I had some fun the other day with a polar route. You have to give up your real world job for a bit though, and become a Virtual Pilot. MSFS has a Polar Wall at N89.30. If your route goes above 89.30, you'll have to do some fancy driving, but it can be done. Here

I got a new joystick. The X52. Its great except for the fact that the joystick is too loose. The last one I had was stiff so now I have to get used tothis one and at first is was a bit hard to control the aircraft. But the throttle is exceptional. :)But my question is about button mapping. This thing has sooooo much buttons and they can come in pretty handy. :) I mapped out all the buttons in theFS Assignments, but I can't use them will payware addons. I have to go and map them out for every specific payware plane. So thats exactly what I wasgoing to do but I can't figure out how to map the buttons on the PMDG aircraft. Hi EveryoneI am a newbie with the 737-800/900.I am a having a hard time mastering the FMC.One of the many problems I feel I need help with at this moment is with thw FMC, when I set the N1 limit screen-I can not engage the A/T on the glare shield for the whole duration of the flight.Can you please tell me how to over ride this as the manual says you can-but does not mention anything.Also can you help with the TCAS-I have switched this on at the radio panel and the TCAS OFF light disapears from the screen-BUT I don't see any dots or warning sounds regarding close proximty of the other planes.I look forward to your helpTass

I am trying to setup a flight from Amsterdam to Bergen, Norway (ENBR).I am planning to make an ILS landing at Bergen on runway 35. I can post the legs of the flight okay. When I get to the DEP/ARR page, I select runway 35 for arrival. Then, right below appears the item: rnwy ext ----.----Obviously, I need to do something with this item, for when I activate the route, it does not show runway 35 as being the last leg in the plan. What does the above mean and what am I supposed to do with it?Jack McAfee

Rewatching some of the Virgin 19, 747 DVD. I noticed the pilots flew some early parts of the climb using vertical climb speed settings rather than vnav. any thoughts as to why one would choose this over the other?ThanksMike

Hi fellow airmen - The engine or wind sound is really bothering me wen I'm above 2500 feet. It is so loud that it is almost impossible to hear anything else. Does anyone have the same problem. Hi folks,I'm looking to have a go at the KJFK Parkway visual approach to Runway 13R in the 747.Anyone done this in the sim or in RL and care to offer some guidance on how to best manage the approach? - Final landing config: configured before, during or after the turn?- Autopilot use, where do you disconnect?- Anything else?I have all the heights off the approach chart, I'm looking more for handling technique, cues, hints, and so on.

I took my PMDG NG out for a flight yesterday for the time in months and was amazed to re-discover that it works perfectly with my GoFlight radios in all radio modes (I have two GF radios) and also all the lighting works perfectly as well with the GoFlight switches panel. This is unbelievable and exciting!The only thing is I don't understand why NONE of the above works for me with GoFlight and the PMDG Queen...?!#? Did PMDG use different coding or something for the 744 ?Just curious, not a big deal.Jonathan

Hi there allFlying LHR SFO soon and I was wondering when I need to switch from true to magnetic roughly - I read somewhere it was 67N?Also - completely unrelated - some texts say FL100 to descend to in decompression, otheres FL140 - which is the correct decompression descent level for a standard 744?Thanks for any help anyone can giveCheersRudy

If that day ever arose and I found myself in the left (or, OK, right!) seat driving, I think I'd be OK with the FMC, MCP, etc. But what would I do to communicate with ground folks and with whom would I communicate if in cruise across an ocean? What radio(s) would I use and how (especially to avoid getting shot down by a protective F-16)?Jonathan

I keep seeing mention of the Level-D 767 in various places. Does anyone on this newsgroup have both? I'm curious how the two sims compare with one another.I've been really enjoying PMDG 747, does Level-D offer me something that would make it worth the trouble given that I already have "the best transport class aircraft"? Do the two sims take a different approach to modelling their craft in some way? Does one have a better virtual cockpit for example or maybe level D has an online/inflight tutorial? etc. etc.

For some reason my autopilot on my 737-800 keeps disconnecting when level at Flight Levels. I have tried command A and B with no luck. Any advice.

I couldn't get lower EICAS to show the relevant information when I click on ENG/FUEL/GEAR etc on the EICAS MCP. The display remained the same with engine information and won't respond to clicks. That's the problem I have when the engines are started from cold and dark. EICAS won't change after the engines are started.When I started with hot engines, ready to roll on the runway, lower EICAS works properly. EICAS window responded to clicks. Strange? What's the theorey here?Regards.

Could anyone remind me of the corrct order to reinstall please.I have 737 600/700 on CD also 737 800/900 on CD. However I seem to remember that last time I installed the 800/900 I ended up with blank panels and I think there was a patch to put it right but I can't remember the order to instal the two 737s and the patch.Also on the PMDG website downloads, what are the following for:-PMDG 737 800_900 Model UpdatePMDG 737 800_900 Service updatePMDG 737 V1.2 - V1.3 Service updateIs one of these the patch I need please ?

I made the unthinkable error of deleting the PMDG files before using Windows Add/Remove Programs. Now I'm unable to remove the Queen of the Skies through Add/Remove, therefore can't reinstall it. Any ideas on how to remove it? Thanks, Bo

Ok I did a flight form SFO to HNL today and well I barely had enough fuel to make it. Landed with about 0.6 showing in each tank. :) At one point I didn't think I was going to make it so I tried (unrealistic I know) to add more fuel through FS and it wouldn't change the amount at all. Is there anyway to add or remove fuel through the FS menus without having to leave the program and use the 747 load manager?Also one other question: is there a program that can calculate the fuel needed for a flight? I took what FS said an doubled it but as I said above it was barely enough.-Ryan

Hi there - can anybody please tell mew how to change the displays on the EFIS.PIC 1 shows the current settings, with the split-screen displays etc.PIC 2 shows my favoured display settings - I just can't work out how or where to adjust this! this setting is much more legible, especially the route/compass. I think the first split-screen setting is too cluttered and very diffucult to read.Any help on how to adjsut the settings would be greatly appreciated.Thanks and regards from EDDFEd

Hello,I fly the pmdg 744 all the time and today i noticed something strange and new to me. I pushed back from the gate with the feature on the COM panel. after the push, I applied park brakes when told to do so by the pushback truck. I still needed to be pushed back a bit farther, so i simply used the Shift-P feature. I forgot to release my park brake though, and then the Brake Temp light came on. I taxied out to the runway making sure to stay off the brakes as much as possible. As soon as I tapped the brakes they wouldn't come off. The Brake message came on in the lower right corner of the screen. I have CH pedals and NEVER had this happen before. It seemed strange to me…
