion notebook with P4 3.06GHz cpu, 1.25Gb ram (PC2700), and a geforce fx go5600 card with 128Mbs of vram. Can't exactly get a new cpu and card to keep up with benchmark demands.Cheers,Dr. Foo

For installation issues (independence from internet connectivity, offline installations etc.), I'd like to have a CD version of the 747 available.Since PMDG doesn't offer one, but e.g. Aerosoft does, I'd like to know whether it's possible to trade-in the online version in favor of a SC version. I don't like the idea of paying twice for the same thing of course ;-)Maybe it's difficult 'cause Aerosoft has no closer relation to PMDG, but anyway, any suggestion is welcome!Andreas

When I open the throttle pedastal I cannot see the top of the throttles when they are fully forward....I tried the obvious which was re-sizing the window but that didn't help...is it me? Or is this something I should expect?Rick Ryan

Has anyone written a 747-400 flight tutorial for the new "PMDG Queen of the Skies?"I'm having lots of fun trying to program the FMC properly. Also, can the current FS9 flight plans be imported into the 747 FMC? If not, do they all have to be built manually? Last but not least, I recall seeing that the 747 places its Fplans in it's own directory, but can't remember where, anyone current on that? :-hahThanks in advance for the help.

Just what the title says really.I've seen quite a few amazing JAL fancy paint jobs on airliners.net but can't seem to find many repaints about.Are there any japanese web sites about, like 'japansim.com'(fictional)etc. It's these sorts of hidden away sites that often have wonderfull repaints that you can't find on the big sites such as avsim!Basically - any repaints for the 'D' and even if anyone knows of some of the routes they serve I would be very greatful!ThanksJames

Hi all,I have been wondering, is there a way to change the QNH from say 29.95 to say 1034 because i fly online with VATSIM and they say descend altitude 3000ft on QNH 1022 for example but i have something like 29.95 set, so is there a way to change it to 1013 and not 29.92?I have tried many things, but none seem to work,thanks,MuelSam Cummings

Hi all,I am trying my hardest to find out how in the RW they takeoff the 737-700 etc.I know I can simply hit VNAV but as we know and aswell in real life the VNAV in the 737 is a little twichy.So I know I think in the speed window i put the VREF + 10 knts speed in??However when climbing and airbourne I just stick 230knts in or something like that and hit lvl change....Could someone please give me a correct way of doing the climb until cruise please in as much detail as possible? I have watched many video's but it always is a rush in the RW!!Thanks v muchMark P

HiHappy new year to everybody.Just did a flight from EGLL to KJFK and spotted some, of what I think are minor issues:1. In 2D view the "Flight Level Change" Button reads "FLCH", in 3D view it reads "FLCHG"2. I'm able to start all 4 engines at the same time with all packs on. Don't think this is possible on the real thing.3. The Flap Position Indicator remains green (locked) although the reversers are deployed. Shouldn't it turn magenta (in transit) due to slat movement during revers?The other things that I've spotted have been posted already I think. But as I've already said I think that are minor issues and not so important :-)Frederik

i recently posted a topic about my trip to the airport and into a real 744. me and the mx guy where talking and then he showed me the mx page on the lower EICAS for fuel, which listed fuel density, quantity, ect. and the reading for density showed about 6.7, but he said that its wrong and its more around 6.8. and the fuel load for the flight was i believe 312,000 lbs. and he did some calculation on his calculator and said that that difference in shown density and actual density is around 800(i think thats what he said). but i was focusing on the lower EICAS display and didnt know what he said before the calculation. and i was thinkin to myself yesterday. how can it make a…

Hey guys, I would like to know the profiles of the 737. I do not like flying the VNAV...I would like to hand fly the 737, instead of hitting the VNAV which SWA has inop. What I am looking for is 1: pitch angle and N1% to hold at different stages of flight: EG takeoff 15 degrees nose up, V2 + 15, climb %, cruise % and descent to give certain airspeeds. I have had two CTD's while using ASV6. in both cases I was flying at cruise alt after 3 hours of flight. My route was TJSJ to KORD. When I get about 80 nm from the coast ASV6 updates and I CTD.ZFW= 464888TOW= 596488CRuise alt= just step climbed from FL380 to FL400Speed= 0.86 machI found in the ASV6 forum another pilot reporting the same kind of CTD. he reported by turning off auto-VAS the problem disappeared.Ray

Dear All,I'am a little bit confused about the alt intv button.On the 737-600 and 700, if I select an altitude on the MCP lowerthan the cruise altitude in the CDU Perf Page, this last oneis replaced by the selection on the MCP if I press the alt intv button.On the 737-800 and 900, whatever the altitude selected on the MCP,I press this button but it seems to no have no effect at all.But after reading the manual and some others articles, my understanding is that button permits to level off at a selectedaltitude without leaving the VNAV mode (that is the case on my 600 and 700) and also without changing the CDU Cruise Altitude (and it is not the case on my 600 and 700).Who ca…
