Hi Captains,I feel it's about time to honor this awesome bird PMDG gave us. I hardly fly anything else and whenever I do, I cannot wait to get back into my 747.Recently I found some cool photographs from this beach and I made one of my best VFR approaches ever in a B747. can anyone tell me why this file seem to change the manual entries changes i make to it and i have to ammend it every time i fly even though i save the changes to the following section[ND]ClipMap=1ArptRwyLimit=6000TCAS_NumMaxAcft=100TCAS_ShowOtherTFC=1TCAS_ShowRangeRings=1it reverts to range rings=0 automaticaly how can i stop this happeneing and make the changes permanentthanksKav

I have found the list of company routes in the PMDG folder but how do you interpret them? Some appear to use the ICAO prefix of "K" or "P", etc. but others don't. Is there an easy way to find out, for example, if there is a route from SFO to Narita, Japan? Also, is there a way to simply look at the company route list and say, this one means "this" airport to "this" airport?Next, on creating my own flightplan.. can I use the FSX flight plan builder and then, somehow, translate that into something that the PMDG FMC will recognize?Would appreciate any help.Jeff EvenRocklin, California, USA

Hiya,Alright, I've been having a problem with my PMDG 747 since I installed it after re-formatting my computer.When I'm in HDG SEL mode, and I hit LNAV, LNAV flashes armed (white color) on the display, underneath HDG SEL (in green) but, LNAV does not remain armed, it just flashes for maybe a second, nor does it engage. I've tested it out, and even when I was within 2.5nm of my course and on an intercept heading, it still didn't work.Any help would be greatly appreciated :)Cheers,KristianPS I'm running it on FS9

(please bear with me as I've been out of simming for about 5 years.)I am running FSX PMDG 747-400X, Radar Contact and FSMeteo. I have FS2Crew also but understand that it is NOT compatible with Radar Contact.1. How do I set a "cold and dark" panel for the acft without using the preset "panel states" that show the acft at a specific airport, i.e. KPAE.2. How do I convert or upload a flight plan that I create in FSX to Radar Contact. I see no "export" area in the FSX flight planner.3. Am I correct in this procedure?a. Open FSX, thenb. Hello,hopefully someone out there will be able to get me out of this mess...Anyway, here goes: when trying to run any of the 2 addon products standalone, everything is fine. The Queen (without RC v4.3) runs smoothly, RC 4.3 (when not using the Queen) runs perfectly.However, as soon as I try to fly the Queen with a proper ATC, I constantly get FMC messages that I don't get with RC v4.3 ("Unable next ALT"), the FMC erases itself multiple times before takeoff, before takeoff ATC goes into a loop announcing QNHs, after takeoff, the gear is unresponsive (impossible to retract the gear, the lever actually goes into the UP position, but wheels don't follow suit).For information,…

I am rather unclear what is outstanding before PMDG will recommend Vista/FSX as being as good as or better than the XP/FS9. Could the wiki please maintain a short list of the main outstanding items please?Thanks, Richard

Hi,i have fsx and flying around with the wonderful 767 from level-d. i love complex aircraft and widebodies and would like to purchase the 747.however i don't have a highend computer. i can run the 767 w/o traffic quite smooth in fsx. i don't care too much about the look of theoutside, but want to experience as much realism in flying the aircraft as possible. Has somebody both aircraft and can tell me if the performance of the pmdg747 is much worse than the level-d 767?second, i'm really into the systems of the 767 (also with the fs2crew version). Hey all, yesterday I hade to reinstall my fs2004 after some problems, so now when I have installed it, put all settings and so on I did install my pmdg planes, I download the newest airac from navigraph and install, start the game and program the route in the fmc, but when I select runway for takeoff there is no sids there, and same in the arr, did try to download Sid

Now I know (even better) why I love my wife so much. She's indulged me patiently for 11 years with my sim hobby. Yesterday, I was telling her that I still need to properly master the start-up procedure on the 747-400, so I was planning to print out more of the PMDG and Craig Read tutorials and manuals. I told her about the sequencing challenges, and the APU briefly, then she said, "But all you do is press the ON switch in the cockpit and you need the GPU. I want to enter the following navigation instruction to the FMC:"Proceed direct to a point 5 NM on the 131 radial of VOR SAX"I entered SAX131/5.....manual says the decimals are optional for bearing and distance but I tried other formatting combinations also. I got FMC msg "NOT IN DATABASE" for all I tried. Checked the database and SAX is there. I then entered just the waypoint's name (SAX) and the FMC found it just fine.What's the formatting secret for "Place Bearing/Distance Waypoints" ?

Happy new year, everybody!I have the 737NG (6/7 series) running in FSX. Installed it with the normal installer, moved it from the aircraft directory to the simobjects/airplane directory, moved the gauges and sounds to their respective directories (see picture 1), started FSX, went through the warnings cycle (choosing 'yes' every time) and here we are: it runs! And I must say: it's better than I thought. I could make a normal flight from Heathrow to Amsterdam without crashing into the ground or CTD's or anything like that. Hello all 744X users,Maybe this has been asked before, but I have been thinking of upgrading my RAM to 4-8GB and getting Vista64.I have Core2 Duo 6700, and 8800GTX with 764MB memory.My question simply is, how much better (if any) does the 744X perform with SP2 DX10 support? Especially in VC view. Right now I can get around 22-30fps in XP with some major compromises in graphics. Is there really any benefit for upgrading to Vista64 and getting DX10 support?

Hello:I just purchased the 747-400X and am trying to find the best way to create flight plans for importation into the 747 FMC.First question, do FS9 PMDG flight plans work in FSX? I am assuming not as they seem to have a different extention.second, are there any programs out there that can create FSX flight plans for importation into the 747X? Hello all, I'm new here. First of all, I'm gonna to introduce myself. I'm... (Get out of here or say something important!)Sorry about that, just a small kidding.OK, I use to fly PMDG 747-400X. When I set up the ILS frequency in the FMC, the PFD shows ***(ILS's name)/XXX(true heading). Normally, XXX should be magnetic heading. In ND, It shows correct: ***(ILS's name), and course XXX (magnetic heading). Because of it, my PMDG 747-400X can't make a normal auto approach: LCD shows I'm not on the loc, but the computer doesn't correct it?!!I didn't install any add-on scenery or add-on airplane except PMDG 747-400X. Did somewhere I went wrong? Help...

I know I am probably the only person that is still using a dial-up modem, so don't give me too much of a hard time. My question relates to downloading the 744X on another computer and then transfering to my desktop where I run FSX. Does PMDG allow a purchaser that option compared to me trying to download the file over a 56K modem. Thanks for your response in advance.Shafter
