I have about 3.5 Gigs of RAM memory running in Vista 32 bit system with an Intel Core2 Quad 2.40Ghz CPU and an nVidia 8800GTS video card.Whenever I try to use the 747 X for a little while, I get a message that my computer has run out of available memory. This does not happen with any other airline sim that I have. Is there something in this 747X installation that may be causing a memory leak of some kind?

Hi there chapsI was lucky enough to recently get hold of a real 747-400 flight plan on a recent LHR/SIN flight plan. The plane in question had a +3.0% adjustment from book values. Using FOC2003 with the same route, the end result came out bang on the numbers in agreement with the plan I have.The strange thing is, according to the 744's FMC - it would want about another ten tonnes for the same route! I tried planning the same flight in FOC2003 without the average wind component, and got a fuel number - again it was well below what the PMDG 744 thought it would use. Got my new 44F for FSX and installed it. Loaded up the aircraft and pressed the ALT key to bring up the menu, then left mouse clicked on ADD-ONS, then PMDG, then OPTIONS. The sim froze up! Had to turn off my computer to reboot. Tried it all again... This time I was able to access the options, but just as soon as I made my selections and exited, the entire screen went black in FSX! If I used the WINDOWS key to return to the desktop, things were fine, but if I returned to FSX, things were still black! HELP!!!I have FSX with all the SPs and SDK SPs installed. Dear All,I would like to pose a question (take a survey) to the PMDG team and the community. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before. As an avid enthusiast of our hobby since FS2000 I have long enjoyed watching the products mature throughout the years: Phoenix and the 777 which was revolutionary at the time with (if my memory serves me) a functioning FMC and autopilot. I love to run FSX at full everything and am getting between 15FPS to 50FPS nearly all the time. However when watching the FPS counter I see it drop to 4-6 for about 1-3 seconds quite often. I currently have 2GB DDR2 ram and a E6700 C2D CPU. I am thinking of adding another 2GB ram (yes I know the 32bit version cant use it all) because I have looked at the CPU usage and it seems to be only about 20-30% usage on each core most of the time indicating that it had plenty left there (works it butt off on the initial load). Memory usage however is alway about 98% and I am wondering if these drops are swap file related and would be fixed by extra memory.John Veldthuishttp://www.vi…

I am getting ready to buy the 747-400x for fsx. Sorry, couldn't find the answer by searching the forum, but do I still need to tweak my fsx.cfg file as per the FAQ on the pmdg website? There have been quite a number of posts elsewhere that tweaking the .cfg file can now actually be counterproductive with sp2.Thanks,Morser

The older style is fine. If I select the LCD (or the F which defaults to LCD) my MCP readouts are blank. Buttons work fine.I've also noticed that the LCD readouts on the Push back gauge are blank as well, but push does work, I just cannot see my settings.ThanksTim

Hi,This is a general question related to the use of FSBuild and nDAC w/ the 747X FMC. I've pre-planned my flight from CYYZ (TORONTO) to KORD(Chicago) and used a set route in FSBuild. I also selected the SAYERS2 approach with the FLINT transition.Now looking at this approach it leads to the PAPPI marker and ILS-RWY22R makes the most sense for landing. Straight-in approach from PAPPI. The thing is - how do you know what the active runway at KORD is before leaving CYYZ? I generally fly VFR based on my flight plan and select a transition in the plan that makes the most sense. When I contact FSX ATC though they told me to head to ILS-27L?So how do I fix my route in flight? The…

Here's a video I made to demonstrate the LNAV drift problem I and others here have encountered with the 744X. This is on a Trans-Atlantic flight between EGCC and KMCO! The video begins by reengaging LNAV after a commanded ATC coarse correction and intructions to resume navigation. Ciao to all,I use PMDG since 5 years allready and I got, few days ago, this strange problem...When I activate the speed brake during the flight I don't manage to close it anymore...it remains on "armed" position...So I've the green light of "speed brake armed" on and can't get them down..After landing, still I can't close them...this causes also to get the warning "horn" to go on while taking off...Any suggestion...I try to close the speed brake lever using the mouse..Or full opening the speed brakes and then giving thrust...before this usually closes the brakes and bring the lever down..ThanxPAco

Hi, just got the saitek pro flight throttle. Could anyone teach me how to setup the reserve thrust ... I am currently using registered FSUIPC and I linked throttle axis 1 to control No.1 and No.2 engine and axis 2 for No.3 and No.4 respectively. It is different then setting up the CH throttle since for saitek, the reserve thrust is actually a button rather then an axis..thanksBenPS I didn't install the accompanied saitek Driver (CD that comes with the box), should I install it or just leave it alone if I am only gonna to use it on FS for pmdg 747

Lately the spoilers have been getting stuck in the extended position anytime I use them after takeoff. On the ground, before takeoff, they work fine. I have my spoilers assigned to my Saitek throttle quadrant buttons in the Standard.xml file. One button extends, another button retracts them. I also have the default keyboard command '/' still assigned.To troubleshoot, I have deleted the Saitek buttons assignments in the Standard.xml file, but they still get stuck. The best way I have found to get them unstuck is to use the default arm spoiler keys in reverse order. Hold down the '/' first, then the 'shift' key, let go, then press '/' key and 50% of the time, they will rele…

Hey...after grabbing a can of Jetfuel energy drink from the upper deck galley of the 747-400, I noticed a pogo stick leaning against a bulkhead. So what's up with that? I tried clicking on it but it didn't seem to be active. Anyone successfully pogo? Might be a great exercise on these long flights....probably scare the paxs, though.

i have just built this very high spec machine hoping for smooth frames in fsx but have been sorely dissapointed as have achieved as low as 7 fps in built up areas with the queen and all sliders maxed out. I realy thought my performance problems would be over with this lamborghini of computers. A few questions if anybody can answer:- On VNAV page ACT ECON CRUZ, what is the meaning/purpose of the LRC> in position 6R ?- On same page as above, according to the manual LSK 3R is supposed to show ETA/fuel load at the next waypoint but it instead displays this information for the final destination. After installing the FS2Crew for FSX and running with FS2Crew the captain's screens go black some time after reaching cruise height.The F/O's screens are still functioning, but I have not found a way of getting the captain's screens back on. I flew the same route without FS2Crew and everything was Ok. FS2Crew support said they never heard about this and directed me to the main PMDG support. No matter which route I fly with FS2Crew I have this problem. Any help out there?Tor
