HiI am having trouble getting the 747-400X IRS system to align when I start from a cold and dark cockpit. When the checklist tells me to do so I move the IRS switches from Nav to Off and back to Nav then to Align. When the timers on the Nav page get to 0 and disappear I move the switches back to Nav expecting the map on the Nav screen to come alive, but it doesn't. Instead after a minute the align timers reappear and continue to count backwards into negative numbers and I still have IRS align EICAS messages. i discovered that even with all hyd, elec(inc batt and stby power), Pneumatic eng/grd air off but with the engines still running the flaps would still extend /retract even with just one engine running they still functioned normally and with no slow down, so i could not figure out where the power is coming from for them still to work. Is this realistic or is it a known issue? As far as i am aware the flaps normally use hydroulic power but can also be electrically driven so if there is neither of the sources available i would have thought they would not opperate.Kav

Just thought I would post given all the negative comments about them. Mine has finally arrived after a 3 month wait. Hooked it up and was up and running in minutes.One thing I did not do though was install the Saitek drivers and I use FSUIPC for all the calibration and key mappings. This does mean the clock does not work but the timer still stil.I have now flown several flights with it and it is much nicer than the CH Products one I have as it is much smoother and has a nicer feel to it. Landings are much easier to control. I also have the extra quadrant so now have 4 throttles, a flap lever and a speed brake lever all set to work as they should. Even have separate revers…

This is a new install with FSX SP2. Latest version downloaded and I never installed the earlier version of FSX 747.I note that the flaps do not extend or retract but the "supports" below the flaps do. The leading edge flaps do not extend either. Both outboard ailerons droop and do not move but the inboard ailerons and also the elevators do work.In the cockpit there is indication of flaps extending.Any help appreciated.I used the default cold and dark and got everything going.Greg

For many years I thought the 747-400 had many slats on the leading edge. Recently I've read that they are Krueger flaps since they fold out from under the wing whereas a true slat is supposed to be the whole front edge of the wing that goes forward and downward. Now I am reading about the Queen having variable camber flaps at the leading edge.What does the Queen have and what actually is the difference between these slats (or flaps?!). I always thought a slat was whatever protruded at the leading edge to enable greater lift and delay a stall. Appreciate any further ed on this matter, thanks.Merry Xmas to all too !Jonathan

I just installed the Vista service pack 1 release candidate (essentially the final beta for SP1 for those who might not know) and my 747X won't load up properly. It doesn't show the little box that says loading AIRAC and then the progress bars. Once in the sim, the bottom part of the panel doesn't show up either. Should I reinstall it? Or might this be some weird issue being caused by SP1... Microsoft claims that SP1 doesn't cause any problems with existing software though. I guess I got them on that one.

A repost because no replies to original post from a a week or so back - hard to believe no one has any clues on this.What is happening is that the the PMDG 747 panel appears and the navdata starts to load but FS9 then freezes, the hard disk goes berserk and and you get that friendly message from MS that FS has had a problem and needs to close. Revert back to original FS9 (after a full reinstall just using the uninstall that comes with the install package doesn't work properly) things are back to normal.Grateful for some light on this hassle as at present I don't have FSX and the only benefit I get from this expensive addon (even at 50% off) is the FS9 enhancement which as…

HiI need some clarification about air speeds.In a flight from Porto to Heathrow I've notest that in the primary Flight Display the Current Airspeed Display was showing a value of 245 knots, at same time in the Navigation Display the values was GS (ground speed) 485 and TAS(true air speed) 474.Well I can understand the difference between GS and TAS but I thought that the Current Air Speed was a value near TAS...I will apreciate some explanation about this..Thanks

hi all,I just purchased the 74X two days ago and I have a little problem.My fps drop from 20 to about 6 when I go from the regular 2D Captains panel to zoomed panel. It seems that the 'non zoom' panel still runs in the background which would explain the extreme drop. I am using the view switch button to do that.However, if I click the three screens (PFD etc.) one by one to undock them (so they are pretty much the same size as they are in zoomed mode) I hardly get any fps drop. Almost the same picture as the zoomed panel, but hardly any loss in performance.I remember in FS9 you lost a couple of fps with the zoomed panel due to the larger displays, but I got close to the sa…

I need a little help. After installing the 747-400X, I can see that there is a problem with my DLL.XML file. The PMDG section follows the "My Traffic X" section; however, that section (My Traffic) is missing the following:at the end. So, I can use FSX, but selecting the PMDG 747 causes it to crash.I found my XML file and can open it with IE, which gives me an option to edit with MS Word, where "Launch.Addon" appears inside a purplish-colored shape with an arrow inside.Here is where I am having difficulty. I was experimenting with the CRZ page and came into the S/E cruise page. I couldn't leave the page after I had entered it. Also I noticed I couldn't engage VNAV mode in the next flight which I subsequently flew (I still couldn't get out of the s/e cruise page to the normal one).Why is that? Is that the same in reality?Also I still can't figure out how to change if the system is running or not at fs2004 startup. And why it takes fs ages to startup the 737NG. Hi there, can someone please tell me whether they have experienced problem with the above addons. More specifically, eversine I have installed the PSS777 boeing, my queen of the sky aircraft, starts of normally and after a while all engines and electrics turn off, just like a cold and dark cockpit. I uninstalled the PSS777 but i still have the same problem. Is anyone aware if there is a conflict between these 2 aircrafts and how i can restore my engines as they used to be before. Hello PMDG Staff! There have been a lot of new ideas as to how best to tweak/optimize FSX following release of FSX SP2. A lot of AVSIM posts seem to encourage doing little to nothing to the FSX.CFG (this is generally speaking, not necessarily for the Queen). But when I try that out, it's not near as good as I would like and have come to expect from a Quad Core PC and 8800GTX card.I think your earlier tips in the OPS documents are better than no tweaks to the .CFG at all, but thought I'd ask since I haven't seen post-SP2 recommendations in this forum. Hi-I've moved FSX to a new drive. When I try to reinstall the FSX 747, I get an error message saying that, 'installation can't continue, valis FSX not found.' After that disappears, the install wizard closes, not giving me a chance to set the new path. Any ideas?Thanks,Mark
