Ive learned enough to get my way around in the FMC, but i have a question. I had a route planned and activated LNAV in flight. The plane slowly drifed off course and i noticed that the winds were at 270 deg/25kt. Figured the winds pushed me off track. I went into the fmc during flight and it appears I cant modify the wind direction/speed once the fmc has been activated. I then reset the flight and went to where i could activate wind/speed. I tried tho enter a random dir/speed into one of the empty slots. (using 250/25 to see what it would do) the numbers seemed to enter, but then the numbers disappeared (back to looking like ___ (deg)/___ ) Also, how do you know…

Hi guys!I sent an e-mail about this but thought I would post here now that the forum is up. I hope that is ok!?!I have 2 networked computers each with a dual head video card (4 monitors). Please note that I have tested the 747 with just 1 monitor as well.Anyway, on the ground and even in a "cold and dark" situation, I am getting very poor FPS as I begin to open sub panels (down to 6 from 24). Now, keep in mind that everything is shutdown (FS Autostart), the 747 is still "cold and dark", and I am testing with 1 monitor and then 2, and then 4. Before the latest 747 update, when the altimeter on the PFD was changed to STD, the selected pressure remains in white beneath the green STD readout. Since the latest patch though, this has gone, which means I need to switch from STD mode while I set the new altimeter setting and then go back to STD whilst I continue my descent.Is this supposed to happen, or is it just me?Thanks for any info.-Phil

Hi Fellows,I always do manual landing from 12 miles out and yet to perform an auto land with the 744. My question is, right at the start of decend I turn off one of the flight directors depending on which side (FO or Captian)I choose to fly on the flight. On final with AT and command off, the "HDG" and "ALT" are always active even though not impeding my manual landing, it's annnoying. Is this a Boeing design or I'm doing something wrong? ThnxGus

Hi guys!I was really anxious expecting the update, having installed it, i went for a "test" flight yesterday ... :)When on the approach procedure, I had a parallel entry and the airplane totally lost itself (like older versions).I started only testing holding procedures then, and realized the plane does very well on Offsets and Direct, but on the Parallel entries, sometimes it keeps on the outbound heading forever, without turning back to the fix (most common problem) and sometimes it just turns to the right when its supposed to turn to the left and join the hold.Any comments? I'm finding the B37NG-800 landing lights are far too bright; it's difficult to see rwy exits never mind the taxiways (at night ). Can these lights be dimmed, say via the aircraft.cfg file, if so how?Any help will be much appreciated.KenSomerset, Englandps. Dear Captains,Forgive the ignorance if this query is simplistic, or has already been covered.My query relates to the VNAV Page 2. I've entered a step climb of 2000 and the FMC calculates the nautical miles appropriately for my step climb (e.g.: from FL290, Step To FL300 at 110 nm). A very strange thing happens soon after that when it comes to say, 62 nm before my step climb: the step climb does not seem to go down after that, and it fluctuates from 62, to say, 80nm. And, the "fuel at destination" number is constantly fluctuating.Would someone be so kind to tell me what I am doing wrong? Regards,Tom

Hello,maybee someone can help me. When I start a flight with the PMDG 747-400 Queen of the skys and I take a first look at the ND or PFD everything is ok. But after about 30 sec. the displays will change in black and nothing is working. It is not possible to make the ND or PFD or either the EICAS visible. I recently purchased the NG737 base package, and like it very much. I am particularly interested in the 700 series. My question is it worth the upgrade to the 800/900 series if I intend to mostly fly the 700? Does the upgrade include all the enhancements for the 600/700 series such as improved panels,panel options , and enhanced FMC functions?Thanks,Irv

When I take off. I have to use all the runway and sometimes more than the runway. which is way after V2, aircraft still will not climbe. I enter that right ZFW. Anybidy else ha this problem, and what did they do?Ron

Hi Guy's.I have a boxed cd of PMDG 737 NG 600/700 installed in MSFS 2004, Msfs recently updated with patch from microsoft. Now no matter what i cannot get gauges to show there just black, also a lot of the clickable buttons & switches do not function on the overhead and only the brake control on the main panel works ????Have trawelled the forum but nothing specific on this, have also re-installed 737 with the same results plane is flyable, just dont have all functions or gauges.

Will an MD-11F be produced in conjunction with the upcoming MD-11 or will it be a later release like the 400F?Thank you,Taylor

Hi,I can't imagine why pilots in the airlines would ever use auto-land. I would imagine that landing the aircraft manually is one aspect of the job which they enjoy most. When I fly the Queen I never use auto...manual landings all the time. So presumebly autoland is used because its available, but how often and for what reason? If there was bad weather i.e strong winds, you would probably want to fly/land the aircraft manually. In addition I would see those type of landings as challenging and a way of improving my skills.
